  1. @Travel R Are you starting a new thread when leave home for the ship and how long until you sail?
  2. We had an outage of 12 hours. Some areas near us are still without, close to 48 hours. I can attest, it has been like this with Lisa’s cough. I can’t exactly same the same for me as I’m not 100% sure which is allergies VS Covid.
  3. We are headed to the Jays game this afternoon, 1:30 start. Left field seats, first row above the bull pen. Pics to come.
  4. Very interesting reading. I only heard about the tornado on the weather network but that had to have been before analysts had viewed the damage. From the photos I’ve seen from Ottawa it looked rough. Hopefully you didn’t have serious damage.
  5. There was a wicked storm that rolled through the province this morning. There are still thousands of people without power, there was a tornado near Ottawa and unfortunately two people passed away from sustained injuries. The generators are still running at all three houses here with no idea when power will come back on. Thankfully it wasn’t worse as we only have one large tree limb down on the farms. I’ll move it with the tractor when the time is right.
  6. I shut the heating units off in the garage a month ago and today when we were shuffling around summer cars it got a stuffy inside. It is exceptionally humid and hot here today. It’s 81 and feels like 88 at the moment. I’m a bit excited because I turned on the new AC units which are in each of the 3 bays for the first time ever. They were installed last fall so I’m interested to get to finally use it and see how well it works. Be careful out there in the heat. It can take a toll.
  7. We usually have a 2-4 weeks in the spring where we don’t have either on. Unfortunately with bad allergies at the same time we keep the windows closed. We do have a fresh air intake that runs through a filter so we can still bring in fresh air and my nose, eyes and throat are OK. More often than not we go from winter to AC with little time in between. The fall is an easier transition from hot to cooler weather. We might not have either run for a solid month or more.
  8. What have we learned from all of this. When you cruise during a pandemic you take calculated risks. When you do a B2B during a pandemic you take calculated risks. When you leave your home during a pandemic you take calculated risks. When you see others during a pandemic you take calculated risks. Don't want to increase your chance go getting Covid, don't leave your home during a pandemic especially for a cruise. If you are good with calculated risks, then go about your way. If you happen to get Covid from your actions, those are the risks you take. Natural immunity, with or without vaccines is still the best form of immunity.
  9. This is something we always do late April or early May. I always figure it’s better to know that the AC is working then to find out later that it isn’t. especially these last few years with shortages of everything. Soul sisters to Lucy, except she sleeps all day but is out all night.
  10. They might be in the cabin before the end of the first cruise, unless it is a short 3/4 night sailing. Perhaps RC should just cancel all B2B sailings to limit the risk. However, it is what the guests have willingly booked and paid for during a pandemic. That rests on the guests shoulders. It was the guest's calculated risk and given the option I suspect most of them would roll the dice and take the B2B.
  11. Omicron hit North America in December of 2021 as well. These new variants today are still Omicron variants, only more contagious and some changed symptoms. I have been following Dr John Campbell from England and he is very thorough on his talks about the pandemic. I’ve learned a lot about England, Scotland, and Ireland relating to the pandemic as well as the rest of the world. You might enjoy his daily videos on YouTube. Yesterday he talked Monkey Pox and the few cases currently in England. We too followed the protocols established by our provincial authority. We actually didn’t see anyone for 10 days, which is longer than our mandated regulations because of how we felt.
  12. I don’t even have the words to express the sadness I feel reading this. I think I can safely say, for everyone here, that we wish we could wrap you in our arms.
  13. This is the discussion that I have with my mother in-law. I keep pointing out to her that just because the people that she know “act safely”, it doesn’t mean that they can’t infect her. It just takes one slip and then they are infected, in turn getting my MIL. Was I proud that I didn’t get it for 2.5 years, yes. That being said it was inevitable and I am happy that it was Omicron and not the Delta variant. It is what it is, and going about in the local community or with travel further from home it is all a calculated risk. Shy of never leaving one’s home and never seeing anyone is about the only way of escaping Covid. The severity of Covid today compared to 1.5 years ago is substantially lessened for the vast majority of the population. Unfortunately even with the lessened severity there are still some that will succumb to it which is heartbreaking.
  14. Yesterday when we were getting the mail we spotted something in the ditch. We took a stroll and look what we found enjoying the sun. I figure he/she was migrating from one pond to another, possibly for spring mating?🤷‍♂️ There is 3/4 mile between the two nearest ones. I have seen a turtle in the same area over the years at the same time of the season. It didn’t seem to phased by us as we took some photos. It’s shell was about 14” long and a bit narrower. When we left it just remained sunning itself. An hour later it was gone. It has not taken residence at our pool, at least not yet. I’m not sure how old it would be but judging by its size it has to be old.
