  1. The whole 'behind the scenes' thing is bs. For years and years we got guidelines for tipping head waiter, waiter, assistant waiter and room steward. That was it. Tipping behind the scenes people is RC's marketing to get more money that basically can be used however they want. You can accept it or fight it whichever way you want.
  2. If you book your BOGO precruise, as described here, I think the worst they will do is say you have to cancel and rebook at the onboard price. I really don't think they will say, 'you booked at home and you are supposed to book onboard so no dinner for you!' They were trying to sell me specialty dining multiple times a day, every day, on my last cruise. The capacity is there.
  3. These are usually sold near the end of the cruise and it's an impulse buy after spending $14/drink all week. People on another group were posting that they were trying to give their leftover drinks away so as not to waste them.
  4. I'm guessing there is much less demand for them. If there was, they would still be leaving them.
  5. It's actually not a big deal if you do. You are allowed to do this.
  6. Lots of people complaining about the increase but also lots of people running to call RC and prepay their tips! All those execs high-fiving each other in the break room around now.
  7. On our last cruise, we got one for every single D drink we ordered, including bottled water.
  8. Same. I ask for as little as possible because I know they are stretched.
  9. Calling all retirees... c'mon, you got time... mbayley@rccl.com
  10. They really picked a wrong time to increase tips. Service is worse. Food quality is worse. Cruise prices are higher than ever...I will probably pay the increase and just cut down on extraneous tips. I will save way more money than their increase.
  11. I couldn't tell what part of the chicken mine was from. I think the back! Husband got the prime rib and I thought it looked terrible but he said it was ok. That's why I booked Giovanni's for night 1 on our next cruise. On formal night I asked for extra vegetables and instead of the asparagus that came with my meal (tenderloin) they gave me the standard 1 broccoli floret/2 carrot slices 😆 Also everyone seems to like the lasagna but the pasta layer is always so gummy. I don't get the appeal. One night I got an app and soup as my meal because I didn't like the main choices. I guess this is my food rant.
  12. The pro move is to skip dessert and go to WJ. (It opens at 6pm)
  13. I tried the app and it is showing that Giovanni's Table is being used for Taste of Royal Lunch on day 5. Then it's weirdly showing no lunch on Day 2 although I can book that online.
  14. If you're on the June 1 sailing, I think there is a wedding happening. So maybe that group has lunch reserved one or two days. And people were complaining about Chops, not Giovanni's. People were liking Giovanni's.
  15. It is only offering Giovanni's lunch on Day 2 of my 5 night cruise. Chops lunch is available 1,2 & 5. Just a note, on a recent cruise, everyone was complaining about Chop's on Liberty.
  16. I don't think it is necessarily on purpose. My bag was tagged. Marked with colorful tape. Locked! The cruiser still called for assistance and RC cut my lock. I don't think it was purposeful. I think it was stupid.
  17. When I go to the website and click on the 'plan my cruise' button it shows up on the next page up top next to the ship and sail date.
