  1. I really hate drinking out of jars. That's all.
  2. Do they quote you a price if you book in advance?
  3. There is probably an elaborate barter system in the crew quarters. Don't forget all the leftover amenity beverages.
  4. It was when I saw the subsequent post, 'magnets don't pay the rent either'. I was laughing and embarrassed at the same time.
  5. Candyforthecrew is now archived and as such has achieved classic status, but since posting is closed, I wanted to mention that my suggestion to tip with door magnets was a joke.
  6. I think they are told to just fill with milk and if someone asks for half and half get them some. Happened to me in a restaurant last week. Asked for half and half got milk said is this milk yes can i get half and half sure and he came back with it. Half and half is expensive lately. As long as they ain't puttin bananas by the ketchup.
  7. I'm only talking about meclizine. You can get it right at GS.
  8. Agreed. I complained that the beds were too hard once. They gave me 30% of my fare(s) as FCC. It was over $1,200. Recently, a friend had a much more serious complaint, one that I advised warranted escalating up, and they got offered $200 obc. Depends on who comes across your communication.
  9. If something bothers you, there is no harm in writing a letter. Usually they will give you a standard response and sometimes you will get bonus dollars. Like WJ theme nights, ymmv.
  10. Instead of candy or stuff that takes up room, what about adding a door magnet to your cash tip? People have a lot of these and it won't take up space inside the cabin. Or an over the door shoe holder (once you are done with it, of course) to stash all the customer gifts. Candy can be dangerous and insulting.
  11. The ship gives out meclizine to cruise passengers for free. They don't ask anyone's medical history.
  12. Talked to only one person about it so maybe he was misinformed. I did eat there 3 nights and didn't notice any themes. We had to search for the Indian food each day and I remember it being all the way in the back. Only ever one choice of entree plus rice, bread and lentils. One night it was a dal and beans choice so a meat protein was not guaranteed. Just seemed to be less choice overall. And if I was to notice a theme on any night it would be Overcooked and Dry Proteins Night, which happened daily. The beef from the carving station was inedible and I showed the chef as he was coming around to ask how everything was. I did compliment him on his vegetables.
  13. It was in May but things can vary between ships and sailings.
  14. There was a daily Indian choice, such as a vegetarian or meat curry, but on past cruises we have had an Indian theme night with many choices that was very good.
  15. I was on Liberty and disappointed that the MDR items were usually not available in the WJ at night. Also there were no theme nights. We asked about Indian in particular.
  16. Regarding the wine choices: our first night on Liberty they had one white choice and one red choice. They gave me a moscato as my amenity and this was my only choice until they restocked and I could exchange it. They did restock the bars the next day and there were more choices, but the more expensive ($14/glass) wines never seemed to be available at all. I would not recommend the alcohol package for wine drinkers.
  17. Besides location, consider that you may be assigned a connecting cabin. We chose a balcony guarantee for our last Explorer cruise and got assigned a connecting cabin with the noisiest possible, music playing until 3am, partying neighbors. Supposedly Explorer has a problem with noise because there is only one door between the cabins instead of two? Not sure if it's like this on other ships but it was terrible and I would never book a guarantee on this ship again.
  18. I always think it's missing and then I remember it's in the desk drawer.
  19. I have never had a problem either. The nice thing is, with the right TA, you can get refundable prices (not always, ymmv) that are cheaper than RC's refundable prices. And you usually get at least a small obc. And a 'good' TA will get back to you in a timely manner. Lots of good hints on this thread. Doesn't hurt to reach out and see what you can find. If you still don't feel comfortable, you don't have to book with them.
