  1. And, you are post #5 in this thread. I guess we should ignore it since it’s “a waste of time”. Perhaps you should rethink your advice. lol
  2. We haven’t done Caribbean cruises in quite some time, but years ago we got off the ship once in Jamaica and never again. I’ve heard that things are much worse now. Sky Princess is a beautiful Royal class ship and I’m sure you will enjoy your cruise.
  3. Bon voyage! Have the absolute best time. Please have a cocktail for me!
  4. Like my friend @memoak, we would never eat dinner in the buffet for a number or reasons. We eat mostly in the specialty restaurants and occasionally in the MDR. I would rather grab something from the IC than eat in the buffet. As long as it’s self serve, we’ll pass.
  5. We sail both Celebrity and Princess. Our last Celebrity cruise was in January on Ascent. Probably one of the best cruises we’ve ever had. So, I would choose Celebrity over Princess, depending on itinerary. I don’t know if it matters to you, but on Princess smoking is allowed in the casino and it tends to waft out into the surrounding areas. Of course, Celebrity has been indoor smoke free for years. Sun Princess is not a ship I would be interested in, personally, so I can’t help you there. Good luck with whichever ship you choose.
  6. This is always a disappointment for me on Princess. We adore The Crows Nest on HAL and spend a good deal of time there.
  7. I have had the same CVP for years and she lives in Florida. She is an employee of Princess. She is a gem and we’re so lucky to have her.
  8. Run as fast as you can to deck 18 at the Sanctuary entrance, A crew member will be there to help you. Keep in mind the Sanctuary books up very quickly, so you must get on the ship as early as possible. We always try to book it for our entire cruise, but a couple of times it was fully booked when we got there. Good luck!
  9. I don’t think the OP is flying out of LHR. I thinks it’s SOU to Amsterdam.
  10. Are you flying out of SOU or LHR? This makes a huge difference in timing.
  11. Exactly why we never visit the buffet on a cruiseship or on land. The cross contamination of germs is mind boggling.
  12. Is your cruise doing an overnight embarkation in Quebec City? I ask because a 3:30 flight arrival is really cutting it close should you experience any flight delays along the way. You have connecting flights, so even more room for problems. If you’re overnight in Quebec and sail the following day, then obviously no issue. Sorry, just checked your itinerary and you are overnight in Quebec. Please disregard my post.
  13. You just made my day! Just you keeping it real. I’m still chuckling….thank you.
  14. You, my friend, have a much more sophisticated palate than I when it comes to wine. In your case, I would most definitely buy the bottle and enjoy what you like. I’ve been known to drink wine out of a jug (my university days with limited funds). When people ask what kind of wine I prefer I say pink.
  15. Take a look around this forum. This has been discussed numerous times and just the other day. Everyone knows to take masking tape if it’s an issue. Many people don’t care.
  16. I drink mostly Prosecco and Whispering Angel. Not a wine connoisseur by any means. Would never bother buying a bottle of “better” wine because I just don’t care. My DH only drinks wine at dinner and he’s not fussy, either. He prefers Scotch or Whiskey.
  17. So get what you like and just pay the small difference plus gratuity. Just. a couple of dollars. Or, move up to the Premier package if Plus doesn’t work for you. Plus works for us and most people. We had a ton of FCC for our next cruise, so moved up to Premier.
  18. Confession: I can drink Prosecco like it’s soda! Shush, don’t tell anyone. They’ll be calling me an alcoholic. lol
  19. Yes! Mimosas for breakfast are the best.
  20. And, wherever we choose to dine you and I get to enjoy our wine and after dinner cocktails! And, pre dinner cocktails. And, a lovely nightcap. Love the Plus package!
  21. Isn’t it wonderful that there is something for everyone! Thank goodness for you lovely people who enjoy the MDR because otherwise we’d never get a reservation in the other restaurants.
  22. Totally agree, Michael. For longer voyages I would definitely do a mix of both dining venues. Right now we’re unable to cruise longer than 12 to 14 days, so it works out fine. I’m a very light eater, so honestly the food is not that important, but I do enjoy a quieter more romantic atmosphere. That’s just me.
  23. Agree, the buffets are not for us, too. MDR is great, if that’s what you enjoy. We just prefer the quiet atmosphere and the elevated service you get in the specialty restaurants. The MDR at dinner is so loud and chaotic. We’ve always enjoyed our meals in the specialty restaurants and believe it’s well worth the extra cost. I love that there is something for everyone’s tastes when you’re cruising. To each their own!
