  1. We have sailed both quite a lot. You enroll in Celebrity Captain's Club and your D+ on RCCL will get you Elite (not E+) on Celebrity. But you need to call them to do this. The Celebrity ships have no equivalent to the RCCL Diamond Lounge. They instead have drinks available to you at any bar on the ship at the designated Happy Hour times. Limited drink menu. Internet- two types. Elite get a certain number of minutes or you can buy a package. If you do the Celebrity "Always Included" package you get a number of things included like basic unlimited WiFi. Look it up to see what is included for your package. Usually a drink package too. A Jr Suite on RCCL is the entry level suite but you pretty much get nothing with it. On Celebrity the Sky Suite is the entry level suite and it has access to The Retreat, Luminae (suite restaurant) and usually OBC, Premium Bev package, Wifi, and paid gratuities, and a butler. Both the Jr Suite and the Sky Suite are typically 1.5 cabins in size. The Concierge Class on Celebrity is not a suite but a regular veranda cabin on S-Class. Not much extra.
  2. Jim thanks for the tip. I will call Celebrity and get them to run a report.
  3. If you are in a RS or PH just tip in Specialty Dining what you want. Same applies to Luminae. Not too complicated.
  4. There are few options for smoking. There are two designated smoking areas. One on Deck 4 (port side) and one on Deck 11 near the Mast Bar. Specialty dining is also limited. We would probably chose the Tuscan Grille.
  5. So sorry to hear this. But better before hand than having to isolate on the ship. Do they even have sailings with open cabins left for you at the end of June or July? Did you call Celebrity and discuss?
  6. Be careful discussing death rates. Overall since 2020 is one figure but not relevant now. But looking at just 2022 with Omicron-only vs. Influenza is quite different. And of course hard to tease out the data on people with Covid vaccines, number of boosters, and also people with Influenza vaccines (or not). And underlying medical conditions. But agree we can all be careful, courteous and cautious, and live with the virus going forward. No other choice!
  7. Good list but maybe you missed the most likely and obvious one. The CDC and WHO and other national and local health authorities finally understand that the virus is here to stay forever and will occasionally surge here and there. And that will be nothing unusual. We all just live with that by keeping our vaccines Up To Date. They monitor variants.
  8. Well let's see. Walkie-Talkies were invented and used in WWII. Maybe some folks have upgraded to mobile smart phones by now. And Tang was popular on the early Mercury flights. But I have never seen it in the Oceanview Cafe. Kidding aside, years ago before wireless networks on ships, it was kind of funny watching parents trying to find their kids by cheap hand-held two-way radios. While they were wearing their Walkman's and fumbling with their cassette tapes.
  9. Is this for the MDR? or Specialty Restaurant? In either case you can go to any dining station just outside the MDR on boarding the ship and discuss with them. If a Specialty go there too on boarding and discuss.
  10. This is not the fault of the elevator.
  11. A note about the elevators on most Celebrity ships. They are modern and very quiet. They arrive and a colored light with an up or down arrow announces it is there. You will have a bit of noise from doors opening or closing but not enough to be heard in the adjacent cabins - insulated by the elevator lobby walls. We have stayed near elevators and my DW is very sensitive to noise and light. She has never complained about the elevators. Hopefully this will be a good choice for you. A lot of folks prefer cabins not far from the elevator for mobility reasons.
  12. No problem lots going on everywhere at that time on every ship. Casino too.
  13. Which ship? And what is late night to you? After midnight? On E-Class there is a lot more to do. A bit less on S-Class but you might find some people and activities. On M-Class you might be wandering with the crickets chirping.
  14. Just bring your proof. Why stress or have a nightmare over a beverage package upgrade?
  15. You must be a new member and welcome! But you are being far too logical for Cruise Critic.πŸ˜€
  16. Yes this is the absolute truth. In the USA inflation is at a 40+ year high.
  17. This is actually more common than what you might think at first.
  18. Yes it is on a high deck across the front of the ship and has all of the navigation equipment and electronics, and it has a lot of forward and side facing windows. Quite a view! Lots of supporting staff in dress uniforms. You need a special invitation to visit. But kind of a strange Lounge since no alcoholic beverages are allowed.
  19. Yes we plan to do our own small, private tours for the reason you mentioned. Just a smart thing to do these days- avoiding full tour buses.
  20. HaHa. Black market Advil and Tylenol.πŸ˜ƒ
  21. There is another recent thread on this - maybe it will be helpful to you.
  22. So very sorry to hear about Don's passing. My deepest condolences to you and your family and friends. I will miss his posts and information he provided. And his sound views.
