  1. Thanks in part to birds pictures and other comments, the vibe cost could probably be put to better use.
  2. Booked Alaska on the Encore in September. This time around, I'm trying to stay on top of everything as early as possible. NCL app says it's too early for specialty dining, but as of now, vibe is available. Wondering if it's worth the extra 250 in as much that I've never had access to vibe on any previous cruises I've been on.
  3. I didn't go far enough into the NCL webpage. I'll have to do that next time, but thank you for the responses.
  4. I received a call from my NCL representative informing me about a promo for booking a cruise using two cruise next certificates. What they didn't say was when it ended, just to call them before the end of the promo. The call was today so I'm hoping there's at least a couple of days in which I can call them back and get something booked. Just wondering if anyone here might happen to know when this promo expires.
  5. I'm sort of concerned about recent changes with NCL. Hoping they are still going to be around for cruising. I mean the change in turn down service, frequent gratuity changes, and now changing up on board entertainment. I was recently on Prima and saw Donna Summer and Noise Boys. Hopefully those kind of shows can continue. Someone else mentioned Choir of Man. I saw that on Escape and enjoyed it. Just seems like a lot changes taking plans with NCL.
  6. According to the ncl website, it's showing an 8:30pm departure from San Juan so that's why I was asking about coming in the day of the cruise. I know that's not ideal, but if that is in fact the correct departure time then is boarding still in the morning and the ship is just staying in port all day?
  7. I'm considering the Viva itenerary in March 2024 and I noticed that departures out of San Juan seem to be in the evening. With that being the case, would there be issues with arriving the day of the cruise (aside from potential flight delays) or would it still be necessary to come in the day before and leave the day after? What time does boarding usually start due evening departures?
  8. Having sailed on Prima recently, I think for a group that size that your best option honestly would be the observation lounge. The traditional sail away with music and such will be by the main pool.
  9. That was my experience as well. Never before on an NCL sailing have I not been able to book the entertainment using the form. Thankfully, at last the comedians will have three shows in the theater (no reservations needed). As for the shows, well, it might say sold out but it isn't really. There were unclaimed seats at the shows I saw. Hopefully on the later Leonardo class ships, the venue size increases a bit.
  10. @BirdTravelsHave a fun trip. Just off Prima today. Didn't get to every place on the ship, but navigating around was tricky for the first day or two. As for check-in, my opinion was that it could have been better. The last cruise I went on, I came to the port and got a group number. It was all organized. There seemed to be a lot of general boarding and not so much checking the group numbers this time around.
  11. That's what it was 🙂 Hopefully on another Prima cruise I'll be able to try it.
  12. I'm on Prima now. Those tips are helpful. I admit that the first time I ordered at indulge, I put my name in the "for" field. Other times I left it blank I had the opportunity to go for lunch and dinner. To be honest, I didn't see much of a difference between lunch and dinner menus. Some stations seemed to have the same items for lunch and dinner. There was one item (don't remember what it was called, but it was some sort of pasta dish). That seems to have sold out early in the cruise. The tablets also had drinks of the day. Most showed as being sold out.
  13. So the wine and draft beer that's in the lounge (which appears to be the same that can also be obtained elsewhere onboard) isn't included? That doesn't make sense. The wine and beer doesn't cost more than $15, but then why not just charge the on board account?
  14. I have the basic drink package. The Prima studio lounge has beer, soda, and wine available on tap. Scanned my card and first, only wine would dispense at a very slow drip rate. Next time I tried it, the card would not register at all. I asked guest service about this and they're telling me that the lounge drinks are extra. How is this possible?
  15. I couldn't get it to work on mobile data or on the terminal WiFi. I thought maybe since there was a delay in boarding that maybe I could connect to the ship WiFi and make reservations. I did try using a web browser and logging into NCL but even that wasn't working. Once on board, it still wasn't working properly. I connected to the ship WiFi and was still having issues. It was like I was connected to the Internet portal instead of the *internal" WiFi for just the app. During the first show of the evening, the CD mentioned ways to make reservations and said "you can use the app... When it works." Stopped by then Internet desk. Don't know what they did to make it start working, but it's all good now.
  16. App isn't loading on mobile data or WiFi. Conveniently, NCL seems to only provide support Monday thru Friday even though cruising is a 7 day a week operation. How will I be able to view my account and make reservations if the app won't work?
  17. I watched the video as part of the check-in. NCL sent me an email stating I have to watch it again. Other than here, I haven't seen any notice from NCL that the process has gone back to what it used to be.
  18. I was actually referring to college football. I thought that since Prima didn't depart until 4 that it would be possible to watch college football somewhere on board. Guess I'll be watching on my phone.
  19. I'll be sailing on Prima this Saturday. After I check-in and get show reservations taken care of (and maybe after a quick lunch) I was wanting to go somewhere on Prima that would maybe have at least a couple of TVs to where one could be set on Fox and another one on whatever. I could bring my tablet and watch football on that in the lounge area, but the tablet is WiFi only and I'm sure the terminal WiFi won't extend to the ship. That would mean I would have to watch on my phone which isn't ideal, but I can do it.
  20. I've been considering Alaska or Mexican Riviera as those are the places I haven't been to yet. Had Mexican Riviera booked for April of next year but had to cancel. This thread was informative, so I think I'll probably do Alaska. I wouldn't be able to do two weeks so it looks like I'd be limited to Bliss or Encore. What's the best time to go to Alaska?
  21. I happened to see a newsfeed article about this incident on my phone and the main headline was "Passengers Injured as Cruise Ship Collapses Upon Docking." A misleading headline, as a cruise ship wouldn't collapse. From the pictures in this thread though, hard to understand why the gangway would be placed that high up. https://www.entrepreneur.com/business-news/passengers-injured-amid-norweigan-cruise-line-ship-collapse/438938
  22. I'm going to sailing on Prima in about two weeks. The more I see reviews about small venues, the more concerned I get. Are there two improv shows a night during a week long sailing? I thought I had read somewhere that at least one of the improv shows would be held in the theatre. It's sounding like it's going to be spending the evening time waiting in line for a venue.
  23. I searched on Google for paddle boarding in Roatan and found roatanpaddleboards.com. Seems to be an all day tour and they have a pickup and drop off option for a total of $75. Anyone know anything about this tour option? Only concern with private tour is just making sure I'm back on time (don't want to be a runner or miss the ship).
  24. Trying to decide on whether to consider booking ATV tour through NCL or do something local in the port (like maybe the monkey tour). In planning out my interary for the week of my cruise, Roatan is basically the only port for which I don't have anything planned.
  25. I've done several solo cruises on NCL. On embarkation day, there is usually an announcement in the freestyle daily about where to meet. From there the group heads to the studio lounge for a meet and greet. Each evening, there's a designated time to meetup. The solo host will find out who all waits to go to dinner as a group each night. The host will also coordinate a time for the group to see a show (at least, this was the process on the Escape). I'm going to be sailing solo on Prima on the November 26 sailing so hopefully the process I recall from the Escape will be similar on Prima.
