I love being with my husband and just walking the halls holding hands. I also love just sitting on deck or the balcony as the water goes by reading my Bible or my kindle knowing that I have to do absolutely nothing for myself!

As far as the spa goes I always start the conversation with I am so excited for this treatment but please do not try to sell me anything . I will purchase something if I think I need it and see it on the shelf. It has worked for me everytime.

Go on the cruise with positive thoughts and knowing you are going to fun. We have been cruising for over 25 years and have always enjoyed our cruises-just some more than others.

I love that my daughter loves to cruise with me and meets a lot of new friends!!! (cuz if she didn't, I wouldn't be able to cruise as much! :p)

We switched to Carnival because we think they have a better kids program than RCI...but I love RCI too!

Like another poster, one of our favorite things is to sit on the balcony and enjoy our morning coffee. We also would grab some sushi on the way out from dinner, and put it in the mini-fridge until later, and have that on the balcony with some wine. Can't think of many things I enjoyed more than that... :) Although, we do also have fun in the casino at night too... oh and the pool... oh and the food... oh and the.............. ;) Soooo many things to enjoy!

I am on the Legend May 4th Venice to Barcelona. I AIN"T SCARED

I cannot wait to go. I would rather be on a ship floating in the ocean with no motor/speed whatever then a plane in the air, with no motor :p

I agree!

I wouldn't be scared either and I can't even swim. just got off the Legend in January and absolutely loved this ship. I wish I could afford to take all the cruises that the Legend will be doing in the next few months. I can only dream but I would recommend this ship to anyone. The staff and crew were wonderful, and I have been on various Carnival ships and I think this was my favorite.

Thank you all, what wonderful memories you have.

Thanks for the ideas of things to do while I'm onboard that I may have not thought about.

Now this is a fun, get your excitement going, thread :)

Great thread!!

Leaving on my 10th Carnival Cruise in 8 days (Glory out of Miami). We've never had any real issues except missing Key West on our very first cruise due to a tropical storm.

I have lots of "favorite things" that keep me coming back.

Not having cell phone and Internet access is definately high on the list. It's the only time I can be completely "unplugged" from work.

Sitting on my balcony, last at night, or at sunrise or sunset. Soaking up the serenity of the ocean.

Spending time with my family, without all the distractions of everyday life.

Eating at the steakhouse with my beautiful daughter, it's a tradition for us.

Interacting with all the wonderful, smiling staff and crew. We've met some wonderful people that way and heard some very interesting stories.

Eating all the food, and not having to cook or do dishes!! :D

People-watching......'nuff said.

The comedy shows.

Seeing all the sights and meeting the people at each port we visit.

It'd be easier to list the things I don't like about being on a cruise.....if I could think of any.

Turning platinum in Sept and can't wait to board the Victory again! We never came back from a Carnival cruise when we weren't already looking at schedules and finances to figure out when the next one would be!!

We love it that the ships are not a b-o-r-i-n-g tan/mauve color from end to end, that we meet staff we had met on previous cruises and they recognized us, we always meet fun and interesting fellow passengers and count many as friends long after the cruise is over. In other words, what's to complain about??

The last few cruises have been with my kids and husband... they are all late risers, especially on sea days... what I like to do is get up early and have a quiet breakfast in the MDR... sometimes alone (or with a baby, hopefully asleep in the stroller), sometimes seated with others. If hubby gets up early, he can join me. It's just a peaceful way to start the day. I have never taken a sunrise stroll, I may have to try that too.

I agree iwth the poster who said being UNPLUGGED for a week. I have no interest in an internet package on board and am happy to keep my phone in the safe. Paradise!

OK, now you are being down right mean ;). Burgers? Chocolate melting cake? Here I sit on a diet trying to be able to fit into my cruise clothes and you are teasing me with yummy food. :D

I have read many great things about both of those things and can't wait to sink my teeth into them.

I am looking forward to the serenity deck, that is completely new to me.

Good Lord you better bring sweatpants :)

Guys burgers are awesome I ate at least one everyday

I'm looking forward to my Sunshine cruise. Can't wait. Ill be platinum. My goal was platinum by 30 when I went on my first cruise at almost 22. I'm missing it by three weeks (turn 30 three weeks before we sail).

I feel like people have their rights to be upset but they are posting about how they won't cruise again with Carnival here. Why? I personally find it to be strange. It's so "look at me!! This is what I'm doing." This is the last place carnival cares about or to read.

Well I could only afford 2 Carnival specials from west coast these past few years and having an older friend that switched careers mid life to being a cruise counselor and owning an agency... she got me drooling over all cruises/cruiselines and trips and innaugurals and long chaperoned fancy trips and a lot of history chatting of changes and each new ship for 20 years...but over the years is now on luxury only, which she deserves, and we have lost touch a bit...the past 5 years when i left the coast. And she got a little snobby about Carnival.,,I did too from her until i tried....

So with only 7 cruises in my life I think.... and a next one coming very soon..(I am on the fence between 3 LOL)..I save money.. plan last minute with work.. and with some favorites in mind from never ending playing and reading here....I always can get an ok deal.

