  1. We both have the same as you! We don’t eat red meat, but the salmon is lovely!
  2. Seems we’re all in the same boat, literally. My CVP is wonderful and I don’t want to book or make changes with anyone else. I also don’t want to miss an opportunity to refare or book a new cruise should it be on a Saturday or Sunday. I guess I’ll just send her an email and voice mail and wait until Monday. This is not good! Why would Princess do this?
  3. Congratulations! Our CVP is also a gem. She calls just to talk and ask about the dogs and such. The absolute best service you could ask for. Wish I could share her, but alas……..
  4. Thank you, your comparison is quite valid. My biggest objection to the buffet, at any meal, is the noise and the large number of people using the same serving utensils over and over. Also, when there is a lot of people coming and going, the waitstaff don’t always have time to thoroughly clean the tables between the old and the new set of people. It is not their fault by any means. I guess because of my profession, I’m accustomed to a very clean environment and very limited cross contamination of germs. When I’m in a buffet I see so much of what I would never have tolerated. If people enjoy it and have no qualms eating there, then more power to them. Best part of cruising is the choices we all have.
  5. Funny, thanks for the smile!
  6. Wow, I had no idea. Thankfully I have a CVP to to that. Thanks for the heads up!
  7. Aww, used to enjoy those little vases with just one or two flowers. Made it special,
  8. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on your TA. We love these sailings, too. We also sail with Celebrity and HAL. Both a very nice. I had to smile when I saw you stayed on Moxy Hotel in Southampton. Our favourite hotel! The included breakfast is terrific and so close to the mall. I’ve done lots of shopping there! Down the street is a large Boots pharmacy where I stock up with their line of cosmetics. Thanks for bringing back some great memories!
  9. We just don’t enjoy buffets. Too noisy, too crowded, too difficult to find a table and the food is not appealing to us. Breakfast in the MDR is lovely. Serenity is the best word. Food is hot and fresh. The table is clean with fresh linens and usually a small vase of flowers. The wait staff spoils us by bringing us little extras to try out. It’s so worth getting up early. Love, love it! My second choice would be IC, but we rarely go for breakfast. Again, trying to find a seat can be challenging. Good food, though.
  10. We’ve never been on a Princess TA (we do have Majestic booked for 2025) but sailed on a few with HAL and Celebrity. We love them! You can be busy with lots of activities or do nothing, your choice. The one thing we won’t sacrifice on a TA is cabin comfort. We choose a cabin that will suit us for the entire trip and request no upgrades. I couldn’t do an inside cabin. That’s just me, though. Enjoy your cruise!
  11. Yes, a moderator merged the two. You could ask for your thread to be deleted, but I don’t know if it’s possible.
  12. Sorry, but if you go to any land based bar, lounge or restaurant you’ll find exactly the same prices or higher……they certainly are higher here. If you never dine out or never go out for drinks, especially in a large city, then I understand why you think the prices on Princess are excessive. In Toronto, or any big city, 15 alcoholic drinks, not beer, would cost about $300.00 plus tax, plus tip. Premier package is $60.00 which includes 15 alcoholic beverages, specialty coffees, water, juice, wifi, tips, casual dining, specialty dining, room service, silly desserts, exercise classes and some other stuff. Still seem excessive to you? I don’t think so. If any establishment in any city offered all that for $60.00 per person per day, the lineup would be miles long. It’s all about perspective. Don’t buy the popcorn at the movie theatre. $10.00 for $0.10 worth of popcorn. Now, that’s excessive!
  13. Nobody should feel the need to justify their personal choices. I really do not care how much profit Princess makes on the price of alcohol or the Plus or Premier. I want a package. Someone else doesn’t, well that’s fine with me. I don’t try to push it on anyone or implore them to justify their choice. I don’t ask them to show us their math to prove it’s not right for them. This has become the most ridiculous topic on Cruise Critic.
  14. I’m thinking these folks must not have had the pleasure of visiting Las Vegas and one of the strip hotels. Makes a Princess casino look like a living room penny poker game. We also get casino rates from HAL and Princess and yes, we appreciate it. Live and let live. Now, we can expect the lectures about the evils of gambling. lol
  15. Love your attitude! I will gladly join you in the casino, my other guilty pleasure.
  16. In Toronto a nice cocktail is over $20.00 per drink. If you want really fancy with a show then you double that. My point is that all establishments selling alcoholic beverages make loads of profit. If Princess were giving it away any less expensive, then cruise fares would go through the roof. Non drinkers should appreciate that the rest of us are keeping your cruise fares affordable. You’re welcome.
  17. Very, very well said. Although, I believe we are hitting our heads on a brick wall trying to reason with some people. When we say “do the math” not everyone is capable. They actually believe you have to consume 15 alcoholic beverages per day to break even! Somebody’s not doing the math! lol
  18. In mid August we had to cancel our British Isles cruise for September 5th because our dog became seriously ill and needed emergency surgery. We had purchased the Princess protection (Platinum level due to our loyalty status) because we liked the CFAR option. I cancelled and within three days received our refund to our credit card for excursions, our deposit, etc. and in four days we received our FCC for 100% of our cruise fare. Very prompt. To be clear, I called our CVP and she took care of that and we took care of our dog. We were happy in the knowledge that we didn’t have to talk to an agent who we didn’t know or have wait on hold. So, for us the Princess coverage was well worth the money.
  19. I hear you, but I don’t think the b2b guests should have it all their way. This way second leg guests have zero chance, or close to it, of securing any spot. Surly, there must be a more fair way to give everyone an opportunity. Guests on the second leg are out of luck before they even board. They paid for their cruise, too.
  20. I think 50% go to the b2b guests, first come first serve, and the same to newly boarding guests. Not perfect, by any means, but it’s nice to know you at least have a chance.
  21. Oh my, that sounds awful! I wonder why the beds on Discovery haven’t been upgraded if passengers are finding them so uncomfortable. Nothing is worse than a bad mattress, especially on vacation. Perhaps Princess will do it if enough people complain.
