  1. My guess is they want to be prepared. Like at home when a hurricane is near, you go ahead and fill up your car's gas tank, you don't wait till tomorrow.
  2. I don't like to have too many people or too much activity around me. I want to feel like I am on a ship and see the ocean from wherever I am. The mega ships seem to be monstrosities to me. Glad they are an option for whomever likes them though.
  3. Worked for tips my whole life, in my opinion there are two types of individuals,, those who like to tip and those who do so begrudgingly.
  4. I like the "dated" menu choices I see on the MDR menus, they fit the mystique of dining on a ship. At home I can go to trendy restaurant whenever I want, and the specialty restaurants have modern options.
  5. I'm inclined to tell you to cancel, that's a long time at sea to feel like you're not getting the entertainment you are after.
  6. The latest YouTube video by 'retired and roaming' has some of the shows on it from a recent British Isles sailing. Shows could change of course.
  7. 12 days at $62 + grat $1755.84 for 2 ppl and we have $500 OBC, and suite perks....gonna skip it and drink like we would on any vacation, I'll report back how it ends up working out for us.
  8. Write in longhand, a journal of your journey on the ship will be interesting reading years from now. Write a few stories from your life. Lie down on a deck chair at night and gaze at the stars, breathing the fresh cool sea air. Lose track of time.
  9. Having been a restaurant server in the USA since 1978, I can tell you that Germans have gotten much, MUCH better, I'd say over the past 20 years. Not the best tippers in the world, that's true. But decent. No longer do we groan when a party of Germans sits down in our section. And they are usually very nice and don't make things difficult.
  10. Thank you for showing us this ship! I really wanted to experience Rhapsody for the vintage feel of it, but due to Covid we had to change. OMG I feel for the crew with all the special needs passengers on your sailing booked to capacity!
  11. Agree, more likely the issues you mention and not the new management.
  12. I'm guessing they don't leave it out and unattended as someone might trip over it and sue.
  13. I was just entertaining the thought, it if was possible hypothetically. Waiting 2 1/2 years to finally have my 60th birthday cruise, I've had a long time to think haha.
  14. For this particular sailing, the solo rate was more like 1.5x. Transatlantic.
  15. Let's say my sister and I already booked a 1 br suite that we like, but there's an inside cabin available down the hall for total black-out sleep, and it could be an extra dressing room (!) could I add that cabin at a single rate or somehow?
  16. Money. Slip your regular server $20 and tell him or her if there's any way he can come up with Lobster Benedict for breakfast, you'll appreciate it.
  17. Getting excited here, lockdown a distant memory, finally looks like I'll get that TA crossing I first planned 3.5 years ago!! Things are much different in these parts now, friends selling out to move away from the influx of north easterners. Sometimes I feel like it's still "lockdown" because I don't want to venture out into the crowds and traffic. Being pampered in the middle of the Atlantic will be a great reward.
  18. Maybe someone at Royal did it for their own entertainment to see the reaction 🤣
  19. Are they able to change key? I have never been near a karaoke machine but people insist you have to do it least once in your lifetime. My vocal range if you can call it that makes a lower key necessary. Thanks....Jewel of the Seas btw
  20. Seems like a trivial amount of money to be irritated about whether or not they gave any advance warning of the increase.
