There have been a number of posts, here and on the one we cant mention, which do seem to indicate that many of these cabins are quite good, these are higher than the prom deck and dont feel overlooked, and the balcony doors have a coating to create privacy glass.
Strange how we are all different, we met far more people who loved Iona last cruise, in fact I dont remember anyone we met and talked to over meals or in the bars or clubhouse, who were not positive about their experience.
I wonder why that was?
David, I don't think cruise ships are like homes under the hammer, where you can make money with a cheap renovation. Much more likely to sell old ships as is, and let the new owner refurbish it to their own tastes.
I suppose I am against bible thumping gatherings, but I fully understand why AA would want to have meetings while on holiday, singles get togethers also seem to be a sensible idea for those travelling alone. I suppose I do understand why Lgbt+ want to have get togethers, especially whilst prejudice is rife, but I happen to think that the high profile "Gay Pride" events do not really help the LGBT community to fully integrate.
I have a granddaughter who is in a same sex relationship and who has attended some gay pride gatherings. However whilst I have no prejudice at all against gays, I still do not understand why they feel it necessary to have such gatherings. I feel no desire to flaunt my sexual preference, or attend overt gatherings lauding them.
Going for a stroll around somewhere you have been before, which is what we .mainly do, isn't really the same as seeking out the local culture and visiting different places.
Very many holiday cottage type holiday companies want final payment 3 months out, just like P&O, granted Premier Inn type hotels do offer an option to pay on arrival.
I think when it comes to cruising you are in a minority. If you really want to immerse yourself in culture somewhere interesting, then you are much better doing a land based holiday, and IMO the majority of new cruisers do want a floating resort.
I have already expressed my doubts that environmental issues are likely to significantly impact the cruise industry. Will check back with you in 10 years time, if I am still here.
There is that to consider, but my main reason for using meet and greet parking at the port, is the ease and speed at which you arrive and depart. No taxi or shuttle to phone, no luggage to load into a taxi and then the car, and for us, no wheelchair and wife to load up twice.
I always thought shorts were acceptable in the buffet for dinner, as well as being OK in most entertainment venues and bars, certainly in the Caribbean and the Med in high summer.
We did several Florida holidays last century, some cruise some beach, and flew there on US Airways via Philadelphia. Don't know if connecting to an internal flight helped, but we seldom had any significant immigration delays.
