    soundbars have a good WAF

+1  When I looked at the soundbar on the website I thought to myself, that looks pretty sleek.

Apparently my husband must be missing the audio gene.  He has never expressed any interest in a sound system.  Then again, our homes have been pretty small, our family room isn't much bigger than our walk in closet.  He knows its limitations I guess.

I never knew you could donate old paint.    We have a bunch of old paint cans in our basement.   I will have to see if our local habitat for humanity store will accept them.

Here is RI we can bring paint into our local SW store for recycling.  As a painting contractor, we pay a fee for every gallon/5 gallon pail to support the program.  The state also runs a program where they accept hazardous waste different times a year. Maybe this is another option?

We're using Sonos soundbars for TV and music listening.

Forgive the ignorance but how does this work?  You have the soundbar and speakers but where does the music come from?  I'm guessing it is a subscription but to what company?  Maybe if I had Alexa I would at least have a clue.

I was thinking about getting one of those digital items that display photos along with time and such but I can't remember the name of it to even research it now.

Curious, what made them choose RI to move to?

We were from RI but my Dad was being transferred to Camp Pendleton CA by the Army.

Funny, just last week I just asked my uncle why they moved.  He shrugged his shoulders and said "you got me".   His aunt and uncle were already out there.  I believe my father worked in one of the auto factories.  The earthquake combined with homesickness put an end to that adventure.

We always had a station wagon when the kids were young -  big old Pontiacs and Buicks. The kids (2 boys) always wanted to be in the cargo area and stick their feet out of the roll down window..........many sneakers and shoes were lost (so now you know how one shoe is found on the road / highway)!!!!! When we moved from Upstate NY to Georgia - our youngest (1 yo) was in a fold up playpen in the cargo area..............all the way.

That reminds me of the station wagon my parent's friends used to own.  It had sitting in the back like a hot tub.  OK, no quite but it had seating that formed what amounted to a 3 sided pit where we all crammed our feet.  More good times riding in the back with the window down.

In 1959 my parents drove from RI to CA with 2 year old me sitting between them in the front seat, propped up on phone books so I could see out the windows to not get carsick 😬. No seat belts back then. Not excusing it but that’s just they way it was.

I think I was in a in a bassinet (could have been a cardboard box for all I know) when my parents made the trek back from my birthplace in San Jose, CA back to RI after the family's first earthquake experience.  No seat belts holding me in either.

Speaking of pick up trucks, we routinely rode in the back in the mid 70's.  We thought it was so much fun.  Up until about 5 years ago we could still get away with it on Block Island.

  7. If they don't have any leaves on the stalks by now I do cut them back, at least to where you can not see them.  And then in the fall when all the leaves are gone I rummage through the plant and hack the half branches back.  I hate the way they collect the leaf debris.

Old wood vs. new wood.  Old style Hydrangeas such as the "Nikko Blue" only bloom on old wood so I give them plenty of time to sprout.  The newer plants such as Everlasting Summer can bloom on old vs. new wood.  I was told you could cut them right down and they will bloom anyway. I don't, in fear they might retaliate and produce no flowers.

I have a couple of bushes that are temperament.  One that hasn't bloomed in years did so last year in a totally different color (used to be dark purple).  It must have know I was going to dig it up.  This year I'm not seeing any buds, what a surprise.  It knows how to play me.

As is typical along the seaside in "Downeast" Maine....yesterday was sunny and 72...today...57 with fog and drizzle.  Good time to go shopping!  Heading out for groceries, post office, hardware store, and of course....the "Lobstore" as they are called for fresh fish for dinner tonight..  😉

Welcome to New England!  At least you knew what you were getting into.  I remembered the cruises that got diverted from Bermuda to New England.  Pretty upset crowd.

BTW, that Butterfish was right up there with the starfish thread.  Not sure how I missed it.  Reminds me of the Alli weight loss product.  Eat any fat and risk the consequences.

If I understand correctly, you have a place to enter your password and your phone has automatically filled it in with your old password, probably in the form of a bunch of ******.  If that's the case, put your cursor in the password box and delete all of the *s so that your password box is now empty.  Then enter your new password.  Your phone will probably ask if you want to update your password.

You can also go into the phone settings and scroll down until you see password.  Should be right above mail and contacts.  This will show you all of the passwords that are saved on your phone.  Select cruisecritic.com and delete the password.  The next time you go to CC, your password should not be automatically entered.  When you manually enter your new password, your phone should ask if you want to save it.

Wow, I am so far behind but I know by the time I catch up I will have forgotten to thank you for this IT lesson.

  10. @cruise wizardI'm jealous.

We were booked for a 10 night on the Edge this fall.  Then they canceled that cruise so we rescheduled to a different sailing (same ship).  Then the word of no cruises over 7 days and they went and canceled the second one.  I wasn't interested in the 7 days so I'm on the 10 day reflection with "edge" pricing.  I'm not terribly excited about it.  What is annoying is that my sister switched to the Apex 10 night and hers did not get cancelled.  I wanted the Edge as it went to BVI.

Wish I could do that. I'm addicted to Diet Coke.  I used to drink 6/day but have cut back to 2/day. I don't drink coffee so I like to have a DC in the morning to get a little caffeine jump.

So you one of those people I see in the WJ filling up at 9AM?  My mother used to drink it all day long but she, too, cut back.

It was sometime in april we had something like 7 to 10 yards delivered.  Every spring we do this, then in fall I get a couple bags and lowes to spruce up front beds before winter.  I always sprinkle Preen for some areas before I lay mulch down.  Ugghh.  Back breaking but well worth it when all done.

I just noticed in the Lowe's flyer last week that they sell mulch with preen in it.  We are in the same boat as you, we got at least 7 yards.  I expect that to go up 2 more next year once we finish the side of the house where we put on the addition.  We break it up over a few weekends because I can only take so much of kneeling in the mulch spreading it around all the perennials.

  13. @BecciBoo  You might need to worry about the tourism department stealing your picture.  That is an incredible view!

My condolences on the loss of your brother.  My younger brother will be here next week. Although his trip was already planned for next week we didn't expect my dad to be gone by the time he came back.   We plan to scatter some of my father's ashes once he gets here.  My dad, too, used to enjoy fishing too.  We like to think he is doing that or working in the woodshop up there.
