Be Careful What You Buy on Board
Spurschick replied to nelblu's topic in Royal Caribbean International

When I booked my JY I had full option of availability for every cabin in that category. Probably helped that I was online when bookings opened. So no hey we’re not slowly releasing suites - would make no sense as that was the first category they would want to sell as that’s their revenue generator. Hours later they were sold out. I do know they drip fed some of the lower category cabins.

We booked our sky JS and very glad we did - we were looking at 2 dates only due to other bookings we have and now for both sailings we wanted all the sky JS suites completely sold out. so it really depends on what you are looking for as to whether you book now or later

It includes access to the Thermal area, which is the Saunas, Steam Rooms, Salt Room, Thermal chairs, Snow room, Sensory rooms and Whirlpool Bath. On Royal it is only included for Star Class MSC Thermal Spa has far more different types of options and is vastly larger than RC Spa Thermal Suite.

Recommendation for RCL ship for Celebrity Fans
Spurschick replied to Maggie4nc's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Not necessarily - just because someone likes Celebrity does not mean they would like Royal. Firstly the type of demographics onboard are completely different, as is the overall experience. Also, I noticed a big difference in the food onboard. That’s like saying Carnival Corp own Carnival, Princess, HAL, Cunard and Seabourn and more so if you sail one you will like all of them. They are different brands for a reason. celebrity regard themselves as luxury. Royal is not. Not everyone wants to sail luxury - more formal dress code etc onboard, likewise those that like luxury do not necessarily want to sail non luxury -
Correct. Inside, balcony and suite guests in YC all get same service, same benefits and same experience. Literally the only difference is the cabin. All of the above get drinks, wifi, concierge, butler, top sail access and thermal suite access. Only add on is gratuities.

We are doing Retreat soon. But I do agree - our Butler on MSC and the overall experience on MSC YC was far superior than what we got with out Genie in Star Class. We would rather get Sky and a dining package and forget the genie. The concierge can do show and dining reservations- there was probably only 2 things we asked our genie for all week. 1 was accommodated but delivered late, the other we were asked if we could change our times as she was busy with her other cabins. And whilst she reserved seats her choice of location was neither desirable not comfortable (sorry but I don’t call bar stools in the comedy club comfortable) I can get 2 or 3 cruises on MSC in YC for what we paid for our lackluster Star Class. Can’t wait to see how retreat compares.

Galveston...Princess is moving in.
Spurschick replied to Goodtimes57's topic in Gulf Coast Departures
It’s called Moody Gardens. Get the cruise package. Valet park at the hotel, they shuttle you to the port. Then on return they have your vehicle ready for you to get straight into when you get back and parking is included for the duration of your cruise. So once you get to hotel no need to move you car again. -
It can’t always be sunny
Spurschick replied to LadyYadaYada's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I live in Florida and trust me, where we are it rains more often than not and I never take a raincoat. Why because just like the Caribbean you can look at the sky tell when it’s going to rain, wait for the downpour then go back to enjoying yourselves! unless it’s a tropical storm/ hurricane will pass by quite quickly. caribbean is pretty much the same, humidity builds up, downpour comes then bright skies again. -
Or if you are in a suite get the suite concierge to book before you board

New terminal in Galveston Texas - Progress
Spurschick replied to bgoff60's topic in Royal Caribbean International
My BDM said absolutely no plans to move any Celebrity ship to Galveston in the foreseeable future -
The language is there just reworded To be considered fully vaccinated by the countries we visit: A guest is considered fully vaccinated 14 days after the required number of doses in their vaccine series have been fully administered (e.g. 2 shots of Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, etc., or 1 shot of Johnson & Johnson). Vaccines must be approved for use by the country they are sailing from. We strongly recommend that fully vaccinated guests also get a booster dose when they become eligible to do so.

When we have looked in the past it hasn’t varied whenever we looked regardless of length of cruise so for example when we did Indy 4 night that alternates with 3 nights I have never seen it switch to 3 night menu if I looked on a weekend and then switch back to 4 night menu midweek
-
Not sure when you are sailing but If you go into app and select dining you can view menus for each day in there.

Are ships back to 100% capacity?
Spurschick replied to gizbug's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Thanksgiving you will be well over 100% -
Well I was at Coco Cay 2 weeks ago as well as Labadee and we were discussing it with the crew in the Suite lounge. it makes sense for RC to take their own supplies where else do you think they are they getting the food from?

It’s called inflation and also an excuse to increase price of drinks package

Are Pier Runners a Thing of the Past?
Spurschick replied to NeepierRoad's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Agreed we are normally out wanting to watch the delayed sailaway 🙄 -
And some depending on cabin type booked. Stay in Star class and it costs more than that for 1 week

Are Pier Runners a Thing of the Past?
Spurschick replied to NeepierRoad's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Guessing they have never paid attention to not setting sail on time either! we have been late departing multiple times due to waiting for pier strollers as not many actually run that fast -
All food on island comes from the ship so once docked they then have to get all the food supplies off the ship and into the island. They then have to get everything prepared ready to serve. They have no way to be prepared to feed the masses breakfast ashore as priority is prepping for lunch.

Offers received from Club Royale (Royal Caribbean)
Spurschick replied to Daghis's topic in Cruise Casinos
Problem is we are in comped JS so looked at what the “casino price” was at time of booking on invoice. As I saw only $1k difference between booking invoice and booking new CLS thought I would try but they will not consider the amount from the booking invoice. JS now fully booked and lots of CLS available but they are saying upgrade cost is difference in cost in their system not from what was booked 🙄 -
Same with Royal ups - I have seen people that bid on Royal up and won, but don’t like the cabin assigned but there is no inventory left to switch cabins.

Dining questions: early vs mytime & windj
Spurschick replied to Wetmib's topic in Royal Caribbean International
They are not automatically deleted no so when you book the specialty restaurants let them know to cancel your mtd reservations for that night. We just got off Harmony and when we booked specialty our original dining plans were still in our planner.
