  1. Lol! My DH likes the pocket one that attaches to his belt. Can’t be seen unlike the strings on the neck one. He uses one like this.
  2. Good day and thanks all! @Quartzsite Cruiser glad to hear your DH is going home, it’s always easier to recover at home. Wishing him a speedy and good recovery! @HAL Sailer I am so sorry to hear your news! Hoping your DH can recover well! @smitty34877 oh no on the flooding! It’s ok to say some naughty things, we have to get out those emotions too! @marshhawk wise words on caretaking! For sure it affects both partners, and sometimes it’s harder to watch. @rafinmd Bon voyage! @ger_77for give me, you made me giggle with your description, I’m really glad you’re ok! We spent ten days in Anchorage, a lovely place with amazing food!
  3. This is exciting news for me. Our very first cruise to Alaska they loaded on the fresh halibut and salmon and had a barbecue on board. Aw the good old days🤷‍♀️ I will look forward to trying the Morimoto dishes, but I will eat my lobster with just butter and lemon! Speaking of mussels, we have had some of the best in Bruges and France but the absolute best we’re in Newfoundland! Cheap fresh and delicious! And we’ve enjoyed them in Italy
  4. always best to check directly with the Japanese embassy, then you will have no worries.
  5. Good morning and thanks all! We visited Norway on a BHB years ago with our DS, the crew loved him as he was their age and he thoroughly enjoyed this cruise. We remember Bergen well for the views and shopping as DS had forgotten to bring a rain jacket, even coming from Vancouver. Prices in Norway were quadruple for the same exact jacket I had bout at home. @Quartzsite Cruiser keeping you and your DH in my thoughts today, praying all goes well! @rafinmd safe travels and Bon voyage tomorrow!
  6. @Quartzsite Cruiser praying all goes well tomorrow and you both get some rest tonight! @Ichiban Nekko it looks so lovely! Enjoy Quebec City and your cruise!
  7. Good morning and thanks al! @Cruising-along happy anniversary Carolyn and Henry! Fabulous photo! @RMLincoln again such wise words about grief! Please ladies don’t put off your screening mammograms, the one time I was too busy….. early detection is so important! @smitty34877 sending gentle hugs, such a tough time, glad you had your friends support. @kochleffelagree with your rationale of separation of shots. wishing you all blue skies…
  8. There is a beautiful temple with a cable car that you can easily take a taxi to. You will have great views and see some tea growing as well.
  9. @kazu oh Jacqui! I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear friend’s husband! Sending hugs! @Cruising-along I’m with you on spacing them out. That works best for me order sounds good to me too.
  10. Where are you embarking and disembarking? If it’s Japan, best to check. See the embassy info above. Or you can hope customs will understand that you took the advice of a stranger on this forum🤷‍♀️ Also note custom agents come onboard when arriving from a foreign port, so…..
  11. Agree with you Carolyn! Or another issue, they only want so and sos opinion, lol! My understanding is that RSV is problematic for seniors so the vaccine will be a good idea. Makes three for me too. My preference is to spread them out, my poor arm! Looks like Moderna in Canada, I’ve only had Pfizer. Would have liked novavax. I’ll do Covid mid October, high dose flu late October and RSV before or after as available.
  12. Yes make sure you do! Wonderful seared tuna done over hay in the market in Kochi, Great ramen in Shirakawa go, and squid in Hirosaki. It’s so worth spending at least another week in Japan, we spent two! Here’s the crab we chose in Hakkodate
  13. Sad news, as a young girl I loved him as Ilya in Man from UNCLE
  14. I was referring to North Americans but there was a typo, it should have read: Just like North Americans need an international driving permit. Realize EU members don’t need this. We have been twice and were very glad to have the correct documents. It was a bit intimidating. They totally ignored our drivers license and wanted only to see the International Driving Permit.
  15. I too have heard that this is much more common recently, Particularly in train stations. Just like North Americans you need an international driving permit. So many want to Pooh Pooh these things but trust me when you’re stopped randomly you’re very glad to have what is needed. It’s the law in Italy, we need to respect or risk the fines. We just carry our passports in a money belt under our clothes and never have to worry about it. It would be next to impossible to pickpocket it. I agree that slashproof bags can be stolen. Front pockets breached, etc etc.
  16. I’m thinking that some times those make the best photos!
  17. Good morning and thanks all! Welcome home @RMLincoln sounds like a good cruise! Welcome home @Cruising-along, glad you enjoyed yourself! My DH lost his aunt at 21 to ovarian, mine survived into her 90s. Such a terrible and tricky cancer. @cruising sister sorry to hear more sad news. So hard on this poor family.
  18. Just contact the Japanese embassy for the permission online.
  19. Good day and thanks all! Debbie, yum on that dinner! @cat shepardcongrats on the new car, let us know what you think, my next will be a hybrid as well! @smitty34877 sending hugs, dogs just know! @luvteaching great advice! I thought it was so special that you honoured the Canadian roots in your family with Nanaimo bars! It sounded like a perfect celebration. @kazu hoping your dear pup feels better soon! @Vict0rianncongrats on the cruise! @ger_77glad your DH is feeling better, agree about the Bobbsey twins, lol! @marshhawkthey book quickly, just take a taxi from the official line as it is a set rate. We thoroughly enjoyed Sakaiminato and area. World class gardens and sculptures and a Black castle with canal boat rides!
  20. How fabulous! Enjoy! Thanks for sharing, although my numbers are sadly different
  21. Good day and thanks all! I’m glad to hear some good news for Maurice, Graham, Sam and @Lady HudsonDh! @HAL Sailer happy birthday to your DH, I always appreciate your kind supportive words, We haven’t been able to sail recently either. @smitty34877 keeping you in my thoughts and prayers in these tough days! Hugs! We had some luck yesterday seeing a beautiful bull elk and his harem
  22. I love my pirate name, Dirty Lobster Legs, arghh! Aka Dirty John Holystone😂🤷‍♀️ @AroundWithMAPTravelswelcome, we’re very nice and sometimes a little naughty.
  23. Money belts under your clothes work! We’ve seen many discarded bags, many who lost passports and even a loss of 22 k gold necklace when nice young women helped clean bird droppings. Scams change so beware, our hotel in Barcelona had a list of current ones.
  24. I could talk about tea forever, lol!
