  1. Absolutely highlight it with Captain Kate! And every other media platform available. She’s happy to enjoy the limelight when things are good so she also needs to address the bad. I’m not affected by these cruises directly but, as a loyal Celebrity cruiser with 3 cruises booked for the coming year, I am now looking to book elsewhere as this could happen to any of us.
  2. European airlines have an obligation to ‘put right’ any delays or cancellations and I find it shocking about the way you have been treated. I hope your writer friends take notice of your plight. There’s a few heartbreaking stories out there about the effect this has had on people who have saved thousands for the trip of a lifetime only to have it dashed and no compensation given. Shoddy service.
  3. MEYER WERFT! My brother has worked there for many years and I find this speculation about private island, RCL, blah, blah, blah, fascinating. Every Edge Class ship is going to this shipyard over the next few years to get the infinite balconies redesigned. Celebrity have a massive campaign ready and are putting the customers’ views to the forefront. Refreshing to tell us that, as a company, we got it wrong but will right the wrong! Common sense at last.
  4. Well done for posting this. We’ve stood up for staff before and apologised to staff on a short ‘booze’ cruise from Southampton. There’s a miserable woman who posts nothing but negativity on here. Can’t wait to see her comments. We, as a group, need to challenge these people who flout the dress code (I’m on vacation and I’ll do what I want) and those who are just plain rude or complain endlessly.
  5. If it leaks then you might be in trouble!
  6. I remember your cruise last year and you weren’t happy with anything there either. Have you tried another cruise line?
  7. This made for disturbing reading until I realised the Kids Club was also used for other activities!!! 😝
  8. Our favourite Celebrity ship and she’s been based in the UK for the last few summers. Crew are amazing and the vibe on board is noticeable. We will miss her!!
  9. How nice that a regular Captain, who doesn’t try to steal the limelight, is taking a new ship for a change!
  10. The undersides need to be cleaned. Barnacles grow on barnacles, weed and the azipods (propellers) need to be checked as do the thrusters. Lots of stuff we never think about and take for granted beneath the waterline!!! A fresh lick of paint too. Just like a beautiful lady taking time to do her make up! Makes her feel better
  11. In the really big suites they had water beds but had to get rid of them. They found that too many couples were drifting apart!!
  12. Really? I’d never have guessed!
  13. The previous posters have summed this up perfectly. One final note….. do not spoil it by going P&O. Cheap product and completely different clientele from Celebrity.
  14. Huh. Done the Concierge Class luncheon and thought it was ok, nothing more. Only reason we booked the cabin was that it was all that was left. Wouldn’t rush back.
  15. Totally agree. We’re now of the opinion that the specialty restaurants are so good that there’s no need to book a suite as Luminae wasn’t to our taste on both Edge and Silhouette. The saving on not booking a suite and eating in a venue of our choice makes the cruise experience much better and cheaper!
  16. The kids clubs are great. Children don’t need the rock climbing, water slides and cars. If they’re of normal intelligence, they’ll make friends, have great experiences with the people who run the clubs and really enjoy themselves. Quality time with a parent, relative, friend or indeed a kids club staff member more than makes up for a water slide or racetrack.
  17. Totally agree with the above and if you’re not happy then go elsewhere. I can’t stand people who complain and they’re usually in a queue in front of me taking up time complaining! We tried a Queens Grill, short Cunard cruise last year to try it out. Needless to say we missed Celebrity and couldn’t wait to get back.
  18. We’ve been on many ‘X’ cruises in all classes before, during and after covid and have enjoyed every one. Our least enjoyable one was a 4 nighter and it was the other guests who we couldn’t stand! Rude, booze cruise types. The reason so many people complain here is that the older they become, the more picky and miserable they become!
  19. How lovely that people want to eat dinner at that time. It should be actively encouraged to allow the rest of us to get dressed, have a drink or three and eat at a sensible time of 1930 till 2000 and leave us to enjoy ourselves without queues and have a long, leisurely dinner.
  20. We’d go into Blu at the drop of a hat, needless to say it’s well worth cruising Aqua class just for the restaurant. The fitness things in the cabin, spa access, blah, blah, blah are secondary IMHO. We got our requested table every night and could eat whatever we wanted and if we didn’t like the menu we could have anything else. Seriously, it’s on a par with any specialty restaurant and better than the menu in Luminae which we found challenging at times.
  21. I’m normally one who disagrees with the frequent travellers expecting more than the rest who have paid the same but this time I agree with the OP. What’s wrong with giving you a cheeky little upgrade on a half empty ship? Absolutely nothing. Many years ago it happened but nowadays people are too scared in the corporate ‘all seeing’ world to do anything on their own initiative.
  22. Agreed. Cruises from Southampton are more dressy. Not for me to criticise but some of our friends from across the pond (the minority because the majority are lovely) feel that it’s their right to do whatever they want and to hell with the rest of us. They also look ‘big’ in front of staff who are scared to challenge for fear of losing their jobs. As others have said there’s lots of posts on this.
  23. Thank you. We prefer to be midships or at the front and don’t intend paying for a suite for the privilege of a side balcony. We prefer to sail from the UK as we’re not far from the South coast. Did the Edge class last year (in a suite) but prefer the traditional layout cruise ship and because Celebrity is taking our beloved Silhouette away we’re looking for other options. Cruising up to 4 times a year will not be pleasant stuck at the back! P&O is not our cup of tea, nor MSC and we stumbled upon NCL hence the original question. Thanks to the other posters. Makes interesting reading.
  24. Hello Norwegian Fans! We normally only cruise Celebrity got chatting to someone who only cruises Norwegian. We did a bit of YouTube and online stuff and are wondering if we’ve been missing something. Tried a short Cunard trip last year and we intend to return in 30 years when we’re the correct age. The premium drinks package on Celebrity is great but yours looks better! We’re getting a ‘new’ Celebrity ship based in the UK next year with infinite verandas (yuck) so we’re looking to move elsewhere and Norwegian looks good. Have any of you cruised with Celebrity and how would you compare it to Norwegian? Thanks a lot.
