question about getting to pool on westerdam

I need to ask minor but important question about how to find the most discrete route to pool or hot tub on Westerdam. We are going to panama canal in Dec and I know husband would like some pool time to cool down or maybe some hot tub time but after a couple of rounds of chemo and lots of steroids my body has begun to change shape and I am frankly embarrassed about parading through ship in swim suit and cover up.......we are in cabin 6094 and I was wondering if anyone familiar with Holland ships, particularly westerdam, could advise me the best route to get to pools without parading through public areas. Thanks for your help

Take the midships elevators from Deck 6 (stateroom only deck) to Deck 9 (exits at the Spa Desk) and you will be about 150 feet from the indoor pool/hot tubs. Take the aft elevators from Deck 6 to Deck 9 (exits behind the Lido Market) and you will be about 75 feet from the aft Lido Deck outdoor pool/hot tubs.

Actually the front elevators take you to the spa area where you can enter the pool area.

The midship elevators take you past the bar (port side) or Dive In (starboard side) and right to the pool.

KK has the correct information here as to which elevator takes you where on Lido Deck.

Personally, I would take the mid-ship elevator rather than the forward, if my cabin were anywhere close to it. You can wear a longer shift dress, or longer cover-up, and you would be as covered as you normally get in daytime.

I understand what you're going thru...but I can guarantee that no one pays any attention...so don't get too embarrassed! There will be many folks in worse shape than you feel you are. It's really quite amazing how, on vacations, no one notices anything but themselves!

As Ruth said, longer cover up should work. You could wear "street clothes' and change in women's locker room. Then you could ditch the wet bathing suit before returning to your cabin. Sometimes lockers are at a premium on sea days.Call spa staff, first.

I agree no one looks at anyone for more than 30 seconds. My sister continues her battle with breast cancer so I understand where you are coming from, another reason for our family cruise in 2019. My sister has maintained as long as she feels good she could care less who thinks what, you go and enjoy every minute of your wonderful cruise, God knows you have earned it. God bless.

The demographic on HAL tends to be older than many other lines as a whole. You don't normally get to that age without enduring some health hardships yourself or walked the walk with a loved one.

I find the majority HAL passengers not to be judgemental about health issues.
