  1. Hey that would have been a great study to a part of while cruising.... In health and bon voyage
  2. Ask on the other forums here on CC.... bon voyage
  3. ... of an unforeseen quarantine!!! LOL In health and bon voyage
  4. To tip the nurse for getting you in and out quick and fast... LOL In health and bon voyage
  5. LOL, the traveling pharmacy will be aboard!!! In health and bon voyage
  6. It is my understanding that flying overseas is, more often than not, a desire and not a requirement. We are not asked to stay away from flying vs told that there are requirements to re-enter The U.S., the drama comes into play when We believe that We should not be stopped from doing what We want to do when We want to do it. How odd??? If one were to believe it is too much drama, then we need to re-consider traveling abroad until such time policy makers determine things can be loosened up. Solved or not??? In health and bon voyage
  7. Just staying in the cabin will cause the room attendant to report something amiss.... possibly, and you would get a visit... In health and bon voyage
  8. Maybe to cover some additional costs, as well, since being locked down??? I wonder how much the increase will affect future bookings??? I suspect not much... Any company's marketing will always evolve and change pending on what works and reflects what they want to get across AND what the public responds to accordingly. Just a thought. bon voyage
  9. hmr - I believe one (1) major item which many of us are not taking into consideration, C-19 like most other viruses mutate and change constantly... Many of us think of C-19 as a single variation and that is dangerous thinking IMO, just because we have updated vaccinations, they are for the current 'known' variations. As such the need for updated shots and the like... similar to the pneumonia and influenza vaccinations which are updated every year along with many others which are not so common or thought about. We were to travel over the next week or so with 14 others on an X sailing, everyone else cancelled due to C-19 and I supported their decisions because of serious health conditions they have now. Very smart decision(s) IMO I think, in the long run, you have made a great decision to cancel your sailings because of the potential downside. I laud you for taking into consideration what the downside(s) are and making decisions based on those factors. You have read, researched, listened, understood and made decisions accordingly and choose not to wait until aboard to say 'What the heck did I get myself into? This is not what I wanted to sign up for.' If we contract C-19 on the upcoming sailing, I can guarantee you that I will 'possibly' sailing alone in 2024...LOL I will continue to monitor and watch the situation and make a decision by July of 2023 if we sail again. There is a group of 18 who want to take a Med sailing with a few extended tours before and after the sailing, but I can categorically say if this health situation is not greatly improved by then, we will not risk it. 10. OR we can stop clamoring to pay and board... bon voyage
  11. How can anyone dispute your sage input, yet IMO we have to figure out beforehand, as far in advance as possible 'what is the worst case scenario if I contract C-19"... Isolation, dis-embarked at the next port (which happened early on in the season), etc... I fully understand and accept that the poster has a great deal of stress in this situation, as many others might have and a few who have posted do/did not. There are posters who have cancelled their UK, European and Med sailings due to not wanting to get caught up in the policies and protocols of what C-19 brings along with it and a few who have underlying conditions which would stress them out beyond belief to control in such a situation. As I understand it (not sure) did not the poster choose to stay aboard vs getting off the ship in Italy to try and get home sooner? Be that as it may, their choice to do what they believe is best and I for one will not presume to tell them what is best for them only for me, based on the information provided or would I??? I only wish her G-D speed recovery and even speedier return home so the nightmare will end! In health and bon voyage
  12. In one sense you are absolutely correct... One must be emotionally ready in case they are quarantined otherwise, what is the reason to be upset and in angst if you are not? Knowing what we know about the policies, except those who did not have time to check them out beforehand and then??? They, X, will only pile in as many passengers who are willing to make a reservation and pay good money to cruise, regardless of C-19, their health and how the variant spreads. Of course the protocols are constantly changing, another reason to deeply consider if cruising is the right vacation for any person due to this shifting landscape over which X does not have a lot of control over when it comes to individual country requirements. 13. I Am off to Costco today... will look for it... Cheers and bon voyage
