CC AFT on Summit

9201 was the worst! Actually all 5 on 9th deck were. From the wooden floor above us with tables & chairs sliding all day & tables falling at night as they pressue wash all the puke, beer, and various other crap down on our balconies & furniture is soaking wet & not usable. They do this at 2AM & 5AM daily! They also have the worst singer/guitarist named Paul. When he does Roy Orbinson he turns into a comedian it is so bad....

If you hate smoke stay away as they advertise daily for cigar & pipe smokers to go there to smoke & it trails down on our deck's balconies. And the engine noise, like the Trojans drummer from USC all night.

Buffet is a joke also, with no trays being carried & when asked why they don't I am told it is a waste of time when tables need to be cleaned, etc. They do not refill coffee or get juices either.

Summit was quite disappointing with staff & John Howell as CD. BORING!

Even the lecturers for the cruise were always stating "I don't know" as an answer to questions by those attending.

Seems we were on a different cruise, I and everybody else I spoke to had a fantastic time, loved Paul, the buffets, the lectures and could not complain about the service at all. And I really don't understand how anybody could be unhappy with John, Mark, Tommy, Jennifer, Sandi and the rest of the activity staff.

since the 5 stateroom that were were not hapy cruisers with all the noise, smoke, stink from the bar upstairs being washed down on our clean areas. We love to eat breakfast at our dressed table and enjoy the wake, dolphins ,whales, turtles & other great things in the sea but not on Summit. Do you want to with puke on your glass, beer smell in 90 dgree heat and flooded seats & tables????

So those on 8 & down surely enjoyed their cruise that they didn't pay $6K for with air, for what we love on AFT CC but not on Summit!

No champagne or escort on entry, even shipboard credits we had to fight for since they had nothing the first week. Stephanie was the only "helpful" person, from contacting folks to get things corrected since I had proof of everything.

Even CDS was 10 days late appearing with 2 shows that night & that was it. Many folks asking about them & their new show & the folks aboard knew nothing.

Summit gave me a bad taste of Celebrity after 2 great cruises on Connie & Infinity. Now we are wondering if we want to do the Reunion cruise in May, tho we are on 7 this time, and hope for much better.

Sounds to me like what was "going around came around"! Maybe you SHOULD try another line, doesn't sound like Celebrity is for you!

Strange. I had that exact room last year.

Nothing could be furthur the opposite.

Room noize was minimal. Like in I had to open the sliding doors to hear anything up above.

The chairs were wet the first am - but did not smell or anything.

We just moved them into the sun and they dried out.

The music from above is nice at night when your getting ready for dinner.

Just slide the door open and lock it in place.

We just moved the chairs under the overhang to miss the spray from the AM cleanup. Logic used here.

We used the large balcony for our nightly get together - 10 in all most nights.

Buffet was great every day - lots of choices. I sat up on the back bar area some evenings - while the wife was getting ready. There were not a lot of people there only about 20 or so at a time spread out across the back of the ship. No one spilling or chucking on the deck. And even if they did the crew would have come and cleaned it up and not just sprayed it down onto the deck below.

As for the other small things missing. That is staff allocation and where they are moving them.

Perhaps the CC aft cabin on deck 9 was the last one available and you could not get deck 8 or deck 7. But you knew, didn't you, the drawbacks of that location. We were in a CC on the side aft and heard the chairs and tables being moved in the night. But we slept with the door open and the air off, so I knew I'd hear it. if we expect the buffet to be ready for service at 6 a.m. then the work has to be done in the night! i ou don't like the buffet, you can always do room service or go to the restaurant, you know.

John Howell is one of the most enthusiastic CDs I've ever seen. You must be kidding. On our Summit cruise everyone loved him.

It seems that you didn't enjoy anything about your cruise! Sorry about your cabin but you should have known what you were getting.

As for the singer, Paul, we enjoyed him many nights!

Many time when I was in the Waterfall Cafe my coffee was refilled. I'm just amazed you were on the Summit. You describe things on the Summit I've never seen and I've sailed on her four times.

As for the staff on the Summit -- they have always been wonderful to us and on the last trip we first met John Howell and he was charming, thoughtful and always had a smile and kind word.

did you *need* your tray carried for you at the buffet? I have noticed a decline in those offers during our six X cruises over three years and frankly, I'm relieved -- I'm relatively young and quite able to carry it myself and I was getting a little tired of having to say "no thank you" (with a smile, of course) several times along the way from the buffet to our table! *but* I have noticed on all those cruises, the waiters are still standing by, ready to offer help to older folks, children, anyone who really NEEDS help -- TR

Gee, you book 14 months in advance to get the AFT Cabin you want...........and then you hate it. Kinda have to agree with the others, seems like nothing pleases you.

We were on the Summit on the 9th deck for Alaska in September and it was wonderful! We met and talked with John Howell and he was charming. All of the staff from our cabin attendant to our waitstaff couldn't have been nicer. The service was fabulous and I'm really looking forward to our next cruise in March on this same ship. They did wash off the deck above us, but certainly had no problems with water getting our chairs wet. We always moved them back from the balcony so they would be under the overhang before retiring. That was a very simple thing to do. Did it never occur to you to pull them back?

We heard no engine noise and certainly had no problem with smoke (after all, smoke rises). Maybe you had a smoker in the deck below you.

Did you use your black light as promised? No upgrade??? Is that what's upset you so much? :confused:

I did notice on my last two cruises that there was less tray carrying. i don't particularly want it because then my slow husband can't find me! But I have white hair, so they probably think I need it. ha Also, there was less refilling of coffee/tea etc. but I think it was because we didn't linger on those two cruises, whereas we lingered alot on the longer voyage to Panama.

Sorry MACOP, but I have to lay it on the line: I don't believe a thing you wrote about your Summit cruise. I've been in a Summit 9th deck aft cabin and have not experienced ANY of the problems you've described (with a strange emphasis on "puke"). And John Howell is one of the best CDs in the cruise business.

My take on your experience from all your posts on the subject:

1. Celebrity knew you were coming with your black light ready to catch them out for an upgrade
   
2. They decided to keep you waiting for your bus, filled it up and then laughed when you tried to get on with no seats left
   
3. They had a special MACOP Captains Club/Concierge Aft Cabin 200 sq ft balcony check in line ready for you to wait longer than everyone else
   
4. The photography staff weren't yelling at you "PHOTO", but "GO HOME"
   
5. The staff in the buffet were ordered not to carry your tray under any circumstances and to trip you up if they got a chance. I am glad it didn't go that far
   
6. The staff in the cafe above your cabin 9201 were ordered by the Captain to stamp their feet and puke over your balcony at every opportunity. They had read about you carrying lots of soft drinks on trays to your cabin and decided that some extra beer (without glass) was in order too
   
7. As long as you could hear him on your 200 sq ft balcony, the guitarist was asked by the Cruise Director to play all the right notes on his guitar, but not necessarily in the right order (thank you Eric Morecambe for this line)
   
8. Guest Relations decided to have a bit of fun with you. They got so confused with all the onboard credits you were claiming that they thought they would save one up for your Alaska cruise, just to see if the thought of a $100 would tempt you back
   
9. All of the staff and lecturers were instructed to be boring and unfriendly if they saw you
   
10. Oh, back to number 1. They knew you were coming;)
