DreneeH Posted January 12, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2018 Will be on the RC Symphony of the Seas for the May 27th sailing through June 3rd, departing from Barcelona. It may be a stupid question because obviously the weather can change at a moments notice, but hoping for those cruisers that have sailed within this time frame and in this area of the world - what are the chances that we would use the pools. I am assuming that if it's too cool for the pool, the hot tubs will be packed . . .
Rare Keith1010 Posted January 12, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2018 You have a very good chance of using the pool during this timeframe. I like this time of the year to sail the Med. Keith
fishywood Posted January 12, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2018 according to the AccuWeather website, the average historical temperature for Barcelona on May 27: high 73F/low 61F ...which is virtually identical to most of your home state that time of year: Nashville 80/61; Chattanooga 82/61; Knoxville 80/59. So unless you consider it too cool to go swimming at home in May, you will be fine on the Western Med, which is much more temperate than the rest of Europe. sail7seas Posted January 12, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2018 OP is not sailing HAL, however, for anyone who may b e, the main pool on HAL ships, is under a retractable roof. they often open and close the roof in Aalaska as those roofs make it possible for swimming on most itinneraries. jdvmd Posted January 12, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2018 You can definitely use the pools during this time of year. Weather should be nice.
Velvetwater Posted January 12, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2018 The pools will be fine... But then again I am the girl who was in the unheated pool in the Baltics. Must be the British temperament .
dsrdsrdsr Posted January 12, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2018 Does your ship have heated pools? If they're heated, you can swim when it's freezing outside. (Getting out isn't much fun.)
Extra Kim Posted January 12, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 12, 2018 I have sailed there in early June, I did use the pools a lot, but some days at sea the wind factory made it cooler.
Rare Hlitner Posted January 12, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 12, 2018 I believe that the Symphony has a covered adult pool complex (on the pool deck)....so even if the weather is not great....adults do have access to a pool. Hank
cheeseclan Posted January 14, 2018 #10 Share Posted January 14, 2018 We sailed the Med the end of May a number of years ago. It was hotter than blazes when we went and we loved having the pool available. My 2 boys were in it all the time.
