  1. Makes me wonder if someone didn't go to their muster station. I bet the Captain is PISSED.
  2. THIS is an analog phone 🤣 : My wife and daughter use iPhones, I use an android, and we've never seen much difference. If you're sons are able to access the Hub App but not the internet it certainly sounds like they're not logged in. Go to Guest Services and see if they can help solve the issue.
  3. Here ya' go. I kind of like these, they'll definitely get used. A new set of luggage would have been nice, but I guess I'll be happy with whatever I can get. 😁
  4. That's too bad, but it sure beats the alternative of being stuck there because the ship sustained damage (such as the Norwegian Escape which was grounded while trying to leave port in the Dominican Republic in high winds). But to be honest the next time we're in Nassau I'm staying on the ship. We were there in November and between the construction and multiple ships disembarking at the same time it was a total cluster f%$#.
  5. I'm thinking about surprising my wife with a Virgin cruise. I've looked online for information on 'status matching' and haven't been able to find much. We're Platinum on Carnival, what will that equate to on Virgin?
  6. All drains have a trap to prevent gas from flowing backwards (just like the trap under your sink at home). So long as there's water in those traps no gas can get back into your bathroom I've heard that the trap for the floor drain (located behind the toilet) can sometimes dry out and if that happens you'll get 'the smell'. Just pour a couple cups of water down that floor drain to ensure the trap has water in it and you won't have to worry about covering it.
  7. The length of your cruise has a lot to do with the type of crowd. Shorter cruises (especially 3 and 4 day) tend to have more rowdiness. And even though Carnival has deck parties etc. they're easy to avoid.
  8. Yep. Your get a special Carnival pin and the KOOZIE at Pixels. And you can get a large bottle of water at any bar.
  9. What does it cost to purchase more time if that happens? Or to upgrade to Premium if we want to be able to stream?
  10. I just booked my first cruise with Norwegian on the Getaway. I've got around 15 cruises under my belt, mostly with Carnival, but haven't been on Norwegian yet. So anyway, I booked the "Free at Sea" package and only after the booking was complete did I notice that it says "up to 150 minutes" of internet usage, which brings up some questions. How is that 150 minutes measured? Is it like the days of dial-up when every single second that you're connected counts? Also, how good is the internet on Norwegian ships? Will it be like internet on most Carnival ships where even the "Premium" internet is pretty bad. And finally, if I find that I "need" faster service will I be able to upgrade to Premium for less than full price?
  11. That's a damned sight better than Georgia fans barking at each other (or at nobody in particular).
  12. I think that's the thread I started on behalf of my daughter. And yes, the brokerage statement acknowledging her stock purchase worked just fine.
  13. Our Christmas cruise on Magic was our first as Platinum. Since we had an 8+ hour drive ahead of us we used self debarkation. The notice we received said to be at the meeting point at 7:00 AM, we figured it'd be a good idea to get there a bit early and was there at 6:45 only to see a long line of folks with Platinum sail-and-sign cards walking off the ship already. I must say, it was fantastic being on the road by a few minutes after 7:00 (except that our parade got rained on by I-75 being shut down near the state line). For those of you who have done this a few times, how early would you have arrived, and is it pretty common to be able to leave early when the ship arrives in port early?
  14. Yeah, I don't donate my money to Carnival through the casino, so all that affects me are the VIFP offers. I loaded up on good offers while they were out there, I've got cruises booked through next February but nothing beyond that. In the absence of some good offers I'm really thinking of trying out some other lines.
  15. I'll cast my lot with those who say "not likely" because of the fact that those drinks are labeled 'Margarita" and "Cocktail'. The security people aren't going to concern themselves with alcohol content, they've got thousands of items to inspect in a short amount of time. We're going to start bringing some champagne and OJ to make mimosas for sitting on our balcony and watching the sun set.
  16. I suspect the casino offers will keep on coming so long as you continue donating money to Carnival. But I was really wondering about non-casino offers.
  17. I certainly haven't seen any very good deals lately, I'm wondering about anyone else. Also, I got off Magic a week and a half ago and haven't seen any post-cruise deals either (I've checked on Carnival's website several times). I've got several cruises booked through the spring of 2024 so I'm suspicious that has something to do with it.
  18. You and about a thousand of your new friends will all want on that first water shuttle (for some reason that's the official term now 😁 ). IF you have priority status you might get one of the early shuttles, otherwise you'll be waiting until after all of the folks with Carnival excursions. That tour operator should know how this works and that sounds like a somewhat unreasonable (not to mention impossible) request.
  19. You can go to the Guest Services desk once on board and get spare room keys for the guests who are going to swap rooms.
  20. It's been a couple of years since we did one of the excursions on Blue Lagoon Island so my memory is a bit foggy on this - where do you meet the water shuttles to the island? I think I recall that it was right at the cruise docks but I'm not positive about that.
  21. We were in Nassau at the end of November. There's still construction going on, between that and the fact that there were 5 ships in port made it a total cluster f&^% getting in and out of the port area. Just outside of the port area there's plenty of shopping, if that's your thing it could keep you occupied for a few hours, and also plenty of choices for getting a meal or drinks. Personally, I'm seriously considering not even getting off the ship the next time we're there in February.
  22. Yep, I'd love for my boarding pass to SCREAM privilege!!!! 🤣 I turned Platinum for my Christmas cruise, my boarding pass was just the same as everyone else's in that they said "Platinum" at the upper right but nothing else indicated that I had priority boarding. Every single employee we encountered at Port Canaveral who was directing us looked at the boarding pass and sent us to the appropriate "Platinum" line, waiting area, etc. They apparently have been told what to look for on the boarding passes.
