  1. When is your cruise? If it's more than 90 days or so, they are most likely still adding excursions to the available choices. We went to Isla Pasion several years ago on a Carnival cruise and it was absolutely gorgeous, but I've never found it available on an RCCL cruise.
  2. @dwHokiewhen we are in Cozumel next week, there will be five ships, so not quite as packed as yours was. We are in port from 8:00 to 18:00. Re: the Playa Mia excursion, did you use the ship's excursion or book independently? We purchased the ship's excursion including transportation, so I'm hoping the return wait that your wife had won't be an issue for us.
  3. @dwHokiewe are from that town "between a Rock and a weird place" 🙂 and are cruising on Adventure from Galveston at the end of this week. Looking forward to reading your review of the new terminal, as well as Playa Mia which we have also booked.
  4. Love your review, your sense of humor, and your dogs. 🙂 We are on Adventure in a couple of weeks.
  5. Haha, no, it's more to avoid the tripping hazard. 🙂
  6. We've cruised several times with the four of us in one cabin. Yes, it's crowded but completely do-able. Rule #1 is don't leave your shoes in the middle of the floor. 🙂
  7. Well, just saw this on a certain blog: In a Q&A session on Wonder of the Seas on Thursday, Michael Bayley told travel agents that the cost to use the chat feature will be removed starting January 1, 2023. My cruise is Dec. 31, so I guess we'll just wait until Day 2 to chat in the app. 🙂
  8. Hmmm, well, given everyone's replies, I'm thinking we'll just make our plans while we are all together in person and forget the app.
  9. I think I understand that you have to be onboard first but how do you actually use the app to communicate with others in your group?
  10. @cyntso glad I found this thread. Still catching up from a few I missed a few over the TG holidays. We're on Adventure in a couple of weeks and have reserved parking in the North lot. Your descriptions and pictures are very helpful.
  11. We've got one booked on Adventure the first week in January (2023).
  12. We're on Adventure in a few weeks. I had looked for the main dining menus in the app several weeks ago and found them, but a few weeks later, they were gone. Then I realized that the app has three selections for Main Dining -- one for the reserved traditional dining times and two for the My Time dining. The My Time dining did not show the menu but the Main Traditional one did. If you aren't finding it under one thing, check the other two.
  13. We're on Adventure on New Year's Eve from the new terminal. Hope y'all can report in how the embarkation goes. Love seeing the webcams.
  14. The RCCL website has deck plans for each ship but they are not very specific as to whether a particular cabin has the Pullmans or the sofa bed. There is another website that I don't think I can name here but it has more specific details on the sleeping accommodations for the 3rd and 4th persons. Are you are willing to say what cabin number you have?
  15. We cruised on Serenade a few months ago and this tour wasn't offered, but we've booked it for Adventure in January, so I guess it's somewhat recently been added/resumed. It's two hours long. Has anyone been on this lately? Do you walk up and down stairs for each location you visit? I can do stairs in small amounts but I'm not sure I could walk upstairs from the galley to the bridge. 🙂
  16. I have the same problem for me, DH and DS1 and DS2. I make all the bookings using our home email and I created the log-in for the RCCL website. So my C&A status shows up, but theirs doesn't. DH tried to use the app to check his C&A points but because he used our home email on the app, it came up with my name. We'll figure it out or end up calling Royal, I guess.
  17. We did Tulum with a lunch on the beach in June 2017 on Liberty of the Seas. I would definitely take a ship's excursion for this ... with the ferry ride to and from the mainland, it is a long excursion. Plus we had rain on the way back into town, which delayed us a bit. Yes, there is a small beach at the base of the Tulum ruins, but the beach and lunch that we had was back into town a bit. It looks like a shack but the lunch was delicious and the sand and water were beautiful. They had chairs and table both in the shade and in the sun. It was in the summer so it was very hot and humid, but the ruins are incredible to see.
  18. The Canada/Alaska port thread has a lot of info on this. Canada (Alaska/Pacific Coastal) Cruises Q&A: Find Tips & Recommendations - Cruise Critic Message Board Forums You can also look at the West Coast Departures thread.
  19. I think I'm Emerald now ... so if I call the 800 number, I can get water and snacks? Is there a list somewhere of the perks you get for the different levels?
  20. " ... The Windjammer was pretty good when we did go for breakfast, 2nd breakfast, elevenese, lunch, and second supper...." This line made me laugh. After our first cruise many years ago, my husband would tell people "It's like being a baby. Two-hour feedings." 🙂
  21. Our first family cruise was to Alaska in 2011 (oldest son's high school graduation). For Christmas, I got everybody a rain jacket (wrapped individually), long-sleeved tshirts/Henleys, and a couple of other gifts like that. Then -- and this was back in the day when you didn't book online, you got the big RCCL "wish book" brochure -- I wrapped the brochure in a box with little sticky tabs on the page for the specific cruise we were going on. So, by the time they saw the brochure, they had pretty well figured it out.
  22. I remember other threads similar to this too, maybe not a holiday surprise cruise but just a surprise cruise. My thoughts are don't wait to tell people. I am the cruise planner in my house and we've got a New Year's Eve 2022 cruise booked but I told my family back in July. I love the anticipation of it, so I would feel cheated if I didn't have lots of time to look forward to it. Plus everybody needs time to get passports, wardrobe, look at excursions, etc. You can always gather everybody to "watch a movie" and then pull up videos of the ship, ports, etc.
  23. @smokeybandityou mentioned linked reservations. How do you link reservations for two cabins, either in the app or when logging in online? Here's my problem: I have two cabins reserved on Adventure in January. The second cabin is for my son and his GF, but I'm paying for everything. When I made the reservations with our TA, each cabin has its own reservation number. I used my log-in information for both reservation numbers, so when I log in online on the website, I see my cabin ressie number and theirs. But in the app, I only see mine ... even though an excursion that I purchased in Cozumel for both cabins shows up in the app. When it comes time to check in, I want to be able to check in for both cabins, but the app only shows me my cabin, not my son's. Am I okay or am I missing something? I guess I could do the check-in on the computer since both ressie numbers shows up there.
