Car rentals

Looking to rent a car when we are in Philipsburg. Want to make this smooth and easy. Can anyone recommend a company that is right near the port and will get us in and out so we can go about our day :)

Coastal has location at cruise terminal, and are reliable and reasonably priced. I suggest you reserve in advance to expedite and make sure the model you want is available - especially if there will be a number of ships in port with you.

If I reserve am I guaranteed a car?

We rented from Hertz at the airport since we were on the island for one week prior to our cruise. We did drop the car at their site at the cruise dock. We had a good experience with Hertz.

We have rented from Hertz at the pier a couple of times. Prereserve online and you will have no problem.

How hard is it to find parking in different areas (beaches, etc.)? Is there a fee?

Parking can be difficult in Philipsburg and Marigot. Other than that this island is easily drivable with good roads and driving on the right. I We never had to pay to park anywhere.

Driving is on the Right, same as US.

St. Thomas is on the Left.

Ok, I asked him again because they definitely stayed at St. Martin for the week, and he said the steering wheel was on the right. That's what threw him off!

The car we rented from Hertz at the airport was just like the USA. Driver on the left side of the car when sitting inside the car.

Actually taxes and a $15 port charge and it's $59. Toyota Corolla. My insurance policy covers us for rental cars so I didn't get any additional coverage.
