  1. Walk as mant stairs as you like and then take the elevator the rest of the way? Just a thought.
  2. Isn't this a Navy thing? Why not leave the silliness to them?
  3. Maybe you were in a different category last time? If not, it's your imagination.
  4. This thread is not about other cruise lines.
  5. Southwest will do fine ----- until they strand you somewhere.
  6. The opportunity to compete with other cruisers is a criteria for us.
  7. If this is your criteria you are going to run out of airlines.
  8. I just leave it on the bed. It vaniches one day and reappears the next. Magic!
  9. Is the fact that "The service charge is clearly noted in their materials" adequate? Would it not be more forthcoming of Viking to mention the additional charge at the time of booking? Are not charges of this sort (resort fees, convenience fees, etc.) typically stated in the amount the customer is expected to pay and known before the "pay" button is pushed?
  10. Maybe the hotel manager would arrange to distribute envelopes for you but I doubt it. The only sure way for the people you want to tip to actually get them is from your hand.
  11. What about those who prefer booking their own air?
  12. Yeah. A $45 ticket to a MLB game cost me $60 (convenience fee, processing fee, etc.). Boils my blood.
  13. Perhaps plebeian but we have always been at least OK with the included wines. On a few occasions we have asked if one or the other from last night is still an option and have never been disappointed.
  14. It remains pretty clear that if one wishes "gratuities" to go directly to the foks who provide him/her services on a particular cruise one must do so by distributing cash out of his/her own pocket without regard to whatever Viking is up to. Note that nobody is "left out" under this scenario because they still get the same level of "gratuity" that Viking provides via their secret distribution scheme. The person who chooses to opt out of the "gratuity" scam is simply signalling that he/she understands the reality of the situation and is unwilling to participate in Viking's shenanigan. For those readying their slings and arrows ----- no, I am not an "opt out" person - not yet. But I may well become one and will, at that point, provide at least the same level of "gratuity" as I do currently to the company slush fund. As stated earlier I am getting to where I feel no obligation to be upfront with a company which is not upfront with me.
  15. Interesting. Do the folks who have this fee included in their fare have the option of having it removed?
  16. The relevance escapes me. Care to explain?
  17. Is elite the level where you get "one free scoop of gelato?"
  18. "I am interested to learn that both Duquephart and CDNPolar have partners who apparently disapprove of their stance on the policy." Where do you get that from?
  19. Did the guy wiping his nose go wash his hands?
  20. Our tour guide joked that the showers were within walking distance of the rooms.
