  1. On an Alaskan cruise, formal means jeans and a clean flannel shirt.
  2. Many people here have suggested getting extra keys for the rooms. I have found a solution that I think is better. This is what I have done multiple times in the past. We have shared our Diamond balcony discount with friends many times and this is how we have straightened things out once on the ship. Go to to Guest Services. DON'T ask for extra keys. Tell them who will be sleeping in which rooms and what credit card you want their on board expenses billed to. They will issue new Seapasses to everyone that needs a different card than what they were issued. You won't need to bother with extra cards.
  3. With one package and 3 devices you'll get one log in code to be shared with the 3 devices. With 3 separate packages, you'll get 3 different codes. It really doesn't make a difference. Either way you go, all 3 devices can all be logged in at the same time.
  4. I'm guessing the number is not that big. A lot of people don't care where they sit. A lot of people don't know that a request can even be made. We see threads on CC occasionally discussing how to make a request but... what percentage of cruisers know about Cruise Critic and then what percentage of those people worry about where they are going to sit?
  5. 4. Temperatures can be anywhere from 40 - 80 degrees and there is no way to predict it this far in advance. Plan on bringing layers to be prepared for any weather. Try looking at a weather app a week or two before your departure to see what the forecasted weather will be. The temperature inside the ship will be comfortable. Of course you can swim. I don't know if Ovation or Quantum have heated pools so depending on the outside temps, the water may be cool. 6. Yes, they will have formal nights but nothing is enforced. You will see people in flannel shirts in the dining room on formal night. 7. Everything in Alaska is expensive compared to most other locations. I feel the money I spent was worth it. YMMV.
  6. Read the fine print regarding your check-in time. It will say something to the effect of "arrive with your entire party at the scheduled time". If one of you has an early time, show up at that time and explain that this is your entire party. At most emabarkation ports they are not enforcing times anyway so it shouldn't be a problem.
  7. On a social media site. You have been given the name and email address of someone (at the corporate offices) that can probably help you. For some reason you choose not to contact that person but instead come here to complain that things aren't being done to your satisfaction. We give up!
  8. Don't communicate with SOMEONE. Communicate with a person that can help you. You came here asking for advice yet you seem to want to handle it in your own way. GJustice has given you good advice. Take it.
  9. If it's an individual credit, the credit only applies to purchases that YOU make. If it is a shared credit, all charges made to your cabin will use the credit.
  10. You will still get a physical Sea Pass. Many people don't want to have to arry their phone whrever they go.
  11. When I read the title, I was going to reply that any southern route is better than a western route but when I saw the itineraries, that changed. I can't believe they are calling the Oasis cruise a southern itinerary. The Bahamas aren't even IN the Caribbean. Now knowing what the itineraries are, I vote for the western on Harmony. There will be lots of fun things to do in those ports. As others have mentioned, the ships alone will keep everyone occupied.
  12. Our experience: We have shared our Diamond balcony discount 4 times with our travel companions. On each of those occasions, we have received the welcome gifts in both staterooms. We are only Diamond and as such, we don't qualify for wine so maybe that makes a difference.
  13. Her age for the duration of the cruise is determined by her age on the day she boards the ship. However, I would think that if you speak with the people running the teen club, she will be allowed to participate in the activities. I know exceptions have been made in the past under similar circumstances. Talk to the staff on day one and explain her situation. I'm guessing she has older siblings that will be in the teen club. If so, that will help the situation.
  14. I don't know of too many major sporting events (I would consider the NHL playoffs to be major) that are not broadcast on the ships. I'm fairly confident you'll be able to watch the games.
  15. Yes, those balconies are more spacious and yes, end to end viewing is limited by the hump. If you want full end to end viewing, you'll need to grab a cabin that is in the center of the hump.
  16. I don't remember a need lately to hand the photographer your card. It's all done with facial recognition now.
  17. Here is the way I understand it and what I was told on the ship a few years ago. It has nothing to do with who paid for what and who is in what cabin. You are talking about a Diamond member perk. The free picture is for the Diamond member. The Diamond member must be in the picture. You are not allowed to get just any random picture (your son's family) with the perk. The Diamond member must be in the picture in order for it to qualify.
  18. If you're only going to use the service to occasionally check emails, then a one-device package will work. You will get one log in code, share it with whoever you like. You each can use that code to log in but only one person at a time.
  19. Your cabin might be ready at 10:00 but you won't be on the ship. By the time you get on the ship, they will have the hallways blocked off so you won't be able to get to it.
