  1. I take long skirts and palazzzo pants, then six tops to mix and match for evenings. During the day I go complete comfort. We’re going to Norway in November and we are from Florida, so we will have extra heavy clothes for the daytime. We get all of our clothes in one large suitcase plus a garment bag for Mister’s shoes and tux. I’m not a shoe person but for our 21 days there will be 1 pair (yes, only one pair) black dress shoes, one pair dance shoes, one pair trainers, one pair sandals/flip flops (for spa pool days), and one pair of hiking boots for our shore days. Of course the requisite night/under things. I’m hoping there will be slippers on board.🤞 Yes, we pack only one large suitcase but we still plan to use Luggage Forward because we hate schlepping luggage.
  2. Just the day before. So if you are leaving on the 15th, your test should say the 14th but any time on the 14th is fine.
  3. Hover over my user name and you will see… Also, I loved the food on our crossing, and the Tikka Masala in the Golden Lion was so good I had it twice!
  4. The more crowded the dance floor, the more adjustment dancers make. In the early evening we dance to recorded music with few other couples we dance more expansively and move more. As the dance floor fills, we adjust, maybe taking smaller steps and staying toward the outside of the floor. If it is a traveling dance, dancers go in the same direction so it can be crowded and dancers can still move. If the dance floor is packed like in those 1940s movies with soldiers and dime-a-dance girls, the dance just changes. Not all dances travel. We were abject beginners when we first crossed on the QM2 and we were welcomed to the dance floor by people with years of experience. Most dancers are welcoming, and those who are not are probably rude in other areas of their lives, as well. We are just sorry it took us until late in life to learn to dance. Come and dance with us! You are welcome. We’ll make room for you as others made room for us.
  5. These are fantastic! Thank you for sharing.
  6. The Queen’s Room is a BALLROOM and therefore, ballroom dancing takes place. G32 (on QM2) is for nightclub type dancing.
  7. Holiday Monday (Memorial Day) here at home. Scruffy Dog (Dobby) can barely contain his excitement. Also, MisterTonopah and I made a ginormous plain apple pie. Summer is just around the corner and our QM2 trip is exactly 5 months away! Hope you all are doing well.
  8. Oh, Mister and I had only a few weeks’ lessons under our belt when we danced on the QM2. It is not only for competitors or high level dancers. We were absolute beginners and were welcomed to the floor by most of the dancers. As a matter of fact, we had NEVER done a quickstep. We took the hour long lesson early in the day and danced it at the very basic level that evening. Come and dance. It is fun and you will be welcome. We are on the QM2 in November and this time we will have nearly 4 years’ worth of lessons. We do it for fun. We are certainly not competitors.
  9. Plus, more time on a Cunard ship! Lucky you!
  10. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is amazing. We went to Cleveland to see it, the Christmas Story house, and a baseball game. Turns out we arrived during the filming of The Avengers which was an unexpected adventure. Sadly, the Christmas Story was closed and we could only look through the windows. The baseball park is gorgeous. But the R&R HOF was the highlight of the visit. We want to go back.
  11. 1. He was in the U.S. Navy so I’m guessing he had uniforms, something called dungarees, books, and a GameBoy. 2. I served in the U.S. Air Force, so I don’t speak squid, sorry. 3. Sort of a prison ship. He couldn’t leave. He was on a ship in the Gulf and on the way home got waylaid by a humanitarian mission when a Tsunami hit in the Indian Ocean. Supposedly the longest deployment since 1944??
  12. Our son once did an 11 month cruise with nothing but a single ditty bag…
  13. I am so enjoying this thread. Thank you.
  14. Thanks so much! November 13. We arrive on the QM2 then embark that same evening for the second leg/TA.
  15. We would be interested in such a tour. Do you know how to go about booking it? The official church site is (understandably) about service times, etc. I found one site that is tours by locals but is quite pricey. We wouldn’t mind just taking a taxi and exploring on our own, but it sounds like your tour was informative and entertaining. We won’t be in Southampton until November, so I understand opening times and availability might change.
  16. People work. They just don’t want to work for peanuts and now they don’t have to.
  17. Take as much on board as you want. You will be absolutely fine. Leave it with the staff, and pay the corkage as you wish.
  18. I would bring a windbreaker. We crossed in July and were so happy we had our windbreakers for the early mornings.
  19. You got a bargain and you are going to be so happy. Don’t even give it another thought.