  14. mw - it sounds like you are dismissing the potential fact that some passengers get mentally and emotionally ready for quarantine, if they test + for C-19 vs those who go thinking that nothing will happen and they are safe? I think most of the posters who post positively about being quarantined accepted the fact and reasons for it under X's policy and procedures as they are being applied currently. Are they fair across the board? As I Am reading, quite possibly not. Once aboard you are aboard and there is very little you can do to change them in the moment, so make the best of it until you get off the ship and make your way home where you will be happier in your own environment. The current protocols are the protocols, we need to know what they are before boarding and if not satisfactory disembark immediately if you did not know them in advance. In health and bon voyage
  15. Technically, you are correct... Specifically, bananavan has lots to say about her experience and encounters and upsets, which would be best read in full and unadulterated at their thread instead of doing a 'readers digest' version elsewhere in the forum... IMO In case someone did not know that that thread was available before reading this one, they will know and can follow the link through. A very good service for bananavan. In health and bon voyage
  16. Thanks I will look for this... because I find that I Am often 'over served' aboard!!! LOL Cheers and bon voyage
  17. I Am not understanding what this one is? I Am sure I will once you write it... LOL In health and bon voyage
  18. Yeppers, that is the website that pops up when I made my bids... bon voyage
  19. Well, while I cannot and will not dispute your take on the varied posts about conditions before, during and after contracting C-19 aboard any ship... OR for not doing ANY research, how minimal. I can, categorically, say that since the Diamond Princess incident/debacle and cruises shut down for around two (2) years and having 'somewhat' of a tangent knowledge of various government policies surrounding international travel rather that be via air, boat, train etc... if that does not prompt individuals to ask a few basic 'what if' questions, then there is a real issue with understanding about what is going on. Since I do not sail Viking, what they do is of no interest to me, at the moment. Their ships and policies and demographics are different than X's, truly not comparing apples to apples... in terms on policy and treatment of persons who contract C-19. That points out to me that some posters needed to examine how other cruise lines treat and approach passengers who 'may' contract C-19 aboard their ships need to go sail them and not wish for something different on other lines, until they are adapted by other lines. Again, why spend so much money and wanting a great trouble free vacation in these times and do nothing to be prepared just in case? I sail soon and were I to contract C-19 while in the midst of the sailing, I promise you that I will not be posting about what X did or did not do to protect or support me, except if they abandoned me in the middle of the ocean or I had to jump overboard because I could not take any more (which I doubt)!!! LOL IMO it does not take a lot of smarts/research/time to ask/investigate on the following: 1) Yes I want to go on a cruise as it has been way too long, but is it worth it? 2) I have underlying conditions which means that there could be real complications were I to contract C-19, is it really in my best interest to risk it, now? 3) What are the protocols (how easy will it be) for me to get home were I to contract C-19 while away? Will it be easy to get home or??? What are the possible additional expenses? Yes, there are a few other questions to be asked, yet I believe these are the basic ones to really consider and takes almost no time to figure out even if not a member of CC... Just my thoughts on this and respect other thoughts no matter how far afield I believe they are.... In health and bon voyage
  20. I have really enjoyed your approach and perspective on your take. I would dare to suggest that were the situation similar to a few others you still would be looking forward and making the best of it and working towards getting better and heading home. Each of us have our 'personal' viewpoint on what the cruise line vs cruise medical team vs dining options vs all of the rest of it, needs to be done and etc. Thank you for your outlook and posting on this and the fact that you understand and have a good grip on what is what and keeping your head up and spirits up until you can get home... In health and bon voyage
  21. Hello all - I woke up this morning thinking about this and what each of us may or may not pack for our sailings... I, personally, never pack any non-prescriptions, with the exception of a first-aid kit. Given the current 'health situation' I was wondering what others may pack 'just in case' or that they understand will help alleviate any discomfort encountered from many situations or potential situations.... so we do not have to go to Sick Bay or on-board store or port store to get common items. TIA, In Health and bon voyage
  22. Regardless of where the crew happens to be or not, now may be the time to cancel or you might be standing in that line like others you note... for no reason at all, except for the apology! bon voyage
  23. I did not see it, but will go back and look again... Must be the vegan sugar I had this morning to start my day... LOL I trust you are feeling and will continue to get better and soon. In health and bon voyage
