New York to Bermuda

Have sailed multiple times to Bermuda on the Celebrity Summit out of Bayonne. We love it- the port is easy to get to and your vacation starts the minute you board! The staff at Bayonne is excellent. Plenty of parking in a huge multilevel garage.

We also have sailed on the Allure of the Seas out of Bayonne- We prefer Celebrity!

In 2015 we sailed on the Breakaway out of Manhattan to Bermuda and once on Carnival to New England. It is much more hectic out of Manhattan- but I guess if you live in Manhattan, not a big deal- The parking is expensive, compared to Bayonne.

We prefer Bayonne and Celebrity- I would check Cruise Critic and view member reviews. You can see the ratings for both Celebrity Summit, NCL Breakaway and any other ship departing from these ports. Enjoy your cruise!

Even worse than I thought. WOW. $40 a day to park your car. We have sailed several times from Bayonne and made use of the park, sleep, cruise hotels. When we have sailed from Manhattan, we have taken the train into the city and stayed overnight at a hotel or taken Yankee Trails Bus from Albany into Manhattan.

Yankee Trails Bus is the best!So easy. I drive to Albany, about 3hrs from my house, stay overnight at a hotel near the bus then in the morning hop on the bus to the port.

Back on topic: hotels/guest houses and meals are very expensive in Bermuda. If cost is a concern, going by cruise ship - hopefully one that gives you three nights in port - is likely to be significantly less expensive than flying, renting a place for three nights, and buying meals for three days.

I have been to Bermuda 4 times.

Once on a Princess cruise sailing out of NY that stopped there for part of a day.

Once via air and hotel for a destination wedding

Twice on the NCL Breakaway

IMO, the multi day stay cruises are the best way to do Bermuda. The hotels are expensive and the quality isn't on par with the prices that you'll be paying. We stayed at the Fairmont Southhampton before it was renovated in 2014, and it definitely felt dated. It's probably better now, but I don't know about pricing. There is a somewhat limited hotel inventory on Bermuda, so the options are limited and prices are high. Air and land for 2 people is probably going to run in the $3000+ range. That doesn't include meals, and restaurants, etc. are also expensive.

By going on a cruise, the ship is your hotel, so you can experience the beaches and the rest of the island and you can come and go as you please. I personally think it's a much better value than an air and land trip to Bermuda. Of course, with a NY cruise you are limited to 3 days on the island, but if that's not a big concern, then I would definitely vote for a cruise.

Been to Bermuda many times. All cruises except this past May. We stayed 7 nights in a rental home. Staying in a rental home was much nicer than a cruise ship cabin. We had 2 bedrooms, dining room, living room, and kitchen, and beautiful views from a large deck. Total cost was around $2500.(for both, not each) Would have been less, but instead of walking and riding buses, we rented 1 scooter for 6 days. But there are many advantages to a cruise ship. To name a few; you don't have to cook and clean up after yourself. Also, there are many things to do on a cruise ship 24 hrs a day right at your fingertips. (shows, bars, casino, food) So, the room may be dinky, but the cruise ship, which acts as a hotel, is awesome.
