Just to lighten the mood of this board

OK I have an upcoming cruise in June, that I am so looking forward to. I love CC because it always helps keep my excitement up.

Due to all the recent downer events the front pages on this board are filled with doom and gloom. Geesh, call me desperate but right now I'd even love to see an old stand by thread. You know formal vs informal, chair hog vs entitled :D :D ;)

I thought it might be fun for those that have had it up to you know where with all of the depressing threads if we did something more upbeat.

As noted in my signature I'm new to Carnival. Maybe you could share with me your favorite thing about the last Carnival ship you went on. Or what you love most about Carnival.

Is sit on deck about 2am. It's so dark and all you hear is the water. It's almos more peaceful than watching the clear blue water during the day.

Next cruise is in 8 days and I absolutely cannot wait!! I am sooo excited !

I have been on 4 cruises with Carnival and have had nothing but good things to share about my cruises.

I have had balconies on all but the last cruise and it was an ocean view. I can tell you that I will forever remain a balcony snob. I truly enjoy having my morning coffee delivered to the room and enjoy it on my balcony. I don't have to change clothes to get my coffee!:p

We were booked on the Glory, but had to due to life issues. That is why we ended up with an ocean view on the last cruise.:(

Enjoy!

Thank you. Almost sounds eerily peaceful, but we may have to try that.

I had a relative that used to get up just before the sun and walk the track, she usually goes for a walk at home every morning but said it was such an unusual and enjoyable experience to watch the sun come up over the ocean while taking her daily walk. So we are looking forward to trying that as well.

Thanks for this thread!! :)

I loved the Breeze in January. One of my favorite things (among many) was getting my first massage on a ship. My kids all chipped in and surprised me with gift certificate which I found on our bed.

Love the new decor and just loved the whole cruise. Can't wait till April for the Fascination!

Seven cruises with Carnival and an eight one booked. Im not worried at all about problems that could arise in the future.

Neither am I!

Do you have something favorite that stands out about your last trip that you wish to share?

We were on the Breeze in Dec. and absolutely loved Guy's Burgers, and the food and beer from the RedFrog Pub. I don't know if the Glory has those venues, it sure didn't when we sailed on her, but I know she's been upgraded since then.

You must try the warm chocolate melting cake at least once! A couple other favorites of mine from the MDR are the tiramisu, and the chateaubriand.

Sitting on the Serenity Deck with my DH and a good book is something we always do....very relaxing! Or sitting in a hot tub at night, with a Miami Vice, watching the stars!

We sail on the Freedom in 44 days, and I can not wait!:)

I know on NCL the spa apparently over powers you with sales, but they can be quieted if you tell them right off that you are not interested in any spa products.

Does Carnival spa do this. Thats why I have avoided this on my past cruises because I really don't want to insult them, but love a relaxing massage that doesn't include sales pitches.

But what a wonderful surprise to find when you arrived. Gotta love being a parent to loving thoughtful children.

OK, now you are being down right mean ;). Burgers? Chocolate melting cake? Here I sit on a diet trying to be able to fit into my cruise clothes and you are teasing me with yummy food. :D

I have read many great things about both of those things and can't wait to sink my teeth into them.

I am looking forward to the serenity deck, that is completely new to me.

I have sailed Carnival and will continue. Anything can happen, anywhere, doing anything.

I love being on the deck around 5am when it is so peaceful and ready for picture taking at sunrise. I have always taken pictures of the sunrise on every cruise. I keep thinking I am going to sleep in one morning but then I am afraid I might miss the most gorgeous sunrise....

I have been on three Carnival cruises and have another planned for later this spring. Two things stand out: 1) Carnival, unlike many of the mainstream lines, has not cluttered up the top decks with flow-riders, private cabanas, exclusive patios for a few cabins, grassy lawns, etc. and have oodles of lounge chairs available there, so whether you want to stroll around, rest in the sun or the shade, be in a quiet or lively area, with people or sort of isolated, there is a place for you, even on sea days; 2) the quality of the cruise directors and cruise staff -- they are the reason these are the "fun ships."

I too have not had a bad CCL cruise but, I am looking forward to the possibility of increased number of sales as some scurry to other lines.

It is difficult to nail down just one great thing about cruises. I try to get up early (or stay up so late) to see the sun rise from a secret deck at least once per cruise. I also like to sit on the balcony or be on a secret deck with a cool cocktail to watch the sunset at least once per cruise. On the Valor in June, I absolutely loved the Mongolian Grill. Made fresh to order and well worth the 10-15 minute wait in line.

Off the ship, after touring or shopping, I like to find a local bar on the way back to the ship and try a local beer that I have never had before.

