My only cruise to Alaska was with Disney (with my kids who went in the water in the outdoor pool.) I don’t know if Celebrity will have them open, but I wouldn’t discount outdoor swimming if she’s really into it. Temps could also be warmer than expected (or colder) hard to predict this far out. Our plan if the weather is nice in Seattle is to have embarkation day be a pool day for sure.

I literally was typing something similar. I sm sure there are standard protocols, but any situation has its own nuances and actions taken.

These make me laugh…I am a steerage girl as well…not a chance I could shift suites regularly so I’m not inclined to even try it out. This will be DHs first cruise this summer (later in life marriage) and I am sooooo hoping for a good experience. He is extremely social and I actually want a set dining time/servers instead of anytime because I think he’ll love having the sane person and getting to know them. On a positive note, he really has no basis to know whether the service is celebrity level or not and our next cruise is on Silhouette so the first two experiences will likely be different anyway, albeit both in steerage. 😂

Yes did this recently as I wanted the bed in the middle of the room which I didn’t know when I booked. I called after doing a “fake booking” so I had a sense of what I wanted and what was available. I had no issues switching.

That’s what I’ve done before but figure we have hotel points so staying is “free” so outside of food a beach/pool day before the cruise can’t hurt.

We are sailing out of FLL next Aoril for spring break (Easter week) and I’m actually debating flying in 2 days before embarkation just in case…figure wurst case scenario we would be able to drive the 25 hrs. lol. Seriously, I have heard a lot of stories this year of canceled flights that I’m trying to think proactively.

Agreed…the port pictures are the best…rugged, raw, and real…best of the bunch as far as I’m concerned.

That is crazy but we do that too to save $ and allocate it to other things.

Yep I actually am thinking I might be able to stick it in my case…I’m going to try with my work ID or a credit card…it pops off easily enough.

Thank you everyone! I’m going to make sure I have pocketed bottoms because that makes more sense. It’s Alaska, so long pants most likely most days on the ship anyway. I really appreciate the input and the fact that I am not missing something.

This is probably a silly question but I’d like to be prepared…haven’t sailed since before Covid so not sure what to expect. Does everyone still bring lanyards for their sea pass? I have to wear a lanyard for work and I cannot stand it around my neck abc I want to forget work when I am on vacation? I have lanyards I bought for a cruise that ended up canceled due to Covid so I can easily bring them, I just want to know the feasibility of not using it. What other options might I have? FYI…I am not a purse/bag girl either. 🙂

I took my kids on the Summit to Bermuda (and Alaska on Disney Wonder the year prior to that and Wonder didn’t have crazy amenities either) at that age and had no issues whatsoever. Mine weren’t club kids either but enjoyed just hanging around. I think it all depends on your kids and whether they enjoy just doing their own thing. One way I’ve made more adults more enjoyable for kids is giving them some ownership like each gets to plan one port day within a prescribed budget or each gets to plan a sea day for the family.
