  1. When did you book the sailing vs decided to upgrade, in the current environment? If there was a lag time between the two, then??? I waited also, I Am the blame for dragging my feet after thinking at least ten (10) times I need to just go ahead and upgrade and did not... Cheers and bon voyage
  2. sc - are they vegan or is that by special request or advance request??? LOL Sounds delicious either way.. an dòchas gun còrd e riut, bon appetit and bon voyage 😎
  3. Of course we want sympathy for our 'individual' situations in regards to this, otherwise what is the need to post about it here on CC, especially when we believe there is a legitimate beef to air vs just stating the experience being enjoyed at the moment??? Then, what is the reason we as 'potential' passengers are not held to higher standards in terms of being realistic? Do you not believe that we as travelers need not do a minimum amount of research before leaving home or even before plopping down that final payment for a cruise to know what is going on, rather we read or post to CC or not? Most of the posts by those caught up in the situation, for whatever reason and even if they did not know about C-19 running rampant on ships and planes and in various countries they will visit or not, will justify the reason for being upset and etc... not to say the admonishments are not justified to some degree but to dodge the responsibility because they had other things to take care of before sailing and etc... is not justification, IMO. I say, if ANYONE here on CC catches me retort similarly were I in this situation, please laugh at me and point me back to my previous postings. I do have empathy for those who are in this situation, yet often times it stops at the initial embarkation and/or how they handle the situation. We pay so much money to NOT know during these times, what may or may not happen in terms of C-19 (or other dis-eases) and all the previous history posted about what happens aboard and at off-loading the next port is information not to be taken lightly, especially if taking a TA or UK or European sailing. I, for one, cannot be so cavalier to dismiss the potential challenges and situations surrounding traveling at this time. And I do choose to travel, albeit with caution and I trust with enough to continue to be healthy and safe until I Am home for months from the sailings. In health and bon voyage
  4. Sorry that your vacation is being controlled by C-19 and know it is a great disappointment for you, as well, to have to be subject to policies of governments and X... I would trust that most of us would understand that policies and rules covering public transportation and the like will, can and do change at moments notice. If not, then we have to take what is dealt at the time. I think most of the 'brilliant' individuals really mean that this situation needed to be anticipated, if not exactly known. Since you are on CC, there have been opportunities to read about others on X's (and other ships) who are in a similar situation and etc... As for not having "no control over.", we have a great degree of control over the situation, it is rather we want to have and keep control or not. I just cancelled my move-up bids to suites based on the number of posts from those 'residents' contracting C-19 vs non-suiters (LOL), not that the later as any more knowledge than the former, I Am in the belief that there are more opportunities to social distance and keep safer, faulty posit I know, yet I Am sticking to it to remain safer as possible!!! We sail soon and We will do what we can to keep control over it and not believe that certain measures we take will 'ruin' our ability to enjoy the sailing. But be that as it may, you are not in an enviable position at the moment, regardless. In health and bon voyage
  5. I feel for them as well, even more so if they did not make contingency plans 'just in case'... cannot afford to be away for so long or cannot financially afford it or even possibly get sicker. It is our choice to travel in these times and it is our responsibility to know the potential downsides, just in case. Will we know and understand them all? NO. Yet a few of the major ones will help get us through the minor ones, or so I believe. I trust your sister and her friends recover enough to get back home ASAP and feel free enough to travel again soon. In health and bon voyage
  6. While, I Am sure this is true to a great degree, I do wonder what the numbers of disappearances are vs show ups vs hospitalizations and etc.??? These compared to 'pre-pandemc' numbers for similar AWOL's? Did the "certain restaurant staffer..." comment on this aspect of the situation as well? AWOL's are NOT limited to bad times, as most of us do know, right??? Overall, maybe, just maybe more U.S. Citizens need to apply to these jobs or will be a no-show due to other salient factors just like farmers have not had good luck getting U.S. Citizens to help with the harvest in recent years... too much of a good thing for various reasons now rearing its' ugly head, possibly, after decades? LOL bon voyage
  7. I think part of the challenge is that 'us' choose to be packed in by making the reservations and going understanding this could be an issue. Those of us who are being packed in and getting lower than expected service in other areas of travel may continue to book and travel in 'hopes' that things will get better and soon. Therein lies a conundrum for travel companies, what do we do if bookings go down while we try to ramp up workers and patrons do not return or what do we do if bookings continue to go up and we cannot get the requisite number of workers (trained or not, right away) to support the needs of our clients. Catch22 bon voyage
  8. Thank you and it is an interesting thread... overall. In health and bon voyage
  9. Perchance do you know if it was the cost or liver function test or both the reason for decline? This I can endorse for issuance aboard any ship... In health and bon voyage
  10. p - thank you for this, as many of us will not read other boards and as such believe the cited situation is only localized or specific to X.... I Am sure that a few of us do not know passengers on other lines, at this time in order to compare notes or readings... LOL I wish I could as most of my friends only sailed Crystal and we know about their current service status... Many of us can be ostriches around here, to be sure.... LOL bon voyage
