  1. I’ve posted several times that I did a B2B2B2B2B on the Discovery. Originally I had 7 day Mexico Riviera cruise booked. My CVP told me about the 1/2 price promotion. I booked a 4 day and a 5 day cruise before my cruise so I could take advantage of the promotion before the next two cruises sold out. Also I would have enough OBC to buy the plus package on the two cruises. In other words I booked two cruises at 1/2 price and actually had a premier package and plus package paid for with OBC. Also, Princess now has 3 or 4 people working in the Future Cruise office, so now the wait is much shorter.
  2. Tried the Yoga Fitness classes (two included in Plus, unlimited in Premier). First two were crowded, not much after that. I didn't attend more, because they were charging $30 for a 30 minute basic yoga class and I didn't care for the instructor. Had Premier for a week. Only thing we added was $18 Silverado cabernet vice $9 Canyon Oaks. Liked Canyon Oaks better, but we're among those who can't tell oak from pear at the wine tastings. Didn't win anything from Princess Prizes when we returned to our cabin. Just better luck next time or casino is closed. For us Plus is fine.
  3. We recently completed 5 B2Bs on the Discovery Princess. The first two I bought the Plus package prior to the cruise, because they weren't accepting OBC yet. That started February 20. #3 I had bought the Plus package at the old rate. On #4 I went to the PSD to buy the Plus package with my OBC and he said we were eligible for an upgrade to the Premier package for $420. We had been ordering Canyon Oaks Cabernet under the plus package. I think it was $9 a glass. The first night the server asked why we weren't ordering Silverado ($18 a glass), since we had Premium. So, we got Silverado for the rest of the cruise. We actually liked the cheap wine better. I got tired of the Medallion device on my cabin door telling me better luck next time on the Princess Prizes. We didn't try any of the other features of Premier. I had already gotten tired of their Yoga fitness classes, which weren't any good. On cruise #5 I had enough OBC to buy the Plus, since Premier had only cost $420 on cruise #4, They charged $908, which I assume was $840 plus $68 insurance. Now, after trying both packages, the Plus package was worth it. Premier wasn't, unless it was offered as an upgrade.
  4. That's great! Wish I had known this in February.
  5. You were able to use your remote to change inputs on the cabin tv on the Discovery Princess so you could connect your device?
  6. I received mine today. Surprisingly it works fine with my LG and Samsung TVs at home. Good investment for $9.00. We will soon be sailing on the NCL Bliss, Holland America Bliss, and Princess Sapphire in the next few weeks. I'll share if I get results. We also won't be on the Discovery until next year's solar eclipse cruise. Have my doubts on specialized TVs, but who knows. Thanks for the link.
  7. I suggest OP follow the rules rather than take a chance on whether or not they are enforced. I don't see it being helpful to post anecdotal instances of getting away with it.
  8. I have a cruise in three weeks. I ordered the medallion. I saw the $10 charge. I don't care one way or the other.
  9. We have a cruise coming up on the Sapphire with two other couples. Hope to apply it to a table of six.
  10. We are a party of two who recently sailed 5 B2B cruises on the Discovery (30 days). We had a DMW reservation for a table for two on the Medallion App for 5:00 every evening. On the first night we decided we liked our servers, so asked if we could dine at the same table every night. For the rest of the cruise we could bypass the lines and go directly to our table. Thus, time to get to an event was never a factor, unless it was an early event like sailaway.
  11. We had Princess Vacation Protection. The cost of the Plus package using OBC on cruise #5 was $909.86. $840 + $69.86. I assumed they added the extra cost of insurance.
  12. I am saying I don't think a universal remote would work, so I wouldn't try. I was in 5 different cabins on the Discovery and the manual procedure that worked on the Enchanted was locked out on all of them. If a universal remote worked I think someone would have posted it by now.
  13. I wouldn’t if I were you. I just spent a month on the Discovery
  14. They were available on my recent cruises on the Discovery Princess.
  15. I would wait until you are on the ship. We recently sailed on a B2B2B2B2B on the Discovery Princess. I had booked the first 3 cruises prior to sailing with the Plus packages. I booked cruises 4 & 5 after sailing to take advantage of a 1/2 price sale without the plus package. At the start of cruise #4 I went to the PSD to book the Plus package using OBC. He told me I was eligible for an upgrade to Premier without having to purchase the Plus package. In other words I got Premier for $420 instead of Plus for $840. From now on I add the package after embarkation. Don't buy a drink until the plan is activated. That left me enough OBC to buy the Plus Package on cruise #5. There will be standing at different places on embarkation trying to sell the packages.
  16. Perhaps the bean counters at Princess looked at your examples and decided that maybe you aren't their best customers. Maybe the best customers are the ones willing to pay the inflated costs of packages, Princess excursions, and internet. They aren't making these changes to be mean, they're doing it to increase the bottom line. Only time will tell if they are right, but by that time many of their former best customers will have died off or be too old to cruise anyway.
  17. My recent experience taking Yoga classes on the Discovery Princess was Day 1 & 2 was close to capacity (20 I believe), because people had a package. The Aerobics Room is fairly small. The remaining days dropped to very few, when people had to start paying. Not many were going to pay $30 for a 30 minute basic yoga class. In the past, one could take a fitness class as part of a package depending on the number of sea days. I think I remember paying $80 plus 18% gratuity for 5 classes. Those classes seldom had more than 5-6 people. Last year on the Enchanted I was the only one in the class. The instructor was the only personal trainer on board. He hurt his back, so he had to give my money back. Discovery had 3 trainers under a new contract with Xponential Fitness, Everything was the same. When they aren't holding classes they are trying to sell something in their seminars like orthotics or personal training.
  18. Much of ours gets put away until the next cruise.
  19. You might start by rereading the Passage Contract. It's pretty clear.
  20. Trying to plug a cable into a HDMI outlet behind the TV with limited access increases the risk of breaking something. I bring a laptop or iPad to review my iPhone videos and pictures. I used to bring an HDMI cable to watch movies on the TV. It's their TV, so I am fine with them limiting access and deciding how it will be used. Better than the one on my last NCL cruise, which wasn't much bigger than a computer monitor.
  21. Possibly even less who take advantage of the fitness classes.
  22. Not just bridge cams. I have been having trouble looking at deck plans, too.
  23. Win win for everybody, because it costs Princess very little to provide all of that.
  24. I think they don't want people messing with the tv.
  25. Looking forward to trying it out. Ropes Course too.
