  1. Just an FYI, if you are diagnosed as Covid positive by the ship’s doctor, you are quarantined to your cabin for 5 days. Patty
  2. The sea wall doesn’t extend the entire island but does for most of the places a tourist would want to go.
  3. 😵‍💫🙄😳😳🙄😵‍💫 That’s a good project for someone to figure out how many “airplane” bottles it would take to fill the pool! Patty
  4. Ship gossip is always interesting. I’d heard he didn’t join the ship in Miami because there was a visa issue and that he was to join in Grand Cayman, now Cartagena, hopefully. A detail and the result is the same. Patty
  5. There's a sign with the info as you enter the port area. I've always been able to see the ship as you get close to the port. Just tell your taxi/Uber "that one" and they know how to get around in the port area. Patty
  6. And don't forget, it's the bean counters at Royal Caribbean who are now in charge.
  7. Explains a lot. The person is new to Crystal and didn't know that the unwritten rule is if you get a complimentary upgrade you don't go around bragging about it. It opens a can of worms that needs to be kept closed! I'm sure there are folks here who have received upgrades from old Crystal and possibly new Crystal, but they had the good sense to keep their mouths' shut. 😵😉 Patty
  8. Did this person get a complimentary upgrade? Will bet they did pay a single supplement on the cabin they originally booked. Patty
  9. As I've posted before, it's just a subset of passengers who wear anything white. This is not something that all the passengers attend. So, my comment is, do what you want. Patty
  10. I have heard, but can't speak to the veracity, that the powers that be with the new Crystal aren't interested in "sell cheap in Australia" or any other place on the globe. They will be doing specials like the current cabin upgade one, but don't expect slashed fares to fill more cabins. I guess we can say this is a time will tell. Patty
  11. This is just another reason among many to use a travel agent familiar with the product or at least knows where to get the correct answer. It is really unsettling that a reservation agent would be so uninformed. Patty
  12. I posted the exact same thing about the Tastes Chinese Chicken Salad dressing when I was on Serenity in August. Glad to find someone who agrees. Patty
  13. That might be the best autocorrect I've ever seen!! Think it should say "when boarding"!!
  14. The OP on this thread reported returning to Waterside after the show for dessert, so I don't see why your dinner can't be a progressive dinner!! Patty
  15. I've never met Fernando, but I had understood that his job was to schmooze the passengers. The Cruise Director actually has things to do behind the scenes, paper work, scheduling, etc. Why do you think there would be a conflict there? Patty
  16. Crystal is already doing better with Serenity. The holiday cruise was fully booked, the current cruise is 650 passengers and the next cruise is fully booked. Patty
  17. That's a great way to approach travel, move on and look forward to your next trip. 💖 Do you have future Crystal cruises booked? Patty
  18. No, it wasn't a special offer. This was for the other ocean views on Deck 7, not the ones with a balcony. Now, prices change and when a certain percentage of cabins are booked, they go up. I think the lesson is book early to get a single cabin or, if those are all booked, a lower supplement on other ocean views.
  19. You do not have a 100% supplement in all cabins on all cruises. I am a solo with a double ocean view booked on the Jan. 18 Panama Canal cruise on the Serenity and paid a 50% single supplement. The solo cabins are often less than 15% more than the double ocean views. I have one booked in the future that is 12%
  20. It’s up to the traveler to learn the customs. I know better than to tip in Japan. I almost never tip in Australia as too many Australians come on sites like this and are absolutely holier than thou about tipping. Just don’t forget, it works both ways and “we don’t tip where I’m from” doesn’t work when visiting a country where tipping is expected.
  21. However, they are traveling the world and are often in countries where the guides aren't "properly paid". If they can't adjust to where they are, not where they are from, perhaps they should stay home where they approve of the standards.
  22. When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
  23. My theory, if the tour guide stands by the door where you must exit, it's not just to say good bye. I've noticed that often some who can afford luxury lines are bigger cheap skates than those on mass market lines.