  11. I figure you may have a short memory to know that the travel policies in your post are recently enacted as opposed to always being able to cross the US/Canadian border at will, without the aforementioned testing, if at all over the last few years. In health and bon voyage
  12. I think it is great to have the option, which we take advantage of by making reservations ahead of time and cancel 24 hours in advance and no less than four (4) hours when something comes up or we change our minds. Many land based restaurants we eat in here in the US have similar setups as X, either make a reservation or walk in, walk ins have lower priority for sure... and none if it is a popular establishment. bon appetit and bon voyage
  13. I recommend that you call and register your displeasure at the price increase, as others on other threads have said they would. I only wish that each time I go into the grocery store or gas station there was an advance notice of price increases... alas, not happening until I look at the price upon arrival. bon voyage
  14. tr - IMO just because the cited precautions were, eliminated or even reduced, does not mean that 'we' as passengers do not need to continue to observe some modicum of safety and precaution against C-19 or does it? I can only liken it, somewhat, to were a highway's speed limit raised from 65 mph to 90 mph, does that mean we need to attain the higher speed just because the auto can and without any casualties along the way? Some of us want our freedom of choice, yet do not want to accept the personal responsibility and added costs associated with the decision to cruise/travel at this time, were one to become infected or severely ill. Not to think about infecting others (fellow passengers, crew and staff) along the way. I happen to be that person who one might see flying down the freeway with my mask still on (so I do not forget it for the most part) and wear in most places where the 'policy' dictates masks are optional... I say go for it, especially if you do not plan on leaving your home area or state, for the most part or can get home easily. In health and bon voyage
  15. Thank you for this view point, something which may not have been considered i.e. not only limited to X... bon voyage
  16. Thank you, the poster cannot get their mind around what the mode of transmission really is, as opposed to it is someone else's fault that their sister and friends contracted C-19. Understandable, yet were they to reach home safely and without infection, then a bullet dodged. We have to understand the risks 'accepted' when cruising in these times and not go blindly and think that 'recommended' behaviour/policy does not apply to us... LOL Good luck with that, as we are reading. This is NOT to insinuate that it is the total fault of those who are C-19+ during or after their sailing as opposed to saying 'I know this virus is highly transmissible and we are in very closed spaces how do I best protect myself and enjoy the cruise despite it all? In health and bon voyage
  17. While I read the distress in your post, I can not think of any reason why a contingency plan was not in place on passengers part 'just in case I become positive?'. I Am sure you are soured on cruising or X or foreign travel for a while now. We set sail soon and have discussed our contingency plans aboard ship and on land were either or both of us to contract C-19... We understand that we may not leave the ship unscathed by this. IMO - just because we can cruise, to some degree again, we must take stock of everything that this entails were we to become infected with C-19 and what about were we to become ill from something else like heart attack or stroke or other serious communicable disease? The moral of many experiences include: be ready, if not ready, get ready because we will not be in control over the situation for a bit... In health and bon voyage
  18. While I Am sure the ship was disinfected, to some degree, before your sister and friend boarded, My question would be what precautions did they, your sister and friend, take while aboard? Mask, social distance, etc.??? I think this is critical information to include in your post, too. If your sister and friend are not part of CC, it sounds like someone did not tell them of the number of infections and quarantines and protocols posted here. I think this is a massive fail on someones part. Sorry about their quarantine and I trust their travel insurance will pick up the tab... AND they will return home quickly and safely. Yes, let us blame the crew and X for the rampant spread of C-19 aboard ANY ship on ANY line... very convenient to pass blame. Whom do you think most of the crew contracted it from since, as I understand it, cannot get off the ship to interact with land based C-19 carriers? LOL In health and bon voyage
  19. You may want to just visit NCL's web page and Bermuda's Government Health Page to get updated and correct info... In health and bon voyage
  20. I think it is a safe bet that in this situation, the passenger would be denied boarding. bon voyage
  21. Of course it is not at our expense, as we can choose to not sail, sail on other lines if the anticipated capacity is too much for us and etc... I rather keep the pricing at current levels as far out as possible vs lower capacity... bon voyage
  22. No worries, we read many 'panic' posts around here.. many of which are labeled as such! LOL Happy to read that everything is working out, as expected on your part. bon voyage
  23. In addition the let down of being positive all this time and not being able to react accordingly, in a timely manner.... In health and bon voyage
  24. For us, it would be the last 2 1/4 hour wait for a meal, in fact at 45 minutes, I would be in the kitchen finding out what was or was not going on!!! Yes, that means I might be banned from the MDR, but well worth the ban, then I would go up the food chain to the D&B Manager!!! LOL Then they will know that the Mad Vegan is aboard, big time. bon voyage
