  1. The only justification I can see for AOV's internet restrictions, given the switch to Starlink, is perhaps that AOV frequents the polar regions and Starlink's bandwidth may be limited in those regions? I don't know if that's true or not, but it kinda makes sense. I guess the other reason for the restriction could be, that by offering free internet that is inadequate for many, AOV keeps alive their revenue stream for internet packages - while advertising "free internet".
  2. I would have thought that once @chengkp75 explained why surge protectors are not required on ships, the argument would end. Now I feel stupid, because this being Cruise Critic, arguments never seem to end. I should have known better 😁
  3. See my reply in post # 76
  4. I received a notice from the U.S. District Court in Colorado for jury duty. There was a link to request to be excused from serving. One of the check boxes for requesting to be excused was stating that you were 70+ years of age. I don't know if this exemption applies to municipal or other courts, but it does for the U.S. District Court in Colorado. Here's the relevant section from the U.S. District Court in Colorado FAQ... What are grounds for requesting a permanent excuse and how do I request one? You may request an excuse if: you are disabled with a permanent or chronic condition that prevents you from serving. (A doctor's note is required. It may be faxed to 303-335-2714 or emailed to jury_clerk@cod.uscourts.gov. Please include your 9 digit participant number.) you have served as a grand or petit juror in any court within the last two years (Proof must be submitted); you are a person over 70 years of age; you are a person who is essential to the care of a child or children under ten years of age; you are a person who is essential to the care of an aged or infirm person; you are a person who resides outside the jury division from which you were summoned; you are a person who serves without compensation as a volunteer fire fighter or a member of a rescue squad or ambulance crew for a federal, state, or local government agency; you are a person employed as a federal law enforcement officer with arresting authority; or if there is any other reason or undue hardship that would prevent you from serving as a juror in which the court would require additional information. If your situation falls within category (9), please be specific. Excuses must be submitted by the date specified on your written instructions. source: Jury FAQs | US District Court of Colorado (uscourts.gov)
  5. I hope you are right about this. It's the main reason I haven't yet booked EJ.
  6. I'd call the airline and verify that the flight is not cancelled. I've noticed that on some sites, flights don't show up if there are no longer seats available.
  7. I can understand insurance excluding claims due to the traveler having issues with immigration, but excluding claims because of immigration issues unrelated to the traveler that occurred on a different sailing? That's outrageous. 😡
  8. It always interests me to see how different people are. Personally, it wouldn't matter to me if tensions in the region seemed to ease, and Crystal decided to keep the itinerary - I'm not going!
  9. It's not my cup of tea, but given your description of what you're looking for, the obvious choice for you is Virgin. It delivers on the food front and offers plenty of social activities that it seems would appeal to you. If you haven't looked into Virgin, I'd encourage you to take a look.
  10. If you are a suite passenger on Celebrity and are considering the MSC Yacht Club, you will be pleasantly surprised. If you are a non-suite passenger on Celebrity and are considering a MSC cabin outside of the Yacht Club, you will likely be disappointed.
  11. I guess in a free market system, we should probably blame the people who actually buy junk from Park West for this situation. If they'd stop buying, Park West would disappear.
  12. Yep. Good price, but can't say I'd be thrilled about a TA ending in Arricife. Maybe they want to encourage people to make it b2b?
  13. Aren't the gondola prices standardized? I'm sure that's what I read recently.
  14. Maybe one contributing factor in low sales volume is the lack of unique or attention-grabbing itineraries. I've wanted to give EJ a try, but when I look at the itineraries I'm less enthusiastic.
