What type of info do you look for in a cruise review?

Recommended Posts

I enjoy all reviews mostly for getting someone else's perspective. I do like balanced reviews. We go to all the shows and like the trivia type games so I appreciate any info on those issues.

Thanks in advance for sharing your adventure.

The reviews I read now are more for revisiting my own past cruises, as opposed to evaluating a particular ship and itinerary. I like good storytelling and a personal touch, and having my memory jogged about this or that feature of a cruise.

Not many people are into looking for bugs and creepy crawlies to photograph, kayaking or bicycling without guides, climbing, trekking though jungles and forests, crawling through tide pools to find cool things to record on video, and exploring the poorer areas of town -- so in that way reviews aren't typically very informative to me, because those things are what I'm into.(!)

I agree on the pictures, especially of staterooms such as suites, aft wraps etc.

Where to stay pre cruise is always a help.

I have started a list during and after our cruises with what to expect at what port. such as where to find free wi-fi, free clean beaches and good local bars/restaurants. I look for those in reviews also.

Pictures of the ship and what you enjoyed doing.

Pictures and what you did in the ports.

Actually I read and enjoy it all!!

Everyone has their own style and that is what I enjoy.

I like to see families and friends having fun.

Ports...and more ports. Whatever ship we are on makes very little difference, we don't do shows, specialty restaurants or Lido deck, basically read and lounge. If I can find a place to read a book thats quiet on board and a place to sit away from others and look over a railing....I am set. What ship we are on makes NO difference at all to us, as long as it gets us to Ports.

I love pictures!

I also like to hear about how people spent their time on the ship. It always interests me when I was on the same ship but did totally different things. There's something for everyone on a cruise.

I like reviews where it's obvious the writer had fun even if not everything was perfect. It's those "less than perfect" things that make for an interesting review, especially if the writer has a sense of humor and adventure.

ETA: Food information is great too. :)

Love seeing the pictures of the ship and anything port related.

Love to read about individual excursions.

I look for anything unusual they may have encountered

and make note of solutions, how to tips, and those hidden

gems others may not have found yet.

I have to agree with crusincrow, I love lots of pictures. And I think its really cool when a review chronicles the whole vacation (any pre or post cruise stops). I am planning to try my first review after our next cruise in july.

With everyone else, pictures and lots of them. I like seeing pictures of the food, drinks, lounge areas, serenity areas, lido deck, theaters, and any place else on the ship. I like port pictures but unless it's somewhere I'm planning to go they don't carry as much importance. I like the reviews that discuss the embark and disembark process and how that goes.

I guess I'm the only one that doesn't like reviews full of pictures. I like pictures of the pool area and maybe the atrium but showing me what the lobster looks like and especially personal pictures out on the balcony or at the beach well it reminds me of the slide shows that we used to have endure while visiting my relatives when I was a kid.

I love reviews that are more general. I want to know which dining venues they liked best and why. Hints as to what they wished they had brought with them to use in their cabin would also be good to pass on. For instance on the NCL Sun the blow dryers are old fashioned hair dryers that are affixed to the bathroom wall. Many people would prefer to bring their own blow dryer if they got the heads up prior to their cruise. I also love reading about what they decided to do in the ports and if they were happy with their choice.

I just skip over the pictures mostly and get right to the text so no need telling me to do that.;)

Personally I like to see pictures and things that shouldn't be missed! Those things that not everyone knows about or could be easily missed the the Capers (although I don't think they are called that these days)! Like a certain show, secret places on the ship or some food item that is a must try.. Other things like the best place to be during sail away to get the best view, best place to be sitting during a show, must do's in the ports. It is also always helpful to know which machine to play in the casino that pays really well :) Things you find that make you say "WOW".. Did I mention that I love to see pictures!

On one of our past cruises we came home with a couple of medals.. One for finding the person they give you hints about.. Found ours in the elevator. DH and I.. made the kiddos really mad cause they had been looking for him for an and we were not even looking! My son won a ship on a stick on the Glory in the basketball free throw competition.. Do they still do that?

I am terrible at doing reviews.. so I really appreciate anyone that takes the time to do one!

I like a review that explains why you felt something - saying service was rude or food was terrible doesn't help much but if you say food was too salty or meat was overcooked for example would be more helpful.

I also like to know a bit about the person doing the review so to see if they are similar in age and activite level to ourselves .