We do the exact same thing! We walk around the ship in the wee hours of the morning and just soak up the night sky! It is extremely peaceful and beautiful to me anyway!!

Then we head over for a slice of pizza and call it a night! Great times!!

I have a ton of Carnival memories, all good. However, my two favorite are, the time I booked a suite for our 10 year wedding anniversary on the Valor My husband was shocked beyond belief. He was quite funny when we first entered the cabin, he said "wow hon, we need to sail this ship all the time, look at how big these cabins are" . . . I said, Happy Anniversary Honey, next one is on you . . . LOL!

We loved the suite, but on our next cruise, we decided we wanted a Lido deck cabin. We didn't choose a specific cabin, Carnival chose it for us. We have been booking the "end unit" ever since. It's the cabin closest to the Lido deck entrance. It's the absolute perfect cabin and the are no noise or traffic issues. A lot of folks don't use that entrance to get to their cabin.

We will soon on our 2nd CCL cruise and I'm so excited. Some of my fave memories from my previous Liberty cruise:

  • Finding it hysterical that my mom (who was 79 at the time and on her 1st ever cruise) would refuse to go out on the balcony when we were at sea. She would stand in the doorway and take a quick peep and go back inside. However, she was ALL out when we were docked. Also, our late LATE night trips to the casino to donate some more money to the CCL fund.
  • Seeing DH's face when we boarded the ship, headed to the LIDO deck and managed to score a table for all of us right next to Guy's Burgers (which he had been on a mission to try).
  • My then 10 year old DS had become such a fixture at Pizza Pirate that whenever I went (or walked past it), they would ask "Hey, where's BJ?" and instantly know his preferred pizza (pepperoni). The ones at Guy's also asked after him and knew that he preferred his burgers w/out cheese.
  • Winning a ship on a stick for getting a perfect score in the 80s trivia game
  • Watching the sun rise (once or twice) from our balcony. Mom, my cousin and her DD were in the room next to ours and we had the divider removed. Cousin was an early riser and she would be out every morning.
  • Being so out sync during the rainy sail away party. They were doing a line dance and I was so spastic that even Karl took pity on me.

I could go on and on.....

Well, yes. The young lady that did my massage gave me an index card with a number of products she wanted me to consider buying. I just told her I would consider it later on and get back to her if I wanted to purchase something. She then asked me if she could call me in my cabin later to which I replied I would rather she did not.

She did get a nice tip from me though for a great massage.

I am on the Legend May 4th Venice to Barcelona. I AIN"T SCARED

I cannot wait to go. I would rather be on a ship floating in the ocean with no motor/speed whatever then a plane in the air, with no motor :p

I am about to go on my 30th Carnival cruise and the things I love about Carnival are to numerous to list them all...but here are a few...

Probably #1 would be the fabulous crew. I really enjoy sitting and talking with them, finding out about their background and way of life when they are back home with their families. It's always thrilling to be remembered by name from having cruised with them in the past.

#2 I enjoy meals in the MDR as often as it's open. I especially love the new food venues on the newer ships and the 2.0 ships like Guy's, Blue Iguana Cantina, Red Frog Pub, Bonsai Sushi, the Taste Bar...

#3 The casino is so much fun and I win just enough that I usually bring some money home.

#4 We sail mostly in inside cabins and it's so cozy and dark at night and the gentle rocking of the ship makes me sleep so deeply.

#5 Early morning sunrise walks around the exterior decks.

#6 Hot pastrami and cheese sandwiches from the Deli. Or latenight BLTs from room service.

#7 Going to one of the secret decks to watch the ship pulling into a port.

#8 Playing Cornhole or Giant Jenga in the Lobby.

#9 Being on a Carnival ship is like being in my hometown. I know where everything is, and more importantly I know the cadence of the Carnival experience.

Not every one of my 29 Carnival cruises has been perfect, but I'm confident that Carnival always has my safety as their #1 concern. I believe that they are addressing issues in a professional and thorough manner.

Just like in our own lives sometimes it seems like I just can't catch a break. I just got over being ill for several weeks and then my car broke down, then I broke a tooth and needed a root canal and crown, then I had to pay to have some plumbing issues repaired......

Hopefully things will calm back down in my life and in Carnivals world too.

I know that I can't wait to board the Conquest in just 3 weeks time. I'm already starting to pack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:p

We don't go out to eat much - so I really enjoyed getting dressed up and our dinners in the MDR. We always had great service and must have picked good items because we loved everything. Especially the Lasagna Bolganese. Finding a quiet place on deck or in a pub area. We also liked sitting up in the porthole playing cards and I especiallly liked having my bed made every day for me. Heaven. But mostly it was just the whole adventure, so far away from my every day life that I found enchanting.
