  1. In prior years we have disembarked a West Coast cruise (LA to Vancouver) is Victoria. It is not a violation and Celebrity charged us for "additional customs charges " the first time. The second time we simply disembarked and got a naughty letter. (We often summer near Victoria). Today as others have said disembarking early is not permitted by either Canada or the cruiselines because of covid protocols - the info stated by Canada CBP in Port of Victoria early this month.
  2. Interesting comments. Our last B2B would have been about $800 for laundry paying by the piece. 29 days. Would rather spend that $$ elsewhere. Putting out laundry on your veranda is both stupid - it blows away - and violates the rules of every cruisline I am aware. Celebrity as said does just fine for indestructible items but anything that will fade or shrink in a steam laundry IMO needs to be done by hand. The laundry on board is germ free, but my cotton polo shirts tend to turn from dark blue to faded and my jeans both shrink and fade. DW sadly had delicate tops get two sizes smaller. Better suited for doll clothes. And yes I have things dry cleaned and send out laundry using my elite benefit. Everyone is different. How clothes are cleaned is a personal decision as long as it is not hung on your balcony.
  3. Unless Celebrity has a solo/single fare, a single cruiser pays pretty much the same fare as a couple. That is their policy.
  4. Highly suggest a piece of tape with your cabin number in Sharpie marker. The paper tags are not very good. If you have your edocs you have your tags. Look on page 364! (LOL)
  5. Not exactly equivalent, but the highest reciprocal status is Elite on Celebrity or Diamond on RCL. The laundry benefit is great. The others not so much unless you have a cruise only fare.
  6. The best deal is a suction hook and cord from Harbor Freight or others. A bit of shampoo in the sink gives a pretty good wash. Rinse twice and rollup in a bath towel. Hang to dry overnight. Lightweight blouses and synthetics hang almost wrinkle free. Just a thought that will sound better after you see the price to wash a pair of socks.
  7. Oceania is a completely different experience. The smaller ship changes almost everything.
  8. It requires only a request from one cruiser to sign up. So it could certainly be organized as a surprise.
  9. It is a completely different issue. Probably should have highlighted LAND TOUR. Pretty much nothing required for the land tour, BUT one then needs a proctored test to board. LAND TOURS ARE NOT PART OF ANY CDC AGREEMENT AND DO NOT INVOLVE CRUISESHIPS. THUS NO MONITORED TESTING REQUIRED. ANY government approved test can be used for boarding and any proctoring service. Emed is not necessary. The free tests for US and Canada (for example) and Rapid Test and Trace or any other company work fine using a phone OR one certainly can go to a testing center.
  10. They simply removed them from prebooking options. Specialty dining packages often have not been available for prebooking when they can sell on board at fill price.
  11. AI was a marketing tool. Nothing more and nothing less. When X got blowback and demand was weak for some months they offered choices. Duh! To fill cabins. As for LocalLUX, strange term new to me, but resident and special rates never went away. Had a resident rate booked for this winter on a Mexican cruise out of LA. Find an itinerary you like with a cabin that makes you happy and a fare that works for you and book. Pretty simple.
  12. When we missed our Princess Cruise out of San Juan, American put us up in a hotel (was a really awful hotel), flew us to Barbados the following day, got us cleared thru Barbados customs after 4 hours and a shuttle to the Barbados Hilton. Finally arrived on board the following day.
  13. Wondering which website you are referring? UK? US? Also whether mobile or regular? All of them have issues at times which is why we use a TA and them sort the weird issues. IWe bring a printed copy of my booking both from X and my TA. With that proof in hand seems not worth stressing. Guess it is good the billing is different system.
  14. Think the OP is looking for a description. On that deck you simply cannot look straight down. Need to look out past the lifeboats. Magic carpet discussed in several threads. Mostly no problem at all. A few said it was disruptive.
  15. The only shoes my DW owns are Birkenstocks. I wear black or brown Birkenstocks to dinner - with socks. Nobody really cares what you wear for shoes. Lots of beach type shoes. Just no bare feet.
  16. Same as Apex and Edge. Lots of reviews and pictures there.
  17. And they send reminders to for my Christmas Millenium Panama Canal cruise. X cancelled it months ago. Far easier to get a copy of your booking from your TA. It will show what you have booked and any extras provided by your TA. OBC or extras from your TA will NOT show until about 24 hours after you board.
  18. Generally part of deck 6 for quarantine but depends on the number. Have not seen first hand reports of anything but verandas used for quarantine in months EXCEPT two cruises that were basically sold out. The Sky lounge bar is open. It is used for lots of activities, but certainly has quiet spots. Trivia does not use the entire area for example.
  19. Giving CSRs more "power" now would be insanity. With the personnel issues they have half have not completed stage 1 of training.
  20. Do not understand the OP. The passport did not expire until next year. The OP decided for reasons they decided not to disclose to renew in April. At that time I was in Canada and note two things - there were reports of huge backups in passport renewals AND friends renewed their passports in a week using the expedited services in BC. Hmmm. Last doesn't Ontario have enhanced drivers licenses? They work just fine for the US and are issued on the spot. Last, would the OP clarify two dates please? When did you book the cruise? When did you send off you passport? Am confused. . .
  21. Easy to understand as the banner at the top of the website says no testing to fly to the US. Many people will never read beyond the testing not required part.
  22. Also be absolutely positive you have the credit card used to check in on the app in your hand at the pier. I checked us in using my card. DW was with the rest of our group. Her card had a different number. Took about 20 minutes to sort. She had to check in again from the beginning and then I had to sort out the mess on board.
  23. At the very top of Celebrity forum go to cruise reviews. Lots of reviews of people on each ship. Edge and Apex have people who love them and people who don't. The infinite veranda being controversial.
