  1. Prices on the cruise I'm talking about have increased over 200% on an S-class ship in 7 months with a great deal of availability in all categories still unbooked. That just doesn't make sense. I didn't do the math, but looked at all cabins available across the board and if I had to guess, I'd say more than 50% of the ship is unbooked.
  2. They have gone berserk. I just did a mock booking on a cruise we have booked to check cabin availability. I was looking for a particular cabin we like. Clicking on a cabin in our same category with all the same additions (AI, refundable deposit, etc.) the cruise priced out more than double the fare we booked back in January. There is still a very large inventory of all categories of cabins from inside to top suites showing as available.
  3. From looking at your avatar, yes, we are in Bucks County. Go Phillies and Birds! ..and go TO Murano lol!
  4. Absolposolutely! We're doing it 4x next cruise.😁
  5. Perhaps he did that because he was served lobster tails the size of a jumbo shrimp. I had one on my recently that was exactly 2 moderately sized forkfuls. If I had been charged $16.95 for it I would have been extremely unhappy. In fact, if that was served to me as the "complimentary" lobster tail I would have been equally unhappy!
  6. X pricing has gone up exponentially in the last year. Since we made our last booking in February the pricing for the identical cabin/amenities that we booked has increased over $1000 pp and there have been significant cutbacks and extra charges instituted. The cruise is still 7 months out with the ship less than 1/2 sold. This is on an S-class ship in the Caribbean. It has given us reason shop around elsewhere when previously, when booking a cruise we went to X as our go to cruise line.
  7. They use an ice cream mix. I've gotten it at the pool and ordered it in the theater before a show.
  8. Frozen Toasted Almond Drink Recipe By Islands Staff January 13, 2011 SERVES 1 1 oz. amaretto liqueur 1/2 oz. Kahlúa coffee liqueur 1/2 oz. Baileys Original Irish Cream 1 oz. vanilla ice cream 1 scoop of ice 1. Mix all ingredients in a blender. Serve in a tall stemmed glass. I always ask them to swirl chocolate around the glass. It's yummy...and it's available on the Classic beverage package!
  9. In the past I've been unable to use a VPN on board but haven't tried it since the changeover to Starlink. Has that changed or is X still blocking their use? TIA
  10. No. I always upgrade and DH doesn't.
  11. I'm thinking that there was no need for repeat purchases, hence no longer available. Thankfully there are lots of similar items (albeit less durable) still around for those who need them.
  12. How unfortunate for us! It's clearly a brand that holds up over time!!!
  13. The magnetic hooks we use were purchased from Amazon in a set of 4, each rated to hold 50 lbs. They work well for the purposes I mentioned above
  14. We always bring a dual voltage USB multi port hub to charge our devices and an adapter for the European outlet. That way we can charge all of our devices using the European outlet and keep the other outlets free for other use. Also, we bring 4 strong magnetic hooks (holds up to 50lbs). We put 2 on the back shower wall with a piece of twine to make an easy to pack clothesline. The other 2 we hang on the cabin walls for purses, hats, papers etc. A full contingent of over the counter meds for all purposes is good to have on hand.
  15. You would get Captains Club points for the category cabin you currently have, but would get access to thermal suites, get a bottle of bubbly on request, access to Blu as your dining room and water replenished as well as pillow menu, thicker robes and slippers, a nice X tote bag, a seapass card holder and an expanded room service menu (unfortunately you'd still have to pay the $9.95+ fee for delivery of anything but continental breakfast).
  16. We get unused OBC-R handed back in cash on the last night to avoid that penalty.
  17. They definitely still do it in the Caribbean.
  18. Your cabin steward will leave beach towels in your room the evening before a port visit. If not just go up to the pool deck the day before you need them and take them. You don't need to sign them out.
  19. X tends to be a bit quieter and adult oriented than Royal. None of the X ships even come close to the larger Oasis class ships, the largest holding slightly more than 3000 passengers. The food tends to be better, but with recent post-Covid cutbacks the differences seem to be narrowing. Royal offers more varieties of activities for families travelling with children than does X. You will not find water slides, bumper cars, wave pools etc. on X. The shows, especially on Royal are more varied with venues like the aqua theaters etc. X has 2 or 3 cast production shows per cruise depending on the length of the cruise and the rest are visiting entertainers. X doesn't require passengers to make reservation for their shows which generally have 2 showtimes per night to accommodate both early and late diners. Select dining is what X calls its Anytime Dining, but the concept is the same.
  20. We rarely bid because we like to choose our cabins, but our last bid several cruises ago from prime verandah to Aqua was "Pending" until two days before the cruise and accepted. We didn't receive notice until the day before boarding after we'd already left home. We saw it appear on our cc before it appeared on the website or app and didn't receive an accepted email.
  21. If you've already used all you can and fully rewarded deserving crew members and it's OBCR they will refund it back to your credit card as stated above OR hand it back to you in cash the last night of the cruise. If it's not the refundable type and I'm sailing with you I'll be very happy to help you spend it. DH says I'm excellent at spending money!🤣
