  1. As I recall (it's been 11 months since I've been on Magic) there was a solo performer from time to time by the pool.
  2. There's a possibility that my grandson and his fiancé may want to join us on an upcoming cruise. I just did a mock booking to check cabin availability and Carnival is telling me that they don't have any balcony cabins available for just two people but that there are several available if there were three guests. Is it possible to get Carnival to sell one of those cabins to a couple? What would happen if a three person cabin were booked with two names plus a TBD and the TBD either never did online check-in or else was a no show?
  3. Look up Saint Greg on this message board, he's got a web site with a fairly thorough listing of comedy shows for the various ships. And yes, now that we're well beyond the Covid restart comedians will move from ship to ship fairly frequently.
  4. That's a fairly common practice. All you need to do is go to the guest services desk once on board and get spare key cards.
  5. I haven't been on a Carnival ship in several months, it used to pop up on their website when you were logged in but I don't see it now. Apparently that's changed with the new protocols.
  6. Your "Check In" is done on Carnival's website and can be accessed 14 days (or 16 days in your case) prior to the cruise. If I remember correctly your vaccination attestation has to be done 90 days prior to the cruise (I'm sure I'll be corrected if that's not the case). You just log into your account and indicate that you're either vaccinated or not vaccinated.
  7. That article makes it sound like that gang's hissy fit is only going to last through this weekend, but when they don't get what they want who knows hos long the nonsense will continue. This certainly caught my attention since I'm booked on a cruise to Hawaii soon that's scheduled to stop at Ensenada. I really wonder what will happen if Carnival determines that it's not safe for us to dock there.
  8. I was on Spirit in March, her second or third cruise after drydock as I recall. Everything was in great condition and we even had table cloths in the dining room. I too am a fan of the Spirit Class ships, not too big, not too small...... just right.
  9. Did you not read the part that said: I know it's my responsibility, and I assume that.... 13cheermom admitted to making a mistake, and also makes some good points that Carnival could do a better job at communicating. While I've never missed a final payment (I use a TA who has my credit card on file and also emails me a couple of weeks before final payment) I totally agree that Carnival needs to improve their communication with customers.
  10. We'll be on a Carnival cruise next month to Hawaii. We're doing a Carnival excursion in the morning that will get us back to the port around 4 PM, since the ship doesn't depart until 11 PM I'm looking for ideas for something else to do that evening.
  11. There's been some talk suggesting that no-shows are now charged a hefty cancellation fee, don't know for sure if that's the case or not. Hopefully someone with recent experience can chime in.
  12. OK, sounds good. I booked Alcatraz for early afternoon and an evening SF Bay cruise...... now I just need our ship to get back into port somewhat on time and we're all set.
  13. While I can't answer specifically to Horizon, I've had a cove balcony cabin in the past and it was fine. Mine was under the restaurant and we never heard a single sound from above. I'd avoid being under the galley though.
  14. We'll be in San Francisco in September for a cruise and will have a bit of time afterwards. I'm looking at a tour of Alcatraz and a San Francisco Bay "cruise". I can purchase tickets directly online, and have also been looking at a tour company (Viator) for around $30 more total. Will the tour company offer any added value to justify the higher prices?
  15. This just seems strange to me. Since it's obviously not "emergency" repairs because they're scheduling this over a year in advance it seems like they should have had this planned out already and not risked alienating thousands of customers.
  16. My wife accuses me of having selective hearing, this takes it to a new level. 😁 But anyway, the one time we've cruised with a group of folks we used the hub app to chat and it worked pretty well. The only downside was not being able to ignore that one person who was nonstop telling everyone what she was eating for breakfast, how her coffee tasted, blah blah blah.
  17. We'll be cruising to Hawaii in September and I'm thinking about visiting the Maui Ocean Center. Instead of purchasing this as a shore excursion (and being tied down to the excursion's schedule) I'm thinking it might work out better just to take a taxi or Uber from the port (Kahului). Can anyone give me some feedback as to how reliable that would be as well as an approximate cost?
  18. I changed my mind on a Carnival excursion I'd booked online and deleted it from "Order Details". It no longer shows up there, but when I try to book a different excursion I'm not allowed to because the Carnival website thinks I have a schedule conflict. For anyone who's done this - how long did it take for the website to acknowledge the fact that you un-booked the original excursion? The cruise is in a little over a month.
  19. While I have no direct experience with this situation I'm of the opinion that your best bet is to get on the phone with a Carnival customer service agent to get this resolved.
  20. It sounds like Carnival is the only cruise line that has a bacon "shortage" (and I tend to agree that it's only a shortage of bacon at a price which Carnival will pay). My most recent cruise was on Holland America and they had bacon every morning at the buffet. A big difference though is that each buffet station had servers so that nobody got ridiculous amounts of anything. There most certainly was less waste.
  21. Yep, my wife won a $150 "photo package" only to find out that it was essentially a discount coupon for packages that cost $400 and up. No thanks. In my most humble opinion Carnival should be honest with their customers.
  22. It's not just Magic, I've had pretty much the same experience with every Carnival ship I've been on.
  23. No, the policy hasn't changed. And no, they're still not enforcing it.
  24. I've looked them up in the past and they seem kind of fishy. They claim to offer discounted gift cards but won't say how much until you join whereas EVERYONE knows up front that AARP gives you a 10% discount. Also, I find it questionable that they try to do all things under the sun (insurance, travel, coin collector advise, political advocacy, etc. etc.)
