  1. Hi Thanks for the info. But I wasn’t talking about hotels but seeing that part of Iceland that to me is most interesting. I found the Golden Circle tour very interesting,,,the sights from Akureyri to me were a pale imitation. As you said Thingvellir National Park is the most important and interesting part of Iceland, not being able to see it would be like visiting NY and not being able to see the Satue of Liberty. I should imagine being on a ship during Culture Day would add to the enjoyment of the place. ps As for tours……the buses were free and running all day in Reykjavik. The last time I did the Golden Circle the minibus never touched the city centre. To miss seeing this, the scene of the worlds first parliament and the example of the tectonic plate and the story told about it is to miss what Iceland is about. Thingvellir National Park. One leg in each continent…
  2. Agreed,,,,,,but I can’t understand how Celebrity would run such a unique cruise with Iceland as the high point for most people then only have one day in Reykjavik. A turnaround day at that were nobody could experience what sights Iceland is famous for. Any cruise that includes Iceland should include Two days in Reykjavik. My last visit on Reflection in May 2019 did.
  3. Hi Jim I notice you arrive in Reykjavik tomorrow and set sail again at 16:00. Has there been any chance at the two previous calls in Iceland this week to do the Great Circle Tour.? It seems a pity to do Iceland and not see the x3 highlights of this scenic country. The Gulfloss Waterfall,Geysers at Geysir and the effect of the tectonic plate at in the Thingvellir National Park. Europe on one side North America on the other.
  4. Hi I was on Borealis in June,,,apart from the dance floor in the Observatory for late night dancing there is also a dance floor in Ocean Bar. This is where a live dance band plays for ballroom type dancing. There was also 4 dance hosts on my cruise.
  5. The parking for my cruise wasn’t available on line,I rang and booked it. Yes it’s out by Everton’s new stadium build,,just across from the Titanic Hotel. Press release found from July. 13 July 2022 Cruise and Passenger Services (CPS) has expanded its cruise parking operations in Liverpool with the acquisition of a new secure compound for passenger vehicles. The site adjacent to Liverpool Cruise Terminal (LCT) can accommodate over 100 cars and will enhance the service provided by LCT for passengers boarding cruise ships in the port. CPS, which previously offered only a bookings service for cruise passenger parking, will now marshal and store vehicles for passengers, transporting them to LCT once they have self-parked. Passengers will also be ferried to pick up their vehicles once they have disembarked. The improved service will initially be used by passengers from Fred Olsen Line, which is operating its vessel Borealis from LCT throughout 2022. CPS Cruise Operations Manager Louis Colpitts explained: “The acquisition of the new secure compound will strengthen further CPS’ position as the leading cruise passenger parking provider for cruise operators sailing from UK ports. It will also enhance the facilities and offering provided by LCT as the port continues to develop its cruise business.”
  6. Hi. I have just booked parking for my FO cruise on the 29th August from Liverpool with CPS parking. We cruised FO from Liverpool in June when we parked at Kings Dock car park before going to the ACC for COVID testing. It seems now CPS has left Kings Dock and relocated to a secure car park 1.5 miles from the terminal in L5…still with shuttle bus. Has anyone had recent experience of this move?
  7. Hi Keep your eye open for this, one of many memorials to the numerous wars fought over the canal. Also watch when you sail past the by-pass,ships parked in the by-pass to let north bound ships through look like they are sailing in the desert. A ship in the by-pass.
  8. Hi A shout out to Celebrity. I rang the CC number here in the UK (0344 493 2033) first thing today and it was answered on the first ring. Helpful girl worked out every point I should have earned going back to all cruises and PuPs,,,she found my account 12 points short,,,she couldn’t understand the x2 different point totals. Alls well that ends well as they say,she manually adjusted my points and I am now Elite.
  9. Any ideas? Just got the latest PuP e Mail. In the heading it’s got CC# and points to date=291 points. But my CC account has been on 296 points now since early May. I have e mailed Celebrity centre several times to get an answer,,,the account showing 291 has been going up every PuP for months now,,if the CC account had followed I would be well over the number for Elite. Celebrity never give an answer to this question,,once saying it’s ‘something’ to do with my wife’s account.
  10. Hi PT Coming from Australia I thought you might have thrown a Googlie down the wicket on the Main Square. They love their cricket in Corfu.
  11. I can’t understand why Guinness is on the Premium package but not on Classic when on the price list it is $8? Mind you it never mattered on the first two sailings on Silhouette out of Southampton this year. They had no stock of Guinness or Boddingtons bitter. Dont know if that changed on later cruises.
  12. Hi Out of interest on your sail to Istanbul did you manage to pass Gallipoli in daylight? Most cruise ships don’t manage it but on one sailing the Captain managed to sail past just before dusk,,,,sailing close enough to take photos of the WW1 monuments. Btw,,on the April Silhouette sailing from Southampton a temp table bar was set up at the back of the theatre. Enjoying your blog of a great itinerary.
  13. Hi Was in Belfast a couple of weeks ago on FO,the shuttle bus was £10 and dropped you off in the city centre outside the Tourist Office. There we’re HoHo buses on the quay,,,,,book on this and get off at Titanic museum. Before COVID we did a great Belfast tour in a Black Cab,,,the drivers commentary was hilarious and irreverent taking you to places you wouldn’t go on your own. It is about £40 per cab for a 2.5 hr tour of the Troubles murals and all. Google Black Cab tours. They pick you up on the quay and drop you off wherever you want.
  14. Hi den No need to Bury them, you could cremate them and put them on the plate alongside American bacon,or what we in the UK call ‘port scratchings’.
  15. Hi The coffee sachets are behind the tea bags,,,,Nescafé original and decaf. Sometimes maybe Kenco. As I drink Lactose free milk and my wife drinks Soya we get a glass of each from the Oceanview and keep it in the frig. ps I believe Celebrity put kettles in cabins on sailings from the UK because Brits love their morning cuppa tea, To be honest this Brit hates tea.
  16. Hi There was on Silhouette out of Southampton in April. Photographic evidence……
  17. Every cabin on Silhouette from Southampton has a kettle and tea and coffee in it. Apart from Oceanview and Cafe el Bacio there is also the secret coffee station on Silhoutte midship, handy for those on the deck 6/7/8 hump.
  18. Hi Darren You wouldn’t have drank a lot of Guinness on my April Silhouette cruise……they had none!!!
