  1. For myself, I do understand and accept accordingly. Was the sailing ruined because I could not eat there? No. Would it have been enhanced were I able to eat there? Most likely. Really, it was not a deal breaker or upset for me. I plan on asking Chef Boloud to add a vegan option to his menu for the sailing in 2023... I will start this by November of this year for August of 2023... plenty of time to know if it will happen or not.. LOL bon appetit and bon voyage
  2. c - X is under contract with DB over the offerings with his name attached to them. While in his restaurants, on land, the Chef may be able or willing to accommodate, on the high seas they are not permitted to and I understand, for sure, as once they start changing the menu the whole idea gets diluted and unrefined. Was I disappointed, of course. Was I mad, well maybe for seven (7) minutes. It made me determined to make the rest of my dining experiences, after a two (2) year absence aboard any ship, the best ever! bon appetit and bon voyage
  3. Yes, rc, I truly enjoyed the sailing, crew, staff and the CC members met aboard.... The MDR, for dinner, was amazing and accommodating, to say the least... after day three (3) they prepared off menu vegan items for me and I even gave them several curve balls as to what I would like including a vegetable tagine... out of the park... then there were a few dishes I requested that went flat, YET I asked for them and they delivered accordingly. A different dessert every night in addition to increasing the number of sorbets in OVC every night. How could I complain about that... LOL, well maybe about the additional weight I have to work diligently to remove it and then some... bon appetit and bon voyage
  4. To report - Miami said I would be accommodated with a vegan meal, once aboard I was told no accommodations could be made as they are under contract with DB with that stipulation! What is true, I canceled accordingly. Bon Appétit and bon voyage
  5. Thank you for the clarification, yet I do understand the point, yet still IMO, those of us who choose to continue to cruise despite the ongoing struggles and ever moving policy targets are sailing at our own risk regardless, again IMO. On the sailing I just finished, the Captain announced that masks were mandatory in the casino and theater. It appeared, to me, that at least 40% of Americans ignored the request. Quite a few took masks to enter the theater and promptly discarded them once seated. Does anyone really believe that I need to really care about those individuals, apparently, whose rights were being abridged for the greatest benefit of all passengers health and chose to not care about others? Does anyone really believe that I need to care if those individuals chose to get on the elevator unmasked with coughing running rampant and the Captain's request being ignored? It is "My" position that the flaunted need to take care of themselves and not expect X to do so, just because they want to be made whole for getting C-19. I wore my mask, and sometimes double, in all public spaces aboard and never used the convenience of a beverage in my hand while walking of me as an excuse. Yet, if this type of behavior provides a "pass" for not protecting yourself, others, the crew and staff as well, then so be it. In health and bon voyage
  6. Options, options, options... bon voyage
  7. Which begs me to ask the question, given what a few of us know about the draconian protocols surrounding C-19, what is the reason one would take the risk if they are 'adverse' to any degree to the protocols? Hopefully, more people will cancel and pricing and/or protocols will adjust accordingly.... Good for me, I must admit.. LOL bon voyage
  8. I say go ahead and have a national story done to attract attention to your situation. What more do you have to lose over this? bon voyage
  9. Our condolences on your loss, as well for those of us who enjoyed his postings, humor and great input. bon voyage buddy!!!
  10. The OP may have gotten a more 'economical' fare than what DL may be charging. bon voyage
  11. Of course based on the evidence by the number of posters here on CC, you are quite correct, yet again, with such a small 'sub-set' of 'statistical data' to use as evidence that everything onboard is bad and intolerable is way outside of the probability of guessing that it really is. There were/are a few posters here on CC who have reported good treatment while in quarantine aboard several X ships, shall we dismiss those as anecdotal or accept only the upset mistreated as the 'in fact' treatment of all who enter quarantine is bad and no contact is only made with the medical team when they drop by to take ones temperature? If that is in fact your and others posit, I accept it from you and still presume that the information which is presented is not correct until one can present, even remotely, convincing data to support the thesis. Most of us who have been on CC for some time understand that the greatest percentage of passengers on any X sailing does not even approximate a representative number of people who post on CC. Roll calls and CC Parties bear this out to a great degree. OR on your next sailing you can take an informal survey of fellow passengers to determine if they know of CC and/or have ever posted here. Just do a sampling and that will be good. I Am very willing to understand and accept any supporting info to the contrary anyone will or can present. If not, well.... At this juncture, is it really worth it for anyone's particular point? Most likely not as we need to concentrate on keeping safe if we choose to sail, enjoying the sailing, have great times in whatever ports we visit, and help keep the staff and crew safe. In health and bon voyage
