Daily Service Charges are now officially out of hand
goldfish65 replied to bjlaac's topic in Royal Caribbean International
One small correction I believe to the long post at the top of the page....nowadays, most commonly, credit card tips go on the employee's paycheck....true at one time, we got our tips every night but that changed some time ago. Streamlined the process. Also my $.02 on tip pools...you may have some team members underperforming because they know they'll still get the same paycheck...but often that person gets some serious peer pressure and scrutiny...in my experience, with a tip pool, we all work together and help one another. -
What is your next cruise booked for 2023?

Grandeur Jan 8, 5 nt. Just to experience the oldest, smallest ship in an inside cabin deck 7 solo. -
I won my RoyalUp bid! Balcony to Grand Suite!
goldfish65 replied to ckrobyn's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I beg to differ. She'll have the suite lounge for a quiet continental breakfast, happy hour free drinks and hors d'oeuvres, concierge assistance, free room service, daily breakfast in Chops with escort off the ship at departure. -
Why some waiters are able to bring the food so quick
goldfish65 replied to mcatmcat's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I am a waiter. Some of us work faster than others, that's pretty much it. -
Another cut being tested: Once per day cabin service
goldfish65 replied to Tenderpaw's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Another my $.02 I feel that we can politely tell the steward whatever our preference is and they'll do their best. From the responses here with so many only wanting cabin service once a day, those who want more should be able to get it if they ask. Thanks for the heads-up about this. -
My $.02 disgusting people everywhere in public are a given. For example, two couples having a very loud, boisterous conversation in the middle of the centrum, drowning out the virtuoso jazz pianist whom the few other people in the area were trying to enjoy. Your own home or private club are the only places you may avoid scenarios like these.

Jewel of a baby born at sea

Guessing the expectant mother did not follow the rules and put her child and her own life at risk. Going by the reports. -
How to choose a Transatlantic itinerary?
goldfish65 replied to kj_connections's topic in Royal Caribbean International
It's kind of nice to choose a westbound so that you don't have such a long plane ride home that wipes out all the relaxation you got on the ship. -
All Access Tours — are they back?
goldfish65 replied to PrincessPatti's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Did it last month on Jewel, same price and worth it to my sister and me, it was fascinating how everything works and the crew members were very engaging. Our tour took three hours, having to wait at times for the next area to be ready for us. They were still getting up to speed with the process I think. -
ICON of the seas - what are your first thoughts

I don't think cruising is the reason, but when they find themselves within a short drive, they will be. -

Intrusive Staff in Main Dining Room
goldfish65 replied to cello56's topic in Royal Caribbean International
My $.02....Many of the staff are new and not experienced. It's an awkward thing to fault someone when they are trying to please us. Yet we want to enjoy our dinner! IMO the solution is to muster our social and communication skills. This is easier at the beginning. But this can work for any issue, kindly assure them that you appreciate their service very much, but you prefer not to be interrupted and if there is anything you need, you will beckon them to come to your table. At a later time, thank them again for understanding your particular needs and reward them if it's your habit to do so. -
She chose a very strong and brave husband. It's the most difficult and the most noble thing, to care for a loved one in their time of need.

New menus on Symphony reported
goldfish65 replied to John&LaLa's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I just received a survey email asking for my feedback on the main dining experience I desire. Many questions. Included was a sample menu with some changes. It did not have shrimp cocktail or any type of fin-fish or any simple preparations like salmon or chicken. Assuming one can still request these items, I thought it was a good menu. -
Made some cruise planner purchases today. When I went to pay, the payment went on my sister's credit card she had registered from our previous cruise, automatically. She's not going on this cruise. How the heck do I get her card removed, short of waiting on hold for an estimated 2 hrs 40 min?? So weird.

So much for a Royal Black Friday
goldfish65 replied to PCWalton1's topic in Royal Caribbean International
You'll have Black Friday 2023 before you sail, maybe it will be better. -
You should definitely do Love & Marriage. I could tell the couples really enjoyed it and made their cruise memorable. The cruise director made it very relaxed and fun.

would love to do a TA but airfare back to US crazy.
goldfish65 replied to LB_NJ's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Westbound, it's nice to arrive home relaxed instead of jet lagged...we come home with more luggage because it is worthwhile to shop in Europe, would be hassle packing it all for the plane ride. -

On the menu it says bechamel, but on Jewel last month it was missing, I pointed that out to our waiter and he brought me some. Lasagne was good to me, the meat was shredded, not hamburger-like.
