I thought this thread was about an 80s pop band from the UK. I would have been amazed had they been performing on a cruise ship. People coughing over other folk are just selfish and ignorant. But they exist everywhere.

Am I alone in finding this thread weird? I would be way too embarrassed to give a grown up human being a bar of chocolate for basically being my bed maker, servant, personal valet throughout my holiday. Sorry, this thread is too weird.

so on our upcoming cruise, 11 night cruise 2 sea days an overnight in Istanbul, so treating the 2nd day as a sea day. we have booked a few excursions, Istanbul, the other place in Turkey who's name escapes me, Santorini, Athens and Sicily. Last port before Rome, and being dumped off the ship, is Naples. Been there 3 times now, so we may treat this as a sea day also. And we have a port stop in Mykonos, so might not get off there either. that would give us 5 excursion days and 5 sea days. Perfect

This. One million times this. Makes me mad thinking about some of the entitled nasty folk I have encountered even on my short cruising life. I even feel guilty for the poor staff that run around day and night making us feel "special". I grew up and still live in a very working class Northern UK town. I hope I never forget where I came from. And it makes me feel lucky knowing what could have been, when I see we have over 50 foodbanks in this town, and a lot of homelessness.

It probably isnt in your best interest to understand my logic. I heartily accept that sometimes there isnt any. But I can confirm that I have absolutely zero interest in ever going to Israel.

DFDS do a short cruise from North Shields to Amsterdam. I wouldnt recommend it though.

equal amounts would suit me. I love sea days but wouldnt if the ship was rocking all over the place. That would feel like a punishment to me. So a few days in the Med during summer on a calm sea is just the ticket. And I never get bored. Love running and walking, and drinking. And eating a bit too. Wife loves sunbathing, and reading, and drinking, so I make myself her personal waiter, and as long as she gets a regular top up of wine etc, I am free to do whatever I like. She has witnessed me getting gently drunk, without me even realising she noticed, as i went on a bar crawl around the ship. And me believing I hid it well. Is there anything better than sitting at a bar on your own with a beer watching the world go by?

Forced fun is a dreadful concept.

as we are younguns in cruising terms we still have full time jobs, with limited holidays. I have just started a new role, on the UKs largest construction project, been there one week, and already booked 2 weeks off. No way could I have stretched that out even further. My Wife is from Southampton originally, but its a longer drive to get there than a flight to Rome is. SO, we do what we can.

Should have added that we fly the same day as cruise starts. Because of short flight times.

The trip to Cozumel was a port stop on a disney cruise. 2002. Western Caribbean Rome is only a 3 hour flight for us from the UK. So every cruise we have done in Europe has started in Rome, and returned to Rome. To stay the extra day or two days is almost the same cost as the cruise. Plus we are limited to no of days holidays because of work and our dog being looked after.

My wife wouldnt go anywhere cold. We live in Northern England. We are always cold. She wants a warm couple of weeks.

That would be ace. Not sure I will remember their faces mind.

Istanbul, Kusadasi, and Naples are on the agenda for my upcoming cruise. As is santorini. I absolutely loved Dubrovnik. Would go back there in a heartbeat. Been to Rome airport 6 times but never been to Rome. It just holds no appeal to me whatsover. Maybe my lack of religion?

We met three other couples last year, 2 of which we shared the restaurant times with. They were all nice people. I took no photos and cant even remember one of their names. Not one.

I dont even do pics. I was on twitter the other day, and someone asked people to put a photo of them when they were young. Hundreds of people did. I dont have any photos of myself, even from the last 12 months never mind the last 50 years. I had to take one last year for my pass. deleted it straight after.

I suspect a few, especially non british folk, dont quite understand how boisterous and volatile football supporters get, especially in large numbers, usually mixed with way too much alcohol. Unfortunately, especially English football supporters.