So with all my vast history (LOL) last 2 have been Carnival...Paradise 4 day 2009 and Spirit 5 day last Easter. Yes things have gone down and noted by my 2 cruises....but they will bounce back in consistent good food and entertainment..and with these tech bumps I just know it will get fixed...and it was/is still ok..just not as good as Paradise..because i had a better "good" to compare to. I do think I may wait on Carnival for a while..but one of my options is an affordable balcony, a first, for moi, in a good location for so many things ...so hard...

Some favorites....finally...long winded me...

The happy families, they beat the grumpy ones any time and there are lots on Carnival..as a solo..they are always friendly in passing and the energy of these people is like the good feelings at Disneyland, for most people this is a very special event whether annual, every few years or first time. My second cruise I stuck my head out of my inside from a deep sleep hearing it was drill time and just said, "oh I fell so deep asleep" to myself LOL and the dad across way opened his door at same time and said "good for you". I know there are wonderful friendly people everywhere and I really am ready to try some other lines for a while..but this kind of thing is just so common on Carnival with everyone all demographics, perhaps sometimes where it may be a bit more of a sacrifice for some of this group to afford one of the more affordable lines and a cruise...and or this kind of trip...the appreciation factor is fun..looking at menus posted with these moms and kids etc. etc....it is just special.

Well shopped inside cabins and 1 A'a are a lot nicer than I thought...I had a cabin to myself for around 400 and 800 respectively and for a solo a good deal on each ship.

Room service and easy access to free ice tea and lemonade fo making my own "Arnold Palmers"

No matter how good or bad i like the live music, dj music, duos, and the shows..I just do..i guess all the nieces and nephews I have and all the school things..i like the hilareous concerts from kindergarten up and past 5 years sitting with both my parents at them..now only dad...tear drops...

I like choosing a big table and set time or anytine dining..ehatever your mood you will be with or alone some in dining room and specialty reastaurant...a nice mix.

Look forward to a chefs table some day. Look forward to ease of ship sponsored tours.

Very nice massage specials..just tell them in a nice way and tip nicely...and an 89 or 99 dollar thing is worth the 65 you pay on land and you are pampered in a nice area on the ship and enjoy the steam and sauna rooms after..often somewhere in locker room has ocean views and it is just awesome to see water from that pamper place.

Finding your quiet place inside and outside if you do not have a Balcony..or window to gaze and daydream and read and get asked if you want a drink once in awhile.

Free room service..with a minimal tip..rather small but great little menu..my orders have always come very fast.

Free soft serve ice cream.

The elegant steakhouse and free bottle of wine if you go on first night.

Plopping in first avbx chair in Lobby and the tall Vodka tonic I have waiting to get to room and people watch..LOL..my grandma was no lush but she taught me what order to do things...drink before unpacking..LOL..Sarah

We sail in 23 hours, 5 minutes, and a few seconds, but who's counting? Just got settled into the hotel in Georgia and will make the quick trip to the Jacksonville port in the morning. We're excited!

Oh lucky you, I'm still in the double digits for mine and just starting into the double digits :(

Have a wonderful cruise.

OK I have an upcoming cruise in June, that I am so looking forward to. I love CC because it always helps keep my excitement up.

Due to all the recent downer events the front pages on this board are filled with doom and gloom. Geesh, call me desperate but right now I'd even love to see an old stand by thread. You know formal vs informal, chair hog vs entitled :D :D ;)

I thought it might be fun for those that have had it up to you know where with all of the depressing threads if we did something more upbeat.

As noted in my signature I'm new to Carnival. Maybe you could share with me your favorite thing about the last Carnival ship you went on. Or what you love most about Carnival.

My lat cruise was on the Legend. On this trip we stopped to assist the Triumph who was dead in the water. My next cruise at the end of April is on the Triumph who will be a in tip top shape after the renovations due to the breakdown.

Am I worried? NOPE, not in the least. I know Carnival has the safety and well being of it's customers as a first priority.

I know on NCL the spa apparently over powers you with sales, but they can be quieted if you tell them right off that you are not interested in any spa products.

Does Carnival spa do this. Thats why I have avoided this on my past cruises because I really don't want to insult them, but love a relaxing massage that doesn't include sales pitches.

But what a wonderful surprise to find when you arrived. Gotta love being a parent to loving thoughtful children.

What I do is write on the form they give you to fill out before the treatment, "No product sales, just relaxing massage please". It has worked well for me and they get a nice tip when finished.

Since the other post that I posted this question on got buried and this post is active, I thought I would ask here if anyone knew the answer. I'm really looking forward to the serenity deck and these chairs are so cool.

I have a question about the serenity deck.

Cruising1493.jpg

Cruising1494.jpg

In the above 2 photos it shows some of these cool chairs on the serenity deck with dome covers and some without. Are these add ons that you request or do some just come that way and others don't. Also some have foot stools and others don't are they available for all.

"we stopped to assist the Triumph who was dead in the water" Well not sure about enjoyable but certainly would be memorable :)

Have a great cruise in April.
