  1. Many times. My neighbor across the street in Texas (who gave me the recipe) made it exclusively and that is how I found the recipe.
  2. Google "foolproof pie crust with vodka by Christopher Kimball" The vodka is the secret that makes it turn out every time.
  3. We are still having fun going places with no hoops to jump through. While I am vaccinated plus a booster (waiting for the bivalent version before the 2nd), I don't think it is necessary to have to prove it. I have yet to feel the need to take a test and haven't worn a mask in well over a year. It probably helps that we can go to a beach anytime we want. We are within a short drive of a casino too.
  4. I will get excited when the protocols are the same as other land vacations. No mention of masks at any time during the trip, no vaccination proof needed, no tests needed. Until then I will wait to book a cruise.
  5. That is frustrating and icky, plus not good for the bears. They need to install bear proof trash cans. Can you complain to AirBnB? They may have influence with the homeowners because they can delist them with enough complaints. I know the house we are renting in NC for the fiber fest specifically states to keep the trash in the garage until the morning of trash pickup.
  6. We like Maya Chan in Costa Maya. In Cozumel we like Nachi Cocom. For Roatan we have been a couple of places for snorkeling but I don't remember the names.
  7. I tend toward hotel/resort stays for pre or post cruises. However, for a group of women going to a fiber fest I am very happy to find a house we can rent. We take turns cooking dinner, spend a lot of time sitting on porches, knitting and talking. This just wouldn't happen in a hotel. When we go to St. John I prefer a condo since we can eat breakfast in our pjs., make picnic lunches and then walk to town for dinner.
  8. I really enjoy the pictures of your walks. The birds and scenery are very different from where I live and so much fun to see.
  9. You go ahead. Me I will be bringing plastic straws when we cruise again.
  10. Until the issue of the big plastic polluting countries is solved removing straws from ships is just window dressing.
  11. Too much considering you can just get a picture of a negative test online. They don't need the actual test (although that is accepted).
  12. Yes. It all adds up and I don't like to pay for things I have no need for or any interest in. People should pay for their own dang tests. We have yet to take a single test and choose to vacation places that don't require them.
  13. Probably 2-3 days short. I am thinking about trying to work in a little get away for my husband and I since I have a line on a house sitter. At the end of Sept. my son and I are going to Universal and at the end of Oct. my friends and I are going to a fiber fest. My husband has some tractor shows coming up too so I wanted to work in something short for just us.
  14. Ok community mind: If one were to go to Amelia Island for a short vacation where would one stay and what would one do. Thank you in advance.
