  1. I have rain proof athletic shoes (Brooks Ghost GTX) which I wear all year when it rains back home.
  2. I second this idea. Plus the train ride to Seward provides stunning beauty.
  3. I got my seat assignment the day I traveled. I wouldn't worry as even the bad seats have great views.
  4. If this is the end of your cruise - you can book the transfer on the ship. Though your travel agent should be able to book a transfer from Whittier to Anchorage. They often will taken you to the Egan Center as a holding spot. You can leave your luggage there and explore Anchorage until your flight. There is then several shuttles to the airport as most flights are late. What time is your flight from Anchorage? That potentially could cause an agent not to book a transfer though I think you are dealing with inexperienced agents.
  5. Whittier is a tad simpler (not by much), Seward is a better port. Most miss the ports all together as they will do a transfer and go directly on to the ship. If you do go with Celebrity, go down a day or two earlier as it is a great port. On the other hand, Celebrity doesn't go to Glacier Bay. So I would choose Princess.
  6. As a company overall - I won't buy TravelGuard anymore. I find Allianz easy to work with and have successful claims with them (with out issues). I have never bought an annual plan.
  7. That would be my guess is as well. I have had success in ports and not in other ports. I don't think it is a blanket statement of yes or now for all ports.
  8. One of these maybe old. PC_CalCoast_2025-2026_At_a_Glance_Flyer_Nov2023.pdf2024-2025_WestCoast_ReferenceFlyer_NE_2023_0713.pdfPC_Panama Canal 2025-26_Reference Flyer_2023_1129.pdf
  9. I would probably take cruise like transfers to Anchorage and then train to Seward. You will probably need to spend the night in Anchorage though as the train to Seward is early. I haven't taken Seward bus lines - maybe that time works with your schedule. Are you catching a ship in Seward? If so, you can probably get a cruise line transfer that way once in Anchorage.

  11. The prices were incredibly inexpensive at the sailings I looked at. I have no doubt they were full though.

    Whittier

There used to be 2 companies in Whittier and now I believe there is only one, Phillip's Cruises.
  13. I have had mixed luck bringing restaurant food on the ship. Sometimes they have let me and other times, I have had to throw it out. I don't know why I was allowed sometimes and not other times.
  14. I bought a $1000 piece of art (original) that was hanging in a hotel that I stayed at before a cruise when I was in Whistler, BC. I didn't realize it was for sale and contacted the artist after I left the hotel (I had taken a picture of the art before I left). I liked that I supported a local artist in the area. I later commissioned her to paint another piece and bought a 3rd piece. They are all originals and they all remind me of Whistler. This was my first time buying original art. I had planned on meeting the artist on a trip there last fall but I broke my wrist before I got there. I have gotten to know her via phone calls, texts and emails. The art makes me smile whenever I see it in my house and reminds me of my vacations to the area. I have never bought any art on a ship before. First time buying original art. My thought was if not now, then when? I didn't want to wait until I am in my 70's or whatever age because now I can enjoy it for decades to come.