  12. LOL, that is what I say when I see my bourbon bottle teetering on fumes!!! Glad to know that you did enjoy as much as was available, regardless... Cheers and bon voyage
  13. How understandable... When I called the Bermuda Dept of Health as we did not received everyone's link to upload docs, I was on hold for 52 minutes and that was because there were 67 callers before me at 8a EST, not sure when you called yet they do announce how many callers are ahead and "the wait time is more than nine (9) minutes" not sure how one does not hear that info to judge how they may choose to approach the issue. Clearly for me it is/was in my best interest to hold and speak to someone about the situation I encountered. Since I have a speaker phone on my cell phone, I waited and waited and the count down was getting closer to me. I eventually went to get a quick takeout breakfast and the number of callers before me was 20... by the time I returned to the office there were six (6) and within 12 minutes after that announcement someone picked up the call and I was able to conclude my business. If I recollect, correctly, you have leveled this accusation before at the Government of Bermuda without any sources of proof and not it sounds like an attack because you have to pay for a Travel Authorization when you may or may not believe you need or have to under any circumstances. What 'may be 'ridiculous and/or pathetic' are those of us who will preserver to board The Summit regardless of our thoughts and beliefs on the situation. The other real option is to just be a no-show and let it go or better yet, cancel today to get some type of compensation, if still available. bon voyage
  14. Maybe you will meet a few of the other 'inmates' and compare notes as to who had it worse??? LOL How will they be able to verify that you did not have lobster every other night, with your wine replenished daily... In health and bon voyage
  15. So you are a stowaway... A dream for many, I Am sure even if in quarantine! LOL Do they provide a specific menu to check from like room service OR can you just call up and say "today I think I will have crepes Suzette, Belgian Waffles w/Irish Cream Butter, for dinner rack of lamb, rare, Jasmine Brown Rice infused with Saffron. Dessert? Let me get back to you on that... bon appetit and bon voyage In health and bon voyage
  16. hc - LOL I did not realize you were such a lush and a good one at that... Cheers and bon voyage
  17. The policy, as I needed to state for those not in the know, is what The Captain and Medical Center determine on their sailing. I Am sure there are 'general guidelines' which HQ has forwarded to all ships and Captains to follow, the rest is up to them to implement, as such we will not see much in writing for public consumption. In health and bon voyage
  18. Methinks you have not taken into consideration that those whom you "... have also seen.." are from here on CC represent a very small group of those either who are on the ship and/or are in quarantine. Many of us are vocal at that. Now, were you to state that you are in touch with XX% number of those who are in quarantine (i.e. 15% at minimum) for me, your observations and statement would be very compelling along with how those who are being treated 'badly' and/or are not being checked on by X while in quarantine. Do you think, statistically, 15% is a good starting point to extrapolate what is really going on aboard for those who have contracted C-19 or not? Please confirm that you are or are not in touch with that number of non-CC posters, then we have a basis to further think about what X is really doing or not and can comment accordingly. In health and bon voyage
  19. No, per policy. Although there have been exceptions posted on the board. bon voyage
  20. I concur, yet there are a few posters who really, really, really want to quarantine in their original cabin not worrying about spreading C-19 by being on the balcony with passengers on either side who do not test positive. IMO what defeats the purpose is not corralling all who contracted C-19 in one area... while nice to stay in the cabin we ordered upon booking, if ill then all be in one area for observation and any treatment necessary. In health and bon voyage
  21. While it may take upwards of 15 minutes, can you not back into the price, generally, as we know what the daily pricing is gratuities, internet and beverage package? Or is there something which I have not considered in the calculation which you are seeking? bon voyage
  22. m - you will find some phenomenal options next week... If you do not, do what I would do - ask to speak with the F&B Manager, they will surely help out and then some... If you do speak with the F&B Manager, have a glass of the more expensive wine in hand for illustration... LOL, and when they provide a good resolution, then you can raise your glass and say Thank You and Cheers... Let us know how you make out upon your return... Cheers and bon voyage
  23. I think your husband is up to something good with this input. He is clearly prepared to enjoy sea life and all that it has to offer even if it 'possibly' may or may not include seeing a few life boats... from the cabin window. There are, potentially, greater issues to think about on your sailing, IMO. Go, sail, enjoy!!! bon voyage
  24. Advice is: the bartenders and/or wine stewards or whoever will be serving you, let them know you are on the classic package and they will pour accordingly. If they have nothing they will provide you with the upgraded wine at no additional charge, usually, OR let you know nothing is available. A few posters have written about the reverse, getting a cheaper wine than the package they have i.e. classic wine under premium package. If they do not have a wine within your package, request they go find it, it may take a while but they will remember you and the request. Cheers and bon voyage
