Is this worth the hassle???

We can fly out of FLL for $216, but $79 from MCO.. two of us.. worth it to rent a car from around POM?

Uber from POM would be $40ish anyway, car rental I am guessing not much more than that..

MCO is around 3.5 hours from the Port of Miami at best. We've had one-way rental cars for as low as $54, plus gas.

Plus get back home about 45 minutes sooner..

I would choose MCO for the savings - rent the car and stop someplace fun for lunch before checking in for your flight. :)

what time is the flight from MCO?

Plan on 4+ hr drive from POM incase of traffic issues & checkin time usually 1-2 hr prior for Domestic flights

Off the ship by 8 am get to rental place maybe on the road by 9am

would not be worth the hassle for me but it is a personal choice only you can decide what works best for you

I agree it would not be worth the hassle for me.

Not worth it for me. Rental car + gas + tolls + lunch money + lots of additional hour = not worth it to save just a few bucks.

Time really isn't an issue, we would actually get home sooner.. Cost of car rental and Uber to FLL is about a wash..

I still haven't decided.. options are

5:00 from FLL for $320 each

8:50 from FLL for $216

8:30 from MCO for $79

I'd be heading to MCO for those savings especially if it means you get home earlier or the same time.

Did that last year ... the car rental was only $9. It was a long drive though.

Probly correct. I have had one way rentals that return a car to an Orlando location for a very attractive price....although not "$9" attractive! :cool:

They must have been low on cars at MCO. They rather have someone pay a small fee than pay an employee or truck to bring the cars.

As for the OP. Keep in mind the tolls. Around $20+, and of course gas. The drive is pretty easy, non-stop on a Saturday or Sunday morning should take no more than 4 hours.
