  1. The problem is that only about 1% or less of cruisers are Cruise Critic members, so you would not be getting a true picture. Also, the people who don’t want it are very vociferous compared to those who do. I would say that once you board, you may get a better picture. To be honest, I’ve never been interested in the numbers, for or against. I just do my own thing and let others do theirs.
  2. We always stay at Pan Pacific, which is directly above the cruise terminal, so no transfers needed. We purchase the rate for the precruise package. It includes your room, buffet breakfast (the restaurant is gorgeous and looks out over the harbour and very likely you can see your ship) and the transfer of your luggage from your hotel room to your cabin on the ship. Many lovely restaurants in the area and lots to see in Vancouver. You must go to Stanley Park! I won’t lie, it’s not inexpensive at Pan Pacific nor are restaurants in Vancouver, but it is an outstanding embarkation port. You can arrange this yourself without the Princess package for a lot less money.
  3. Please look into this again. The problem is with the terminology used by Princess. There is the Plus and Premier package cruise fare, which includes drinks, wifi, gratuities and other stuff as outlined by Princess. This fare must be paid by both cabin occupants. You can buy these packages onboard, with all the inclusions and must be purchased by both, However, you can also purchase onboard the Plus and Premier beverage package, which is for drinks only and with no inclusions. This can be purchased by one person in the cabin. Unfortunately, the cost of the beverage package on its own is comparable to the cost of the inclusive Plus and Premier packages. The difference is that not everyone in your cabin needs to purchase it. It can get very confusing, so I apologize if I haven’t made it crystal clear. @Steelers36 did a great job recently breaking this down and he said it much better than I did.
  4. Flat irons are what Princess refers to as the irons used for clothes. I know because I asked them onboard. Flat irons for hair are considered curling irons to Princess and they are allowed. I take mine all the time on all cruiselines.
  5. Yes, and curling irons. I take both and never questioned or taken away. Our cabin stewards see them on the bathroom shelf and never say a word.
  6. We’ve sailed, with many different cruiselines, 38 Caribbean cruises. Then a few years ago we retired and sailed to the Mediterranean and then we sailed the Norwegian fjords and then Europe. We’ve never been back to the Caribbean and we have no interest to do so. Be warned, once you sail longer, port intensive cruises, you’ll be hooked! We’ve sailed two TAs on HAL and loved them both. Do everything they offer each day or do nothing, it’s up to you. We were never bored! Have a wonderful cruise!
  7. I’m always surprised that someone would actually post such a ridiculous and biased opinion. It’s also just plain rude. My question to you is how do you know so much about HAL and Princess? Clearly you’ve chosen to cruise with them. If “the vibe” is so awful why aren’t you sailing on Carnival? Perhaps you have embellished your story to suit your narrative. I think you just enjoy stirring the pot. Sorry, fail. We don’t care.
  8. Most of us have had this experience more than once, and for some of us, many times. Yes, it’s disappointing, but you feel much better immediately booking another one.lol
  9. RCI attracts a younger crowd who enjoy all the bells and whistles in the outdoor areas found on their ships. Celebrity is somewhat younger, but no “stuff” like RCI. Princess and HAL have an older crowd and still no “stuff”. Carnival and NCL also attract younger people and they have lots of “stuff” around the pools and outdoor areas.
  10. Celebrity does this so well! My niece had an engagement party arranged for her on Edge a few years ago. She was thrilled with the results and her photos were beautiful.
  11. Exactly why we have a CVP with whom we have had great success over many years in doing cancellations, refaring, and any other changes or additions to our booking. Never sit on hold, never talk to inexperienced agents or to agents who are difficult to understand. I can’t imagine booking a cruise without her.
  12. OP was asking about Regal and post #6 gives correct info for that ship
  13. Thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts. We’re booked on Enchanted Princess doing the same itinerary in 2024. Good job!
  14. You should be able to book dining reservations now. Have you tried deleting the app and starting over? You can also go to the Princess website and there is a link to use an online version of the app. We have had no problems with the app, both booking MDR reservations and specialty restaurants. The app is wonky for sure. Works great for some and not so much for others. Booking onboard is hit and miss. You may be able to get the times you want, but maybe not. Specialty restaurants tend to book up very fast and some may have very little availability when you board, you just never know. I would try to get the app working. It may take a few tries. Good luck.
  15. We just booked our two complimentary dinners at Rudi’s The Catch on Enchanted using the app. We also booked a third one and paid for it also on the app. Disappointed in Sabatini’s last time and CG is becoming same old, same old.
  16. Welcome to Cruise Critic and your first post! Once you board, you’ll find a number of things in your cabin for you to peruse. The Princess Daily Event Planner, aka Princess Patter, will give you lots of information about things going on around the ship, including the dining venues and hours of operation. Regal is a great ship and I hope you enjoy your cruise!
  17. I can certainly see why they would want to use your photos! They’re awesome!
  18. Agree 100%. My DH refuses to eat in there. We do drop in from time to time to make up bowls of fresh fruit to snack on in our cabin. Occasionally they even have berries. I can always get berries in the MDR.
  19. Same with us. Never had a problem with food or service, always enjoyable. Just walking by the buffet and seeing all those people wandering around with their plates looking for tables and the constant noise is enough to put us off eating.
  20. Wow! You didn’t tell us you were a model! Simply gorgeous and elegant and classy….lovely wedding. Thank you for sharing your pics of your very special day.
  21. These cabins are about 1/3 or more covered by an overhang, which in itself is larger than a standard balcony. The rest is open. Fabulous viewing for Alaska.
  22. The railing and wall at the front of the balcony is metal instead of plexiglass, so sitting down near the sliding door would only give you a distant view of the water. You would need to stand up to see below you. These balconies hold probably 12 people easily! Please go to YouTube and search obstructed deluxe balconies. Try all Royal class ships: Royal, Regal, Majestic, Enchanted, Discovery, Sky. These cabins are the same. Now, you have to keep in mind your location. You will feel more motion up front and it can get quite windy by the railing while at sea. If you sit farther back towards the door, it’s fine. When docked its is a perfect mix of both sun and shady areas. You will also have to turn off the balcony lights in the evening because it impacts the view from the bridge. These are great cabins for adults to be able to stretch out on the balcony and still be able to sleep three. We also love Lido deck and its proximity to the the pool and buffet. It’s also super quiet! Good luck! Any questions, I’d be happy to answer.
  23. The sofa bed in the deluxe balcony is really meant for a child, a teen or small adult. My husband is smaller then this gentleman and he would definitely be cramped. Yes, smaller than a twin. It does not pull out into a full bed like a standard sofa bed would. I’m assuming you are three adults in the cabin. This would be a bit tight for my liking but some folks clearly make it work. With that many adults would you consider the far forward obstructed balconies on Lido and Marina deck? Huge balconies that would have three chairs and a large dining table. L101 and L102 are super large balconies and it would give you basically another room. We’ve sailed in these cabins many times and love them. Just a thought.
