Back to back voyages with different testing requirements?
Tonopah replied to DanielleFaye's topic in Cunard Line
We just asked our Agent, as we are in a similar situation. You can schedule on board tests for $35. Ask at the Purser’s during the first leg of the journey. -
Should We Give Up an Evening in QG for Dinner at the Verandah?

Weather is weird here in Big Swampy. Dark and overcast. It looks like Autumn but step outside and it is 86 degrees and humid. It was beautiful for a couple of days after Ian passed by, but its back to sauna weather now.Sigh I’m making thin glove inserts for our heavy mittens in preparation for the cold. In Tromsø in November it will be 60-70 degrees (f) colder than when we leave home. We have less than two weeks before we depart for our voyage on QM2. -

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. We are doing well at the Tonopah Ranch. Heavy rain and gusty wind but nothing serious where we are. We haven’t even lost power. We shall see what the rest of the day and tomorrow brings. -
The ship stalls in the middle of the ocean. All the power goes out. The emergency lighting doesn’t work. The ship starts to list to port. The crew is nowhere to be found. Is that music in the Queen’s Room? There’s a scream. Somewhere, a dog barks… It really is your final night. Happy Halloween Cunard never does things half way, do they?

Notes from Queen Victoria to the Mediterranean (& back)
Tonopah replied to Host Hattie's topic in Cunard Line
Solent Ships live webcam live chat had passengers on it. They say they are underway. -
We received an email from our Travel Agent today telling us no testing was required. I sent back an email with the blurb from Cunard saying we had to test. She re-checked. No testing for the Northern Lights but, as TheOldBear noted above, testing required for the TA. She told us Cunard will organise it onboard. We’ve tried to be upbeat about everything but find ourselves a bit frustrated and overwhelmed with the changes and confusion.

We are getting Rapid Antigen test and should receive a “Fit to Fly” certificate. You can call them to get more information but they are closed on Monday for the Day of Mourning. -

We are doing in-person appointments at the clinic. And yes, your timing is correct. -

We have appointments at Harley Street Clinic which is very convenient to our hotel. We reserved months ago and the prices seem to have gone up since then. Probably locals can give you other options. -

Still rainy, hot, and humid here in Big Swampy. Looking forward to cooler weather. Definitely getting to crunch time or our voyage. 46 days to embarkation and I am having nightmares. Last night’s involved being late, missing paperwork, and being dropped off by the taxi at the wrong place. I could see the ship but couldn’t reach it in time to embark. I think the notice that we still need an observed COVID test has me worried. We were still going to get tested at a clinic in London anyway, so I’m not sure why I’m bothered. -
We are on the Northern Lights voyage on QM2 embarking 1 November from Southampton, and the subsequent TA. Our email today says we must have an observed lateral flow test within 2 days of embarkation.

Please tell me something to look forward to on QM2 this week
Tonopah replied to hope2's topic in Cunard Line
You will be on the Queen Mary 2. Just being there is something to look forward to. We’ve been waiting over 2 years (2020 voyage cancelled). We will be happy just to sit in our (completely obstructed) balcony cabin and sip the dreaded Pol Acker, You’ve already jumped through all the hoops. Remember why you did it. -

Are they doing the passenger talent show or choir? Thanks.

Busy day today at the Tonopah Homestead. We cleaned out our closets, decided what we are packing, decided what we still need, threw some things away, donated some things. Our Norway voyage on the QM2 is just 8 weeks away. No hint of Autumn here in Big Swampy. 95° with thunderstorms. *sigh* Dobby is exhausted after (watching) all that work. -

So very sorry for your loss. She was beautiful and was lucky to have you. 💔 -
I will be on the QM2 in November and will certainly look for the book.

We take early seating because we like to dance the night away. If we had tea we usually skipped dinner. We rarely linger over our meals, but eating earlier gives us a chance to do it if we so choose and still have time to get to other activities. We eat early at home, as well so it isn’t anything new. I’ve only just discovered the late night (11PM-1AM ish?) dining in King’s Court, so if we are peckish after dancing the night away that will be an option.

I am neither on the ship nor heading to France, but I absolutely clicked on the link and went perusing. It’s so nice to dream of ships and France and Wine. Thanks for the mini vacation.
