Background info: Mike (56), occupation- Royal Canadian Mounted Police (Mountie), Tracy (39) Formerly a Paramedic now a Mountie, originally from Wales, UK. Arielle (17), Mitchel (15).

This was a last minute getaway, booked it one week before departure. I approached Tracy with the idea, we scrambled to get the time off from work and booked it that same day.

We booked this cruise for several reasons. Even tho we have an upcoming cruise on Carnival Miracle in October it had been a long 18 months since our last cruise in January 2011.

Some people thought we were crazy to drive to Boston to cruise back to Canada, we got teased on the ship when people found out we were Canadian returning to our own province no less.

The two ports were Saint John, New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia. We lived just outside Saint John from 1993 to 2002. Our response was we love cruising, the price was right and Boston is only a 5.5 hour drive from where we live.

Another reason was this makes cruise #7 and Miracle will be #8. Next summer we are planning a B2B on Liberty and Breeze. Cruise #9 and 10. Thus achieving our Platinum status before the Dec 31, 2013 deadline. Otherwise it would take us an extra 3 to 4 cruises to attain the 75 sea days required under the new VIFP program.

Warning, to those who have followed my reviews know that this will be a long one with tons of photos.

Pre-cruise:We left the day before, driving to just outside Boston. We stayed at the Courtyard By Marriott in Woburn.

Only $69.23 taxes included through Priceline, in a room with 2 queen size beds, mini fridge, free wireless, free parking. We had dinner nearby at one of our favourite restaurant, the Cheesecake Factory in the Burlington Mall.

Monday, June 18th , 2012: Embarkation

A couple of days before departure we received an urgent E-mail from Carnival advising us to arrive at the port at 1:30 p.m. We knew they were trying to spread out the arrival of the guests, however we wanted to get on board early and have lunch and do my customary photo tour of Carnival Glory before it got busy. We left our hotel at 10:30 a.m, stopped to pick up a couple of bottles of wine and arrived at the cruise terminal at 11:00 a.m.

We were directed to an alternate parking area because the circus had for some reason taken over the usual parking terminal. The cost was $50 for the 5 days rather than the usual $16 a day times 5 = $80. A saving of $30. We immediately boarded a bus and were driven to the cruise terminal, a short 2-3 minutes ride.

These are photos of the lot and the shuttle bus taken when we returned from the cruise.

We were met by the porters, quickly went through security, no line up to register, given placard #6, waited about 5 minutes and boarded the ship. Overall it took approximately 25 minutes from the time we arrived at the terminal.

The kids went off to have lunch while Tracy found a good spot to have a drink and relax with her book. I left to explore/photograph the ship.
