  1. I thought of that too and they could stop in Ensenada to satisfy the PVSA. They most certainly can’t go south though.
  2. Based on this, my guess is they’ll switch to a coastal cruise up north, San Francisco, possibly Astoria Oregon and Santa Barbara.
  3. I'm thinking the cruise leaving on the 19th will be impacted.
  4. Yes, that was the last day of the cruise and we missed PV and went to San Diego instead due to tropical storm Orlean.
  5. Apples to Oranges. When I buy my booze for at home consumption, of course its way cheaper. When I'm on a cruise, it's either pay the $10-$12 per drink as I go or buy the package for way cheaper. I make very good use out of Plus.
  6. On a Princess ship last fall. They didn’t clear the deck.
  7. Some ships will hold your bag until rooms are ready. I know the Emerald did in the Explorers lounge that we took advantage of.
  8. Well, yeah, drinking 15 alcoholic drinks everyday for two weeks would get disgusting but you don't have to drink 15 drinks to get your "monies" worth, that's just the limit. Three alcoholic drinks per day will put you at break even. I did that easily on my LA to Hawaii cruise.
  9. Solomon's is usually my go to. My friend has a condo right behind that center and she highly recommends Sancho's, local hang out there, and the Tiki Bar, next door. I'll be checking these out when I'm there in October.
  10. I remember before they started the Plus package it was the Sip & Sail promotion. That was a good one.
  11. I’ve seen several helicopter medical evacuations, you cannot see the person in the basket, at all. They are covered with a blanket or something. I understand the curiosity and watching the logistics of it and I’m sure everyone feels bad for that person and their family, I know I do.
  12. It's a bummer to get sick on a cruise or just back from one. I got Covid after my cruise last September, didn't have any symptoms but decided to test before going back to work. I was positive and it was very mild for me. I'm sure I infected others but there's nothing I could do about that because I didn't know I was sick. That is how it is spread so easily, by the time most exhibit symptoms, if at all, you've already infected others. We need to learn to live with this additional virus we now have along side colds & flu. There is no more required testing, masking, quarantine and federal relief funds for missing work, at least not in California. Everyone just has to assess their risk for being out in public, because you can get sick anywhere.
  13. That’s awesome! I absolutely love the Sapphire. It has the complete wrap around promenade with cushioned loungers. It just feels like “ home” on that ship for me. I was on her last September for 10 days and it was great. Have a great cruise!
  14. Go to cruise deck plans.com. They have symbols for the kind of set up you’re looking for. Choose Carnival, then Valor and go be decks, scroll to the bottom for the symbols.
  15. Last Fall they were doing a no supplement sale. I snagged a balcony on the sky deck right across from the Retreat pool for $1,100, total and that was with Plus, 7 day cruise. My cruise next April, a 7 day, same itinerary, in the same cabin with Plus is $2,300. 😳
  16. I wouldn’t call to book a cruise. I realize you were already on the phone for a cancellation but if you were to just book it online, it literately takes a minute or two. The phone reps don’t really know what they’re doing and it takes forever for them to complete anything. I think it was just lousy luck that the price jumped while you were booking it.
  17. They’re not losing money, even with you not buying the package. If they were, they would have halted it years ago.
  18. You can do whatever you want with your allotted 15 alcoholic drinks. Sometimes I order something I don’t care for. I leave it at the bar and order something else.
  19. I was on a Princess ship at the end of September last year and we missed going to Puerto Vallarta because of Hurricane Orlean. We went to San Diego instead. Back in October 2007 on the Pride, we missed PV due to a tropical storm.
  20. Ok, the limited flights back to LA is a major factor, thank you for that info. Decisions, decisions.
  21. Thanks to all of you for your very informative input. I appreciate all your responses. There are definitely pros and cons to both. I booked the embarkation from LA and will fly home from FL after the cruise. I’ve been to Florida several times before so it will save on a night or two hotel stay which will also help because I have the dreaded solo supplement. I’m excited about this cruise, my dad and I were booked on the 21 day RT from LA (he wouldn’t fly) but unfortunately, he lost his battle with lung cancer in late 2019. We would have been cancelled anyway with the pandemic. Happy cruising everyone! Toni
  22. Yes, thank you. I always fly in at least a day before.
  23. Thank you everyone for your thoughts! I wish I could do a B2B, that would solve everything. I think I'm going to go with my initial thought and fly to FL, stay a day or two then arrive back at my home port stress free. I would rather get the flight out of the way before the cruise.
