  1. Look at it this way - they have 17 ships hauling tens of thousands of passengers with transactions on a weekly basis that is a lot to keep track of - esp if you have an outdated computer system.
  2. We are doing the 14 day Authentic Alaska cruisetour in late June hopefully we will see enough of the interior that we can DIY if we want to do it again on our own. Our tour starts in Fairbanks and we spent day one touring there, ending up at Denali for two nights, We then take the train to Talketna and bus to Anchorage for the night then on to Homer for two nights ending up at Seward to board the Jewel for the cruise.
  3. If the itinerary includes Skagway, the recent issues with the railroad dock limits the number of mega ships that can dock there. The Bliss may divert to another port while the Sun can use the other docks. Our first AK cruise was on the Sky in 2003, the Sun was also doing AK cruises both ships out of Seattle on went to Sawyer Glacier the other to Glacier Bay. As to sailing the inside of Vancouver Island, only the Spirit and Jewel do this route, all Seattle cruises go out the Strait of Juan de Fuca, and on the outside of Vancouver Island.
  4. OK from the description. this is a RT Juneau excursion that visits Tracy Arm and Sawyer Glacier and uses all of your time in Juneau. We did this in 2012 on the Pearl and it was great. So to me it sounds like you will visit Dawes Glacier on the ship and then do the small boat when you reach Juneau. In the past there was another small boat excursion that left Juneau ahead of the cruise ship and went down the fjord to the glacier and then you boarded the ship for the trip out. This does not sound like that excursion. I still believe you will enjoy it. Also I could not find a Bliss Cruise departing Seattle on the 23 - the 19 and 26 are the closest to it.
  5. I am too much of a forward planner to allow air (or any) arrangements wait until 30 days before sailing. So last night I got my own flights, yes I spent way more than NCL but I have the flights, seats, and upgrades in hand months before the cruise.
  6. I started cruising back in 2002 when PCC and internet booking options were not available. So I started with a TA and have stayed with him ever since. He is a small agency so he does not book blocks of rooms to get discount from NCL He has however been a most useful source of information that helps us plan our cruises. He also gets to stay on hold with NCL to answer my questions so I don't have to.
  7. Yes, two coupons one for LaCuchina or Modereno and one for Cagney's or La Bistro and two laundry coupons. I should have been clearer. BTW we were on a three week cruise and they extended the laundry to three bags per person (one per week).
  8. We were Platinum on our last cruise and only got one coupon for dinner. Our last cruise was in early 2020.
  9. Back in 2016 we did a 14 day Canada and New England cruise that could also be split into two 7 day cruises. Because we booked it as a single 14 day cruise our account stayed the same. The only thing we could not do was book shore excursions for the second leg until it started. I noticed that shortly after our cruise NCL stopped the practice of doing the 14 day cruise as a single cruise. BTW the way the cruise showed up on the app was scary as it showed the itinerary for one leg with the start date of the other leg and other irregularites.
  10. on my last three cruises we were in suites on Jewel class ships and at every restaurant (even the MDR) we had to provide a room card for them to swipe so there was no manual entry of room numbers. I do agree with the hypothesis that someone got your cabin number mixed up with another and their charges went to your account. Something that could have been taken care of at the time.
  11. Rangers come onboard for the Glacier Bay cruising day. I have not heard of blankets and hot cocoa - except possibly in the haven. I also believe that both Princess and HAL have guest speakers onboard for their enrichment programs. HAL used to offer split pea soup in Glacier Bay.
  12. Anybody doing or have done the Authentic Alaska SB cruisetour? We are going late June 23. I just noticed that our date has disappeared from the NCL website. Does this mean the tour is sold out?
  13. We were on the Dawn in 2016 in a 2 bdrm suite - had a great 14 days Bos to Quebec and back. Loved Jozsy and Patti - saw thier show in the atrium lounge almost every night. She was refurbished in 16 and was very nicely appointed in neutral tones. I did miss the forward lounge area that are on the Jewel class ships - lack of a Haven is no deal to us - all suites get to eat breakfast and lunch in Modernaro/Cagneys (as long as you are up early enough) a couple of times we slept in and found breakfast at O'Sheehans which served it until 11:00. Being older we enjoy the Jewel class ships and find them quite easy to get around on.
  14. Nothing new the second guest free is handled as 50% off total fare.
  15. When we visited both Portland and St John's we had the most excellent tours by hiring private taxis that also hire out as tour guides on ship days. We were able to spend as much time as we wanted in all the hot spots - in Portland we even got to do some items that were specific to our interests. Also coming from the other Portland we had to see our town's namesake and all it had to offer!.
  16. I would go with a 2 br suite - two bedrooms two bathrooms and three overall spaces to hang out.
  17. Here is another article on the issue Jury Awards Norwegian $159M in Damages From Azipod Dispute with ABB (maritime-executive.com). I appears that the older pods are still installed on some of NCLs fleet while newer ships have newer designed pods.
  18. I suspect that the aft suites on deck 8 would be the first to not recieve butler services as decks 9 and 10 have owners suites in the forward portion of the ship and nothing on deck 8. I have not cruised in a suite since spring of 2020 - prior to the new catagories being formed.
  19. I started crusing back when the only way you could book one was through a TA. So I found one that i liked and we became good friends. He has long since closed his brick and mortar shop and now works from his home. Now days I either call him to book, or book online with NCL and then transfer the booking to him. I pay the same price but he gets a cut and is now my link to NCL if I need to make any changes. So he gets to spend the time on the phone with NCL.
  20. which cruise line? what is the itineary? you will be flying into Anchorage - take the train to Whittier you will not regret it.
  21. I would suggest that you do excursions that interest you - each port has different things they are known for but there are also excursions for every interest in any of them. Juneau is known for Mendenhall Glacier and whale watching - it also has some gold mining. Skagway is known for being a gold rush town - you can visit an old dredge, ride the White Pass RR or just walk around town and take in the history. In Victoria you can take a romantic horse drawn carrage ride, do a pub crawl, and if you have lots of time - visit the Buchart Gardens - they are great even at night. Havent been to Sitka so no reccomendations there. Good luck and enjoy your cruise.
  22. We were in a deck 10 penthouse and stayed in the cabin for most of the passage.
  23. It also depends on the attitude of the child - if they require lots of entertainment then the Sun is probably not a good choice, however if they like watching for wildlife and scenery then almost any ship will do.
  24. on our 21 day cruise we were allowed one bag per person per week.
