  1. I believe these problems have come to haunt a couple of generations of people who never used or were told the word "no". The kids never called the shots in our house.
  2. Probably that mainstream cruiser, not our kind dear type.
  3. The video that I saw was of a couple of jerks fighting, a large woman offering perhaps a cocktail and a crew member with a radio appearing to do nothing. As a barmaid for 20 years... a surprise pitcher of ice water and a couple of guys to yank them apart. There seemed to be a lot of men standing around watching. Has anybody ever seen a bar fight? Maybe in college? Common sense didn't kick in? Has Regent said anything about how this should have been handled? Confounding.
  4. What's in the road ahead?......What's in the road, a head?
  5. There's that undertone again. I agree pappy. It comes across as a "not our kind, dear" sort of feeling.
  6. Thank you Pcardad for your interesting observations. I am glad to learn about some of these things as a stockholder. I hope this CC board does not go back to the way it was awhile ago when so many discussion topics turned into a battle.
  7. Thank you Taxare for your thoughtful suggestion. At this point we prefer to not fly coach anymore. I still feel that the marketing materials are somewhat nebulous about the luxury experience with included flights. As an aside, pre virus, I remember Barbados airport as being a real PITA. We did 2 Silverseas cruises out of Barbados and the congestion was pretty intense.
  8. Unrivaled luxury is not coach/economy no matter how you want to mix it up.
  9. This is what is becoming concerning to us. We already are not getting biz class domestically which I find annoying but now the Caribbean is domestic from n.y.? Not to me it isn't.
  10. I would also like to ask... is it true....being that it is out of usa...that business class is not included? I thought our last cruise a couple of years ago had business included. We had been considering this same cruise and the air thing is not what we thought it was.
  11. From a legal, health and sanitation standpoint, I'm quite sure that a ship would not be allowed to sail without toilet paper, towels and available food and also qualified crew to run the ship. For some people the idea of an upscale floating retirement home may sound appealing but what if besides the scale back of free or included excursions and lots of missed ports. the availability of booze and gourmet food and other onboard expected free items disappeared? Would that still be workable for many? I think not. People buy in to the whole advertised package and assume that they can pick and choose the amenities that are relevant for them.
  12. The free flats wre set out near the entrance. Absolutely not part of any special sale. Just a pleasant surprise..
  13. It is absolutely different. Yesterday I went to the local nursery to get a couple of plants.. After checkout, the owner mentioned that they were stocked to the rafters with unsold viola flats. Would I like to take one? I was delighted and that was free. It was a nice surprise bonus. Is the flip side here that cruisers should be delighted and surprised if they happened to buy a cruise and once onboard they might be giving away free excursions? Or not? I did not go to the farm expecting anything other than the plants that I came for. Pappy is spot on.
  14. What about the couple that brings along the cutesy bunch of stuffed animals and puts them on the tables! Staff gets pictures taken with them all the time. You just can't avoid every germ.
  15. I agree with you. I will add that over the past year or more this board has been interesting, informative and useful without the incessant cheerleading that it had become. We like to hear different comments and decide for ourselves whether something is troublesome or important to us from a variety of opinions.
  16. The first thing that we do after boarding is to get that days medication and take it before leaving the dock. It's pre packaged in little envelopes and is what the staff uses. I have been told that if you have ever been seasick you might never want to cruise again so we take a proactive approach and have never had a problem. They give it to you at the reception desk and we find it totally non-drowsy.
  17. Could this be a rather slow and passive/ aggressive marketing approach to appeal to a younger and less sedentary demographic? I'm not quite understanding why there are so may problems. We do not use the excursions. Are the Regent premium pay situations any better?
  18. Wow..I think we will take your advice. We had a Bermuda cruise planned that got dropped due to the whole covid/wuhan thing. Fast forward with another booked. Will the fashion police be morphing into a laundry police monitoring group? I think we'll stick with Regent and Silversea..Are bunny ears a fashion statement?
  19. Meanwhile, the "other" group is raving about how fantastic the destination people are because they retrieved a lost phone. I agree that the GM should be informed of this debacle.
  20. I wouldn't rush a final payment unless this is clarified. It wouldn't work for us. Very disappointing.
  21. I find this often mentioned analogy offensive. It seems to me that when derision is aimed at non "luxury" lines, in reality it is more like a "not our kind, dear" type of comment. I was always taught that money doesn't know who owns it. I had thought that this CC board had gotten over this theme the past couple of years.
