  1. Yes. Even when it's part of a prepaid package and is "free" ($0.00 on the receipt)
  2. Yeah that's the problem. The jets interest too many folks. There were about 8,000 people on that tiny beach on December 7. It was impossible to move on the beach. If you must see a plane land, look up the day's schedule, show up 20 minutes early (because that's how long it will take you to park and walk), watch the plane, then get outta there. Oh and take $1 bills for the bathroom.
  3. Ah, well I don't drink the frozen drinks, so there's the difference. I've never had a problem with classic cocktails, martinis and the like. Alchemy will give you some serious bang for the buck.
  4. This ^^^^ Also, if you've got family that you trust who still write checks for their bills, pay theirs too and have them give you the cash. I paid my elder Dad's utilities, insurance and medical bills for years before he passed. It was a win-win - he didn't have to worry about bills getting paid and I got all the points for running those bills through my credit cards. Good times.
  5. Oh God yes. I can't imagine how much college age dumbassity will be in the Amber Cove pool in March. @kctwinmommy the zip line is $20/person for people not in a cabana. For someone who really likes to Zipline a lot, it might be better to rent a cabana, as it includes unlimited Zipline.
  6. Yup, believe it. THREE pieces! But that's not the worst... I used to be able to get pizza cut in 8 pieces, but now they only cut them in four so I only get half as much pizza. These are the kinds of cutbacks, like the three-cut-thigh, that everyone has had enough of - when will it end?
  7. Huh. You must have angry bartenders because that has never, ever been my experience in 18, now 19 years of cruising on Carnival.
  8. You've described Amber Cove perfectly. Literally steps from the ship is a nice pool with a swim up bar, acres of highly available loungers to flop down in and just chill out or read or whatever, a DJ or band, and a handful of shops. Food and drinks are a la carte purchases, but use of the area is absolutely free unless you want a cabana (over water or poolside). It's the best free "excursion" you'll find anywhere. Meanwhile, while Sint Maarten is a beautiful island (my favorite, actually), the cruise terminal is in a short of industrial area and you'll need to get transportation to get to a decent beach or resort. At Amber Cove, it's right there for you. Edit: there are some other activities at Amber Cove that cost money (like a zip line), but there's no need to do all that if you just want to chill.
  9. Again, someone else owns the car. They get to make the rules. C'est la vie. 🤷
  10. Interesting. I don't think I've ever seen "leftovers" on the buffet.
  11. Well he can buy his own car, right? But if someone else owns the car (say, Avis or Hertz), they're perfectly within their rights making their rules. Maybe you should right this wrong by buying up a bunch of cars and renting them to a bunch of 19-year-olds. What could go wrong?
  12. But the simple fact that they ARE raising prices means they haven't reached equilibrium yet. Who knows where it will stabilize? Not you, and not me. But - I assure you they're not done raising prices yet (specifically on WiFi). And the hell of a service like Wi-Fi is that the incremental cost of supply is essentially zero (little to no COGS), so as long as demand exists, the sky is the limit for price. Don't believe me? Ask the people in the DC area that have created so much demand for traffic relief that they're willing to pay a $40 toll for 15 miles of road. How much do you think today's young people are willing to pay for internet access?
  13. Probably, yes, and yes, in that order. The lobster tails in the MDR are tiny, more like langoustine size. And as for the filet, the steakhouse will cook it the way you like, usually correctly. The MDR is hit or miss on temperature, and can be anywhere from blue on the inside to pretty well done.
  14. The ships are going to be so much quieter and less crowded with all you people having palpitations over $1.50/person/day not sailing anymore. Can't wait! P.S. - everything is supply and demand. The reason they raise prices is because there's enough demand that people will pay them. All you middle-aged people out there that are appalled by the skyrocketing costs of Wi-Fi packages can largely blame yourselves for raising an entire generation now of kids who can't live without it. There will be more increases and the addicts will keep paying it 😆
  15. Had that problem last month on the Spirit. People kept showing up in the dining room trying to order things from the following day's menu. "What do you mean there's no alligator beignets tonight??!!?"
  16. I think if you go back and read what I wrote you'll find I never said it was a "good idea". I specifically said "ALWAYS have a BC to back it up". As in it's not optional.
  17. The three point molly still has a better return over a longer stretch of play. Don't take my word for it, though. Run a simulation. Sure, with your method if you hit on the first roll you're taking the $36 profit on the place bet plus removing $18 from each bet (which actually makes you $12 up (not 11) with $24 in play). But one in every six times you start anew, you'll seven out and lose the whole 60. The odds are still the only bet that pays true with no house edge (0%), even if they're only 2x. Pass line with 2x odds has a house edge of 0.6%, while 6/8 place bets give the house 1.52%. Math doesn't lie, those place bets WILL lose 2.5x as much money. Guaranteed. Now you may have more fun with your place bets, but there's no way to mathematically calculate that.
  18. If you plan to travel with a DL, always have a birth certificate to back it up. And tell your first time cruising friends that a passport is always the safer option 😉
  19. I think you MIGHT find that the amount of activity on the ship has a little more to do with the itinerary and passenger demographics than you think. I hope not, but you might find that the "younger crowd with a little more nightlife" doesn't materialize on an Alaska itinerary.
  20. As many others have already said, smaller ships make for much better scenery in Alaska. If you sail to Alaska, go there for the natural wonders. Don't let the lack of a mediocre hamburger stop you.
  21. At the moment, no, because there aren't any out there.
  22. At the moment, no, because there aren't any out there.
  23. I literally posted this 16 hours before you "checked several times". You do realize that these offers don't exist all the time, right? I see them maybe once or twice a month. "Clearly" you need to be more patient.
