  1. There are currently three questions and they are the ones you answer when you do online check in. They also confirm them at the pier. Are you vaxxed, are you boosted and are you more than 23 (or 24 can't remember) weeks pregnant. We have done 3 b2bs and one single cruise in the last year and they quit doing the 24 hour before questions a few months ago. We watch the lifejacket video and listen to the alarm before we get to the port. Very easy and very quick. We then can go by our muster station at any time.
  2. You'd think so but on Jewel a couple of weeks ago I added $1 tip and signed the receipt and the $1 never showed up on the account.
  3. You can get dollars in some foreign ATM's. OP, try RBC (Royal Bank of Canada). I also just googled "where can you get dollars in St. Maarten" and the first hit said Local currency and US Dollar ATM machines (Maestro/Cirrus) are situated throughout the island.
  4. They were putting up the framing for the tree when we were there on Jewel a couple of weeks ago. Not moving very fast lol.
  5. No. I have a knee injury that is still healing but I can walk the pier and have. It's not as long as some piers.
  6. We actually had Cheers with an Officer on our 6 night second leg of b2b on Jewel just over a week ago. LA told us the Hotel Director wanted to do it so they did. But, normally it's 7+ nights.
  7. My choices lol? I don't eat hotdogs and rarely eat hamburgers. I also never order the apple tart. My "choices" are only limited by the fact I'm allergic to shrimp (so I do not eat seafood since I don't particularly want to get sick). We shared a table with a couple we met the first night (4 of us assigned to an 8 top that no one else came to) and decided to share on our second leg of our b2b also. They also weren't impressed. They did say the seafood was pretty good. They cruise regularly, as in every few weeks and also said the food quality onboard was less than good. We ate in Giovanni's one night and it was good (love Osso Bucco and pasta). My/our experience doesn't have to be anyone else's, but as I said, we heard a lot of complaints about food quality including from the chef we met on board who works at a resort in FL. We have cruised on 3 b2b's and one single cruise in the last year and up until Jewel, the food has been pretty good. Not everything was bad, but most wasn't great on this last b2b. You were onboard in Europe, correct? You ever think the food quality from FL may not be the same as in Europe? You know, different suppliers and all.
  8. MDR food should be lower level? Seriously? So, you think because a ship is bigger and newer the MDR food should be better? Come on. That's ridiculous. And, a lot elitist. As far as the tart goes, you missed the point entirely. Many people were disappointed in the food and that includes people who cruise on all different sizes of ships. This was by far the worst meals we have ever had on Royal, from Vision class through Oasis class.
  9. That would be port fees and taxes. Your cruise fare, while including ports doesn't cost "per port" but it does cost "per cruise night". They are providing the service by providing the cruise. How exactly do you price out a port?
  10. We just got off Jewel 9 days ago from a b2b. The beef isn't great, especially the strip steak but other items weren't great either. My DH was very disappointed the first night he ordered the Apple Blossom Tart. It's now basically apple pie with none of the taste of the tart. Mozz sticks were sometimes mozz, sometimes an unidentified cheese. As Jewel had just come from Europe, they had English Sausages that they called hot dogs and the hamburgers were very thin. The only thing I heard people praise the entire 13 days was the seafood. Quality has gone way down, even since our July cruise on EN. I've seen some of the same complaints about other ships so it's definitely a supplier issue which they need to fix. So, I must have missed it, but what time is Wonder due to leave today?

  12. Do you want them to not take care of someone medically? Seriously? If it was you or your family member that was sick/injured, you wouldn't care about the lost day or a port, but since it's someone you don't know... BTW, there is lots to do in the Orlando/PC area. We just spent 5 days precruise in PC and went on a boat ride, hung out by the pool, tried new restaurants, etc. There's the KSC, Brevard Zoo, other tours. You're only sitting cooped up in a hotel because you choose to.
  13. We got one on the first leg of our b2b on Jewel on Nov 6. We also got two masks which are still unused.
  14. We put nothing on our door, but we have had kids moving other items that ended up on our door temporarily. And, people have had things stolen.
  15. We've also been on 35+ cruises. We've had one cruise where a medical emergency impacted the ships return (and our boarding) and it was a crew member with appendicitis.
  16. It's not cruise line policy. It's up to each Captain. We were on Jewel Nov 6-19 and at the Captain's Corner on the first leg, the Captain had reported aboard with us on 6 Nov and he said he hated not changing the clocks as we were in DR, PR and St. Maarten which were all 1 hour ahead of ship time. Previous Captain hadn't changed the policy before he got off and he hadn't had time to make adjustments, but it was his decision.
  17. Someone posted that the new menus are rolling out to the fleet on 1 Jan. We'll see if that's true, but they need to fix quality of ingredients first. Menus aren't the issue.
  18. Or "If the police arrested them, they must be guilty". My in-laws started using their age and health in their 60's. They were healthy enough and MIL lived to be 89 and FIL to 87. My DH has served on a couple of jurys. On a second degree murder/DUI (vehicular) he was the foreman and on a motorcyle reckless driving one (guy was going over 100 mph in a 65 mph zone on a toll road) and trying to evade police. Both were found guilty.
  19. Ours is through alarm.com (who our security co uses) and I was able to pull ours up most of the time. Sometimes there wasn't enough bandwidth, but I get email alerts so I could at least look at screenshots of anything they picked up. They are motion activated but I can watch live also. We just got off Jewel last Saturday and we were in FL for 5 days prior to our b2b so I was glad I was able to see it most of the time on surf only (D+ free days).
  20. Inconsistency from ship to ship and day to day is the theme of this thread.
  21. And, getting pastry was a major issue. It's like we were bothering them when we asked for them. One morning they'd be walking around with a platter and the next you'd had to ask and they'd want to know exactly what you wanted and only bring that over. But, the majority of the time, we'd have to ask for it. Funny, for us, we have to tell them repeatedly, no more coffee. DH puts sugar in his and doesn't want it diluted, plus, wow coffee on Jewel was soooo strong everyday.
  22. Normally that's why in our county (and most I thought) you call the night before and there is a recording stating which jury groups are required to report. Sometimes it's none, sometimes it's all and sometimes it's some. DH and I both have called in several times only to be told our number didn't need to report in.
  23. I never make it either. My BIL was a SS agent and my DH and I both work for the Intel community where we are subject to BI's and polys so we dont' suffer criminal behavior lightly.
  24. I was called for Fed Jury duty years ago when we had a WDW trip planned with our sons. We had airline tickets, reservations, etc. I just sent the request to postpone my duty with proof of trip (prob not needed but can't remember as it's been 20 yrs) and they came back and said I didn't have to report I could be called at a later date. It was a one day a week report for like 4 weeks if I remember correctly. It's never happened again. I'm glad. I wasn't looking forward to commuting to Alexandria, VA. Now that we have metro a couple of miles from our house it would be easier as the court is right near the metro station.
  25. Ours are in our passport holders but just because they are, not because we need them anymore. We just got off a b2b on Jewel on Saturday and there was no need for it either for RCI or the ports we visited (DR, PR, StM, Nassau, Cozumel, Costa Maya). They just asked the three questions at the pier (vaxxed? boosted? more than 24 weeks pregnant?). That's it.
